Nora compared the new style to 墨絵 and mentioned Vagabond but in my mind there is an image of these ink sketches of Alaskan cowboys or some such fruit of random mixed memories.
I think in the production book I had for the 300 movie back in uni they talked about mixing in coffee spills with the cloud photography (you would think why not just use coffee spill-like digital noise, right).
Add to this Nora driving to the seaside to record himself shouting over waves or WizardsOnly painting eveyrthing with a mouse and yeah. Nobody does it like us.
