Kendrick Lamar is ushering in a new generation through pgLang, his creative collective with Dave Free. By collaborating with his cousin Baby Keem, Kendrick bridges generations
Joshua Short
This take did not age well at all lol
Erica Dee
This song is giving Noahās Ark to me. He wants the flood. Things are wicked, letās wipe it clean. Itās hard to say if you are in something you canāt be critical of it. No such thing as a perfect man.
Tappan
I don't think yall being biased, I just don't think it's not landing that from K dot's perspective he's not lying or throwing out propaganda by saying what he think he knows about Drake. A lot people in the industry are on some bs, but truth needs nothing more than time.
Saint
Yeah he didnāt get it
Petty
Nah Terrence. I understand your position but you clearly did not understand the meaning of āwatch the party dieā and never in Kendrickās entire career did he come across as āthe perfect niggaā. Stop this bro
Jeremiah
how ? cause they not dickeating?
Joel A Robinson
Get a life lmao
Riley J
W video, I disagree with your take but I definitely see the angle and perspective.
DeVante Letford
I was getting ready to argue but I continued to listen to the end. The twins are right. Dot canāt push this message about the culture and industry to then just disappear again. But I donāt think thatās the case at this point. Heās grown a lot as an artist. To make shit move takes time , and we donāt know what his plans are or how he plans to do his part in being part of that change. All in all the conversation needed to be had and it was a good one. As Terrence said, if you canāt have this conversation your not a fan of hip hop your just a fan of Kendrick. Whole 9 āš¾
dietcokepapi
Kendrick, good rapper, even bigger hypocrite.
Ava Shirley
If someone came after your girlfriend/fianceā, the people you love and respect, would you not try and take that personās head off? Letās not act like Kendrick going hard on Drake was not warranted. What would you do? Degenerate? Nah. He talked to God about what he was going to do! Iād hope you would do the same for you and yours.
Dayany
We value your opinion regardless ā¼ļø

What the heck happened to yall. Itās like yall not even genuine anymore. Thatās why we feel in love with yall. Yall used to be hyped about the realest stuff. Now itās like yall so much in yall head about shhh. Yall not fun to watch anymore. Dang.
Whatfor8
I think you guys are overthinking it
Angel
Yāall need to react to that mustard album tho š„š„
Andreā
I wish you both would have responded to the Lecrae name drop TWICE! If it would have been any other artists you would have responded. Even the Dee-1 response was a little suspect. Give these dudes the respect you would have given any other name dropped. To completely ignore the name drops is crazy!!!
B. Mur
Him acting like a victim is actually insane....
Jonathan Morris
I get what youāre saying on Kendrickās hypocrisy but damn that take on the Mustard album is painful. it takes album sales for you to give something a fair shot? youāre serious?
Ian Beausejour
Fans are doing too much this year tbh but yāall keep are doing great work, never forget that
Mafi
Yeah because these days when youāre blessed with a platform and a voice like all of these celebrities you can make so much change for the good and the sad thing is hardly anyone does, thereās masses that follow you and support you and would buy a product if you told them to, if Kendrick just wakes up and leads the wave back to the golden ages of pure hip hop when it actually meant something and the ones who rapped actually did it because they had to push that story of the struggle out in order to connect with those who are in similar situations and give them something to relate to and maybe change their lives themselves. I fuck with kdot and good for him for winning the beef and what not but the ov-hoe 69 god niggas yelling that shit in their car are the same cringe ass niggas crashing out tryna act like they future Hendricks instead of tryna contribute to society and build eachother up and if he wanna push for that pure shit he gotta pop out and show us. And he can do it because heās one of the most influential and genuine there is these days.
Deon
Both can be true at the same time: I want the culture to grow in a positive way but "I am not your savior..."
Jonathan Morris
what did Kendrick do that was so degenerate? I never heard him āpush propagandaā or drugs like the people heās taking shots at
fthrs
SO true. I think Kendrick's hyperfocus and attention to detail with his own artistry is a drawback to his impact. He's obviously the most skilled artist of his generation, but it would be nice to see him and artists like Tyler push other artists to the same caliber. Granted, that's not their responsibility, but being the handful of substantive artists that are popular, it would be nice to see them foster the new generation.
No-Look David
This is a good take. Kendrick could be an actual āMartin Luther Kingā figure in the world. He seems conflicted, there is a lot of hypocrisy but he uses the bandaid of Hip Hop and says this in his music. The type of music he makes. You would think he would never do something like the Super Bowl; so there is something very misleading but because it is honest and vulnerable we give it a pass. He can literally change soooo much in so many areas of the culture.
Caleb Keeling
React to Aināt Watch The Party Die by Lecrae

This take?!? wow Mr.Martinez.

Yall talking that talk on this one. š
Liam Decker
Spot of takes I love it. This Kendrick stans need to chill
AR
Meek sent multiple shots at drake fym? You wanted him to make an announcement asking for a round 2? Dissing him was him trying to re initiate the beef.
Austin
ended eternal beef? I bet you that beef sparks up next summer the latest
Alex Martinez
nahs its a god complex thats growing out of control lmaoo
Alex Martinez
compare it to anything else he's put out, he had to turn to the degeneracy to win over the public
Alex Martinez
it seems as if this is what Cole tried to start with KOD, he just didn't execute it great lol
Alex Martinez
You delusional if you think damn is as great as y'all make it out to be. He has some elementary bars on there y'all been gassing up for years. If we being real, it only won a pulitzer because he was popping at the time because of his black empowerment, pulitzer did it to accredit itself within the black community.
Chukwudi Nkenke
So are we judging Kendrickās music on only content and not sound? Cause at this point itās poetry.
Kerry Williams
They didnāt misinterpreted lol they were spot on people gas anything Kendrick does and never call out his hypocrisy
Chukwudi Nkenke
Do you think you can enjoy that āmusicā repeatedly?
Jacob Cooper
This song is good rapping but boring. Which has always been the problem w Kendrick 𤣠he will never be better than Drake to me. Not like us was cool n he cooked the Boy but doesnāt change anything. Drake still makes better MUSIC.
BƩjtsen
If we're being honest, J. Cole has done the best job at trying to usher in a new generation of hiphop artists...Dreamville Records...JID, Bas, Cozz, EarthGang, and Omen, plus a little Ari Lennox, mainly classic sounding RnB, on the side.
Apollo
Good breakdown!!!
james moore
He's tryna act like the victim because he's uncomfortable in this new position

Thatās called blasphemy as Christians he is mocking our God wearing the crown that he was crucified in and putting diamonds on it calling himself Elohim its mockery but yāall call Christians dumb wen we speak about it but any other religion gets protection meanwhile all the celebrities can constantly mock ours while yāall laugh at us and call us crazy he is part of the party SIMPLE jus another hypocrite like the rest n I almost fell for it myself šÆšÆ
Sebastian
Out here writing novels in all caps, Kendrick not gonna let you hit
Moses T24
Yāall confusing hypocrisy with being imperfect which literally everyone is
Moses T24
But heās not criticizing beef. Itās always been part of the culture and itās still going to be. If anything he saying he wants more authenticity in the culture. Heās also been always aware of his own shortcomings and told us about them and how heās trying to be a better person. Also your example itās too elementary . I think people who have done wrong in the past can tell people to do better because they have the experience and theyāve learned, grown and changed from it. They also know how bad things can get due to their experiences.
Moses T24
Because Drake wasnāt sincere with it tho. He had been sneak dissing Kendrick for the longest time and then he asks him to be on his song and you want him to act like there isnāt any tension?
Moses T24
Very well explained
Moses T24
Yāall gotta be dumb if this is how you interpret things. Yāall forgot the concept of symbolism.
Moses T24
Bruh itās called symbolism.

Yāall are literally forgetting that heās always been honest about who he is in his music. Heās literally the opposite of being a hypocrite.
Jonathan Morris
theyāre on Twitter too much
Xavier Goshton
Think people just scarred from damn, mr morale would of probably dropped sooner if not for covid. He just dropped mr morale in 2022, I think 2-3 year cycle is normal. And hes been active since then. Cardi b has had a longer hiatus then kendrick.

Why even bring up Drake in this ? Just focus on Kendrick
Johnny Sensei

Johnny Sensei
Because heās the only one that has been CONSISTENTLY engaged in hip hop. Kendrick takes hella long breaks and doesnāt put on any rapper but complains about the state of hip hop. Itās backwards
Earnest Williams II
He doesnāt work with any of these upcoming black content creators who are getting rich the right way. The fashion brand he champions is Chanel, not off white, not Pharrell own brand which is also good for the earth, not his own pro black brand, fucking Chanel. He shows support to the Grammies who even Drake boycotted with Jay and Ye. Heās barely visible in his community let alone other black communities helping out. He talks all this revolutionary stuff but what does he actually do for the culture outside of drop great music outside of proving a point during a rap battle?
Earnest Williams II
He calls himself Elohim
Earnest Williams II
Also calls himself Elohim on multiple occasions which is literally blasphemy
Earnest Williams II
He canāt they donāt exist š
Earnest Williams II
I donāt think Kendrick had any goal dropping this other than getting shot off his chest because he didnāt like the reception his SB announcement got from the same culture heās trying to be the champion of

Realistically J Cole is probably the only āright messengerā lol

My guy he dropped in 2022 and been active asf this year. Stop acting like he goes 5 years between his albums, that happened ONCE and a big reason for it is bc the pandemic. Bro dropped 6 projects from 2011-2018. We got mad feafures in 2021, We got 20 songs from him in 2022 plus a couple features, and gotten 6 songs this year. He was only inactive from like halfway into 2019-halfway into 2021 if we being fr
Chris
Such a ridiculous thing to say too lmao. āWe deserve itā childish
Chris
Bet cypher & drakes interviews post control in 2013 were direct & not subliminal
Chris
Only time he disappeared was between DAMN & Mr Morale. Yall conveniently forgot besides that time he dropped all the time? Never went longer than 2.5 years without dropping an albun. He dropped in 2010, 2011, end of 2012, beginning of 2015, 2016, 2017, & 2018.
Chris
Yall reaching with this take aboht him being absent. He dropped projects every year from 2015-2018 and never went longer than 2.5 years withoht new music besides the gap between DAMN & Mr Morale which was partially due to the pandemic, hella rappers didnt drop for a while in that timespan. And its only been 2 years since mr morale.
Chris
Yep.
Chris
They can co-exist but theres no balance anymore. Before there was balance, now its 95% commercial
Chris
If thats what you get from the lyrics of the song then idk what to tell you. Yall rly aināt listening

So is it the right message but wrong messenger situation? If not Kendrick then who? Thereās not one rapper who hasnāt contributed to the downfall of rap in some type of way.
Ketheric
terrell is right about the 'no round 2' thing. why tf would you even say that?
riley perkins
I think his next moves are really gonna make or break this message
Olijah
I absolutely agree with yah. Kdot sounding like a hypocrite
Mike2Trill
Kendrick is a hypocrite šš you not perfect lol other people donāt gotta be like you
Austin
Thatās my point though. Who is mistaken it? People who arenāt a fans of hip hop. If youāre brought up around the culture, you know the difference. Why do we need to distinguish it to anyone else?
RG
He's talking about culture vultures not degeneracy. Point missed lol.
Dundee Mifflin
Itās cool to admit biases man. We aināt gone hold that against yāall. YALL the homies. Yeah Kendrick does look funny here. But so does Drake with his 100gig release, which had nothing but Kendrick sneak dissing throughout the entire ep. BOTH of them look funny in the light. Not one or the other
Big
Do stop it u fans view him as god. Thatās why itās so difficult for yāall to see his faults. U canāt shoot someone then scream put the guns down the next day. Just like they said Kendrick yall golden boy canāt even tell the truth about buddy
Sunny
The beefing in question is random subliminals
MisunderstoodZ
Not Like Us is degeneracy??!! HOW?
MisunderstoodZ
This beef made Terrell forget who Drake is. When has he EVER played the āholier than thouā persona?? He spent all last project telling us he is NO savior. Kendrick is attacking the degeneracy of the culture, he plays no part in the fowarding of THAT culture. Where is the hypocrisy?
Nayvadius Wilburn
Go outside bra
Nayvadius Wilburn
This shi was trash LMFAO
MisunderstoodZ
Do that stop the truth of what heās saying? Kendrick doesnāt represent anything negative in the culture. He has bared ALL in his art and never presented as wholier than thou

Snoozefest of a song. "They not like us" bruh nobody wants to be like y'all lmaooo
futuretrunks
the problem is that the commercial aspects are being mistaken for what hip-hop actually is.
Alex Martinez

Miletus
Before I start looking this up, can you list the 5-7 girls he waited until they were 18 to start dating, just need a starting point before I start googling this stuff
MAX
As a Strategist here's some perspective: If Kendrick suddenly starts 'endorsing everyone' and 'featuring on every track' it would dilute his 'brand'. It would be like if the Mallory Bros Pod suddenly had a guest star every week. Most people in LA have a Kendrick story on how he helps out from Jason Martin(Problem) to ScHoolboy Q, he just doesn't take credit. -- Also, by the logic in this discussion, we wouldn't have half the songs we have from Pac & Nip. I believe you can express wanting better for the world without being the 'perfect Messiah'. -- Also, "Not Like Us" y'all 'conveniently ignored' 'The Boy' has about 5-7 girls he KNEW before they were 18 and started dating when they were 18...so let's not act like he's not moving weird. š And I'm a Drake fan.
Mark
The iced out crown made me look at him funny but I let him slide, but still.

What work are you looking for? Or what work would be considered the work?

I love Kendrickās music but his such a hypocrite. He talks about ārappers spreading propagandaā and being flashy blah blah. But isnāt this the same guy who claimed Drake has a daughter which never was confirmed, thatās propaganda. He tries to act like a prophet but he does the same thing as the people he criticizes
kidflash B
He talked in his album that was years ago. Then peddles propaganda and hatred towards another black man then says he had to do it? On top of submitting his music to every award ceremony and doing all these magazine covers, THEN is acting like heās anti industry
Mark
Still coping with the loss
Mark
TALK TO EM!
Jordan Franklin
This been Kendrick energy since control. He always been right at everybody. He always been revolutionary minded. To pimp a butterfly was that. I donāt understand how yāall viewing him as if it is new
Mark
Terrell saying he's talking about anyone who wasn't on his side in the beef NIGGA THATS YOU!
Dara Yavari
Heās definitely going to drop new music. I think thereās a bit of a misunderstanding about how people are interpreting this track. Yes, he mentioned that his spirit takes a hit when he releases music because he's putting himself out there, but that doesnāt mean heās going to stop. I'm convinced his new alias will be "Mr. Get Off," like he hinted in the broccoli snippet. The line "watch the party die" was more about calling out the promotion of degeneracy, especially by those who arenāt truly part of the cultureābasically, industry plants and culture vultures. If you're a rapper who grew up in the culture, of course, you can rap about your experiences, but heās also encouraging people to learn, grow, and not stay stuck in the same place. Heās challenging his peers to be more thoughtful with their music and cutting ties with those exploiting the culture by pushing fake narratives just for profit.
Clarence P

Mann Terrell been sounding mad haterish lately and you usually the unbiased guy it sound like you pivked a side and now that side lost so you salty about it. Drake sent shots for years after the meek beef to meek doing victory laps and we never expected drake to run it back with meek even though meek dropped 2 full diss songs at him. We never expected drake to reply to those cause we had already declared the winner. Why is it different with dot saying no round 2s and still sending shots?
Baraa El-Hallaq
yo Terrell where u get that shirt from? itās hard, Iām from Copenhagen and deff wasnāt expecting to see that
Alex Martinez
Give me any aspect of how you interpret presence, Kendrick aināt checking off no boxes
semyautomatic
I get y'alls points about Kendrick needing to follow this up with action, and I think he will. I look at this song as his new "Heart" song especially since Drake used the Part 6 title already. I think Kendrick will drop before the Super Bowl...would be shocked if he goes into that without a new project.
Austin
Why in hip-hop is there such an emphasis on gate keeping or keeping certain cultural aspects āpureā? I feel like everyone knows the authentic aspects versus the commercial aspects. Itās clear as day. At the end of the day thereās an entertainment value and thereās artistic value. We can appreciate purity and artistic integrity while also understanding thatās not what the masses are going to gravitate toward. That doesnāt mean āmicrowaveā rap is indicative of hip-hopās identity. Why canāt both aspects co-exist?
Merrin Thomas
āDonāt bite the hand that fed you the appleā. Thatās how I felt after listening to the song
Ronniedook
Itās not about taking criticism tbh, I just think yaw expect Dot to be this perfect human which he never said.
Ronniedook
But like damn, was 2pac not contradicting also. Is Jay not contradicting? I think as humans, we all are at some point. Yaw expect the man to be perfect? Like fuck š nobody says or does everything correctly
TrayB
The Michael Myers reference was a lil funny
Clion Williams
Yall need to step back. You guys have started to listen to Kendrick with his Stans In mind and itās affecting how you view the music. Might be your worst video to date.
Gurjivan Minhas
Also talking about how the current big 3 didnāt usher in the new big 3 but Jay z and them did you gotta look at how old Jay z was when he ushered in a new era, he was atleast in his 40s give these guys time and weāll see how it all plays out
Gurjivan Minhas
I feel like you guys are letting all the Stan D riding you see on twitter from both kendrick and drake fans affect how you guys listen to both Drake and Kendrickās new songs. Looking back at yāallās ālike thatā reaction you can see how much enthusiasm you guys have listening to Kendrick rapping vs now hahaha. Also to the kendrick doesnāt get criticized point which rapper do you see get criticized as much as Drake and Kendrick even before this beef
Ryan Roberts
PUT THE KNIFE DOWNNNN
Zeke
great reaction
Dontae Roye
Itās not even about criticism. They picked the perspective. They are relating this to beef and industry when he is legit talking about THE CULTURE. This song is a Heart Series song, idk how everyone missed it. But since Drake took the name he left it untitled. And itās already reported by a lot of sources that Kendrick has completed 2 albums recently. This criticism is from the wrong angle and not considering that everything they are saying HE ALREADY RAPPED ABOUT
Dontae Roye
You think present means dropping music. He isnāt here to make us dance and have fun. He wants to change the world. He has 3 of the top 50 albums of all time and that still didnāt work. Why should he continue?
Dontae Roye
No no, last album he made a decision to look INWARDS and sort his own issues out. Look at the fact that Heart Part 5 he was looking outwards. This song is the follow up, he wants to legit ākillā the people in our culture that canāt be saved. He tried to save people with TPAB and people called it the best album ever and it did nothing. This song is him saying he is gonna be aggressive.
Dontae Roye
I wanna know. How is he hiding his hand? You ever think this might be the Heart 6 and he is following up on Heart 5? He already explained in his album. He feels like he shouldnāt talk because he is imperfect. But so was Saul who became Paul the Apostle in the Bible.
Dontae Roye
Good video, terrible points. Love yāall tho

I think heās talking about the ācircusā when he mentions the party, the funny shit, the stuff/people we can live without. Thereās always been a duality to dot. By now, Iām surprised people love to jump the gun with him. HES a GEMINI like Ye. Heās not going to just give you that snippet from they not like us when we feel like it.. once he drops it, people will be on his nuts again. I like this record As far as bringing people up⦠he JUST got off TDE, give the man some time to build PgLang. Love!

Kendrick honestly more of a guest in the rap game now. He canāt parade around like a king whenever he decides to come back for a few records. A king gotta be present, you canāt be number on occasion.

Miss the times where we could judge music based off the hype around itā¦..why so judgmental? Heās an artist, Dot never said he was perfect. Sorry, itās just crazy how everything is criticized nowadays. Itās music, enjoy it.
Blair davis
Nah nah nah this is what yall fans do lol try n spin what really happened. Kdot bright up drake son in euphoria saying drake donāt know how to be a good dad. Then went on a 3 song spree of lying and false labeling him spreading false information and false propaganda. I love Kdot but the guy is very hypocritical. I fw drake too and had no sides in this beef but Kdot is no truth teller and literally goes back on what he says. This song was the perfect example of him doing the exact opposite of what heās preaching. Itās like AB telling ppl to act right and donāt fuck up your opportunities š.
Bash eebrah
I think when heās talking about the industry heās talking about both the artists and the corporations at play in which they control everything, people like Lucian Grainge and the higher ups. I think itāll be hard to usher in a new generation of better artists if one the audience isnāt paying attention especially to artists like Rhapsody, Lecrae Wale etc. Positive and meaningful artists have always existed but both things have been happening we havenāt been paying them any mind as a generation and have been listening to music in the contrary like NBA youngboy, Future, blueface, Sexy Redd etc. We even noticed a change in other artists comparing when they 1st started out with meaning/kind of like a soul In their songs like Drake, Kanye, Meek Mill. tie that in with the corporations who have always been promoting and only feeding toxic music and there you have the industry. These music groups and corporations are powerful and have had their hands on this for a long time and I think itāll take more than Kendrick for this to change.
Blair davis
I been saying kdot canāt say I donāt fw this that and the other but go on 3 straight records and blatantly lie and push propaganda on another artist who actually have brought light onto ppl who are in the culture now. Itās his hypocrisy that bothers me so much. I have zero bias cuz I fw both artist in the beef but itās the outrageous lies he told and hypocrisy that makes me look at him kinda funny. Heās saying ppl are lying to the youth but he just did that for 3 straight songs ššš. Itās like bro what are you really talking about. The message is cool but youāre not practicing what your preaching at all. Now watch how I get called a Kdot hater or Drake glazer cuz I criticize him š
Kenneth Skies
Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do
Miles
Kendrick won the beef but even in winning he's hypocritical
Smalloyd
No way yall had all this hype on competitive rap and when there is a rap beef yall group it with degeneracyš we KNOW Kendrick is not the same
Smalloyd
Did we forget this man is bipolarš they went on the longest tangent about Kendrickās obvious flaws. Kendrick plays on his flaws all the time. Thatās part of the art. And heās always had it in his music.
Kris Kringle
Sounds like more music is coming fellas
Jaden Candelario
Did Drake not get dirty with him first ? Isnāt there talks sparking around where Drake and dot were on the phone before euphoria and he was telling Drake to keep it a friendly fade ? Yall believe what ya want, Drake called him a wife beater and harassed his whole wife way before the pedo shit, letās call a spade a spadeš¤·āāļø
Ale
Totally agree, you want change but you disappear, if you want to change something, you have to be present and active.
Fifty Two Films
You being disingenuous if you think Drake wasnāt a part of this song. Iām not mad, Iām annoyed that he keeps acting like heās this holier than thou guy when Iām the same breath he calls himself the boogeyman. Yall just too up his ass to admit when hes being contradictory

U can look at this song from both ways. Either heās a hypocrite or heās doing what he has to do. Its really simple as that š
charles williams
"A hypocrite. Ion understand why these people praise ya"
Julius Bestman
Kendrick dropping a track like this after the beef definitely makes it look funny in the light bc of all the hateful shit he was saying during. Of course, Kendrick has always been the morally upstanding voice calling for change in hip hop, and I don't think that has changed, but it is definitely more nuanced now. Either way, I thought the track was dope and am excited for new music from Kendrick in the future.
Don
You know the Mallory Bros unbiased bc you can find comments filled with both Drake and Kendrick fans made at them bc of their opinion. Keep doing what yall doing
Key
I agree on that, but I think Kendrick also is aware of that as well. I think thatās why in the previous album he said in one of the songs he chose him. I didnāt take that to mean he was retiring as some people thought, but that he took time away to focus and reflect and heal himself, and that took him away from the people, the fans, the community that he always felt a huge responsibility towards. But I do think this time around heās ready to be that voice once again. Heās a complicated person who cares deeply for this world. I also think too this time around, heās also putting that responsibility on us to choose and be more aware and be more responsible with with what we make popular, who we make famous. I think this is deeper than just 1 artist imo.
M3NICE
Agree to Disagree - KDot doing in the Industry is what Kanye was tryna do in Trumpās camp 2018.
Key
Completely agree with this. I think they missed the part where he speaks on that duality. Iām not sure whatās going on with them as such Kendrick fans that they have been. Itās really weird to see them miss such a clear meaning imo. Heās not saying that he isnāt part of the problem, I mean if we even go back to past albums heās always said he is apart of it which is why he can see the problem and speak on it. I mean even in this song I thought it was clear. Kendrick is a complicated person, he has his struggles and is constantly torn. But I always appreciated his honesty on shining a light on those internal struggles he faced and speaking on these things, cause I feel most of us can relate to that in some way as people. I really hate that they missed thatā¦Idk it just gives (especially with Terrell) a little butt hurt still when it comes to Drake losing the battle cause (Terrell) had high hopes for him. Itās funny cause Terrell constantly preaches that heās neutral but his bias always find a way to shine throughā¦.

I ain't gon hold you. When K Dot said no round 2s. I didn't go into this thinking it was a diss. Now if the shoe so happens to fit, so be it and Drake does fit a few of the lines. I do think Kendrick should drop more, but I honestly chalk that up to when you make music like he makes that it takes time and artists are perfectionist most times. But his year he's showed he can produce excellent music in a short amount of time. So while I do think the "party" needs to die and rebuild. Kendrick could be more active in that role. Now I do think with pgLang he has a chance to usher in a new wave of talent but that takes time especially if you also gotta drop yourself all while running a label.
Jason Macon
Stop saying the Big 3 didnāt try to usher in the new generation. Cole started a label and tried to get niggas on. He thought JID was the next āJ Coleā. I think Kendrick is going to try and do the same with PG Lang
Alec Raatz
Itās always funny to watch Drake fans crash out and reach for anything they can to discredit Kendrick bc their king is a pdf. Dude on the left is compromised fr. I bet when he heard Drake compare a high school to a strip club He felt that.
Jay
The biased kendrick fans are hating yāall for these facts yāall were spitting š
fthrs
Nah this might be the best criticism you both have had of Kendrick and I say that as a person who's got a super deep Kendrick bias. Dreamville as headed by J Cole is supported fully through features, mixtapes, promo, tours etc. J Cole has clearly pushed the people he wants to shape rap to the forefront. Kendrick really should be doing the same for Pg/Lang, but Dave Free's prolific art direction has been restricted to Kendrick and Keem. How does Daylyt, a battle rapper from LA, have a feature on a Cole project before Kendrick, when Daylyt clearly has the same vision and is a ghostwriter for Drake? I think if the old guard want the "culture" to move forward positively, they need to put people on. A Kendrick cosign for a conscious rapper is like a sensu bean. And I say that as a person who has been singing Kendrick's praises since Section 80.
Emmanuel .
If you think he's referring to future in this song you need to do a lot of research buddy cause he's referring to the fast-food music generation of today. He's speaking about artists who make songs for tiktok and only care about what's popular and will do numbers in the clubs and at parties. Music without substance, originality or innovation. Future has substance in his records although he isn't a lyrical spiritual rapper he's the reason why artists like Drake etc developed somewhat of a melodic trap sound. Future has skin in the game and ain't no "party" artist bud. He's been in the game longer than Kendrick.
$HVN
The beautiful in this song is Kendrick is very aware of that duality.
Hatem Idris
One thing bout the twins theyāll always keep it unbiased š¤šæš¤šæ

The crazy thing is drake was trying to bring unity to Hip-Hop with fpshooter but then Kendrick said no. Drake actually promotes artist from different varieties in the culture. I donāt get why drake gets hate for doing exactly what everyone wants Kendrick to do.
Emmanuel .
Interesting Perspective. However, you guys are being harsh to say the least. The same way Kendrick can be seen as a hypocrite is the same way that an ex gang banger speaking to kids can be seen as a hypocrite. But when it comes to it, he should speak on these things because he's seen and experienced and been a part of this so-called "problem with hiphop". As he's said before "he is the culture" and he feels like it's his responsibility to speak on things of this nature otherwise he wouldn't be worthy of this label he's claimed for himself. And the irony of it is that niggas like you two would criticise him if he kept quiet and didn't speak on things and if he had the excuse of "I aint perfect so I can't speak on what's going on" I can guarantee y'all would criticise him. And on top of that, he has collaborated with younger artists in an attempt to show love, for example, kodak Blxst and even Keem and y'all still say he is a hypocrite for collaborating with them niggas who are "the problem with hip-hop" but if he is doesn't collaborate with then it's still his fault cause he's not ushering the youth into the game like OG's did. My question is who in the game can really speak on a topic like this cause if Kendrick is too much of a "hypocrite" to speak on it I can guarantee if a new-age rapper were to walk into the game and start preaching about hip pop being dead and the new age artist polluting the youth he'd be labelled a cornball and nobody would listen to them.
Kendrick Bowser
Iām a huge dot fan, but I agree with yāall. Dude has to drop more often from now on, especially after this battle as the dust settles. You canāt expect change as a bystander, especially for a 5 year spurt

i feel like this is where the influence em has had on dot really shows. the way his words n actions have impacted the culture (e.g pop out or just the whole boogeyman persona) really electrifies everyone just like em did in the early 2000s. cause this is on such a huge scale that even internationally hiphop fans n general media canāt but talk abt it
billy
but i totally agree he has to show n prove everything he talks abt which he has been doing (at least since mr. morale) to be fair plus the accountability part. we cant hold everyone accountable except for ourselves n our favorite musicians.

Idk guys i dont evven think its about music with kdot. He made his opinions on the state of hiphop known already i think hes talking about the black culture as a whole and how messed up it has become. True he hasnt really put anyone on in the same way wayne and jay have but i think his influence on his community is moreso where his priorities lie
Jerran Sims
If feel like heās putting the ball in our court as fans and products of our culture. It starts with us, not putting our energy and attention to the degeneracy within the culture (I.e. Toxic music blogs, fraudulent influencers, journalist, and higher ups). The idea is that by consciously choosing where to place energy and focus, especially as consumers, people can promote the aspects of the culture that resonate with integrity and authenticity. Itās about empowering the community to uplift what truly represents us.
Jae
That's fair I feel you on that. I think that's kind of what he was contemplating on this record when he was saying "sometimes I think bout what Lecrae would do". Even though I think he's been a better example than most, he's also had questionable moments, like adding fire to this whole beef to begin with
AD

Kendrick on Father Time "When Kanye got back with Drake, I was slightly confused Guess I'm not mature as I think, got some healin' to do" Drake reaches out to Dot to be on a track with him and Cole he shuts it down. Months later features on a track with Future whoes literally the "party" hes talking about and disses both of them which started all this is not growth. He didn't heal or mature.

Yall highlighted my biggest issue with Kendrick. He complains about the industry and what gets platformed but he does very little to usher in the sound he wants. Him and Drake represent two different sides of hip hop. Drake ushered in his sound. And highlighted the party, fun elements of hip hop. Kendrick was suppose to usher in the grounded introspective side. But he hasnāt. And he mad at the industry if doesnāt exist. This is like Jay and Nas except Nas (Kendrick) just disappeared while Jay Z shaped the culture.

Great message but there is hypocrisy. Seems like Kendrick got 2 different personalities. And Kendrick my guy. My favorite artist. But he has always been hypocritical. The message is šÆ. This party does need to die because itās getting outta hand. Drugs, sex, and killing is the main topic in rap rn and itās getting old. We all growing up so it makes me wonder who these people make music for. The ones who enjoy this type of degeneracy music is the kids. So is that who they make the music for? I think so. Thatās their target audience and itās scary. But in terms of Kendrick, I appreciate this message he put out. But youāre the one writing for someone like baby keem and co-signing that type of music. Hopefully keem takes a new route of what he talks about which I think he will, but we need to support an artist like JID who I think is the next big artist if we support him the way we should. Kendrick definitely gotta drop music after this tho. Show them the new route you envision in the music!! Donāt just talk about how the industry is fucked. We already know this. Just show us what it should be through the art.

I think calling someone out for being a hypocrite is a really frail argument just due to how easy it is to contradict yourself. I think it's a lot more valuable to take away what their intentions were in the moment, and whether they can acknowledge their past missteps. Since Kendrick talks a lot about his flaws, I think it takes away from a positive message that's being given to just harp on something that he's already taken blame for. You're right, he's not perfect and you can always argue that point, but he's already acknowledged that. It just seems like he wants to see the community do better
brian w
When I think of Kendrick all I think of is Hypocrite!

Noka Videos
Heās going to go and say how heās a hypocrite in a song and everyone will love it

Kendrick donāt realize two things can be true at once and thatās why it feels hypocritical. He is right that the industry is in a place and itās time the āparty diesā but he is also right that in order to build something up he has to destroy what was previously established! So yes, ultimately he just gone have to keep popping out and showing niggas or atleast shout the niggas who will

The number one card a Kendrick fan pulls when there back os against the wall is the black culture card. Well im in the community too. My question to you is why can Kendrick say i hate you then call someone a pedo. Then turn around and say we gotta do better. And u eat the shit up. Why do u think its cool for someone to attempt murder then turn around and say out da guns up. This is a simple case of contradiction but Kendrick dont feel like they can view it thst way. I guess they think Massa Kendrick gonna beat them for it

The way I look at this song is that Kendrick is pointing out he's hypocrisy and how he needs to let his shit "die" cause honestly this Drake and Kendrick "beef" is 2 sides of the same coin. Terrance, your comment on your Film Degree and the industry resonates strongly with me. I graduated a year ago from UNC Wilmington in Film Studies. Learned a lot of amazing things, saddening truths of the industry, and overall gained a lot of knowledge that is translatable into other fields. The point you made though about changing things and your lack of creation were very introspective and insightful. I say all this to get to two points. I couldn't speculate either of your financial or health situations, I hope and can pray that you and your families and children are well - but you both are so impactful even in the relatively narrow space you currently reside. I have been watching the both of you for a few years now because I loved your chemistry, truly love Terrell's breakdowns in real time (you really have a special ear and mind), and just overall I value what you think and feel because of how open, willing, and eager you two are for knowledge and art. I hope you get the light that clicks off in your heart for your film. Because I do not know where you attended, but I am sure you know some people only needed one film to breathe life. You both are impactful, intelligent, and blessed young men. God Bless you and your children.

The point about not ushering the next generation is false tbh, J. Cole has a whole label of new talent including JID one of the best rappers right now, Kendrick ushered in baby keem directly and talent like JID, Denzel Curry and others indirectly, Drake also has done his part in this even tho the people he ushered in do not make good music

Bro where was the hate, they had valid points? Is Kendrick gonna sit there and just lecture and preach about how disgusted he is about the culture and the industry as he simultaneously benefits from it? He wanted the crown, he got the crown. Now start making changes.

Terrell I understand your viewpoint and all but Kendrick has acknowledge himself being part of the problem years ago and on his last album (really all his albums) He speaks to needed to start within before fixing outward, his actions away from music over the years show he is sincere in his messaging, he wants to inspire change, people to do better. The beef wth drake was really just a vehicle for him to target what hes always had a problem with, he can just now speak it louder because more ears are glued to it and the perception of drake publicly is "he needs to grow up" not just for content of his music (becuase future, etc get a pass) his behaviour and reputation look childish and clown like.

As a Kdot fan, I enjoy the contextual critiques. Itās all fair. Most people that followed since album reviews love this. I donāt know if his whole thoughts are subject matter of the industry. I think itās the things going on behind the scenes to push certain agendas he doesnāt align with. Heās mentioned the industry in every song, and thereās something intentional about this being another IG drop vs. even a YouTube upload. I think the questions raised by the Bros are valid. I also think the questions will be answered soon. Itās hard to critique Kenny because you never know the full picture until his whole concept is done. We probably wonāt get the full picture until the Super Bowl, and the speculation until that is good for the game. Love the song. Love the rapping. Love the production. Leaves me feeling that there is more to come and soon.

Bruh as soon as somebody honest about Kendrick music all of the sudden itās āhateā Iāve noticed just how annoying Kendrick fans are oh my god

This high road morality shit from Kendrick is wack and contradicting
Poetic Locnest
Kendrick's message will have to be judged in the next 5 years. not immediate but I agree, he needs to usher in someone
stixupstixup
I'm not mad at warranted criticism, but throughout the whole beef, it felt like the rest of the world was partying and having a good time, whilst these two, especially Terrell, decided to convince himself he was being "mature" & "unbiased" by just shitting on Kendrick...I just feel like they were the guys in the corner of the party standing hating whilst everyone else was getting lit
Angel Medrano
Idk why yāall are mad in the video ask Kendrick fans they are making some fair pointss
Joel A Robinson
You mad cause they not biased LMAOOOO We can't give Kendrick no criticism or niggas like you will pop out. Go back to YouTube if u want to see Kendrick dickriding.

How many fan of both Kendrick and Drake I would say Iām a bigger Drake fan however, the argument that Kendrick is still on the side. He is speaking against his factually not true. Look at Mr. Morale. Look at To Pimp a Butterfly shit look at even. Damn good city there is a difference on the perspective he has and the things he talks about to the rest of mainstream hip-hop artists. Bad take
Big Ray
Iām sorry dawg I hate having to look like a Kendrick hater dawg I do but oh fucking brother!!! This Israelite always woke rap shit puts me to sleep! Now I bet if drake actually had a message like this in a new record (which he never will) yall would jumping around the room saying "let's go drizzy! Let's start speaking on some real shit"
Munya Bwoni
I understand that some Kendrick fans can be biased. But you guy's shouldn't fall into the trap of thinking people that disagree with your takes are just crazy Kendrick fans. I thought this song was about something we all see, the industry losing quality, he's not saying he's better, Kendrick has always acknowledged his flaws. Even in the beef on 6:16 in LA talking about how he's sinning. But does that mean he shouldn't give the positive message? Terrence mentioned it but not everything is about the beef guys lol. I agree that he needs to lead the new generation, that's a good critique.
himothy1017
It's been like this for a while tbh. It's crazy cause years ago on all of thier youtube reactions I use to value his opinions and thoughts cause they were genuine, now tho his ear for music and his brain has gone backwards and his thoughts always have a biased motive behind it that he can't shake off or hide well.
FuegoFrouki
Yall missed the whole message. You two sound like you have t never heard about duality.

The song reminds me of āMeet the Grahamsā , due to its a mood change song . The sound is changing from āNot Like Usā ( his last drop ) Thats one of the parties he saying letās let it die down now . Victory party done now reason No Round 2 Terrel . He preparing us for the positive raps and bars that he about to drop ( be patient Terrance ) Basically telling us all hip hop doesnāt have to be party music to be good music . Real Hip Hop should ALSO have a message, meaning , & uplifting not just party music . He stating we been partying too long now and need to appreciate the uplifting raps to help change our communities & usher in next generation of hip hop lyricist. Reason he talking about the media , influencers & corporate music people. They push the party raps harder than ever now. He is this generations NAS . Itās very similar to when NAS said hip hop is dead. He also talking about political parties too . How we need to burn those down start over too . Listen š§ again fellas & breakdown the lyrics while reading between the lines. Donāt be critical of the messenger, hear the message.
Pat
Yea but we all knew terrell was gonna do that. Bro acts like he's a fan of kendrick yet takes every chance he can get to shit on him.

Hip Hop is not dying,, it is simply just evolving. Just like all the other genres.

I hate the argument, that the Big Three havenāt ushered new talent for the next generation, because it is incorrect. J. Cole has done a great job of building up Dreamville, promoting young and talented artists like J.I.D, Bas, and EarthGang. These artists, especially J.I.D, have been gaining significant attention thanks to Cole's guidance and support. Kendrick Lamar has also invested in the next wave of talent. Baby Keem, while not as lyrically technical as Kendrick, has benefited greatly from Kendrickās mentorship, even though they are cousins. Keem has been brought into the spotlight, and his connection to Kendrick helps boost his visibility in hip-hop. When it comes to Drake, Iām not as familiar with his involvement in mentoring upcoming talent. Iām sure someone who follows his work closely could provide examples, but I can't comment without more knowledge. The common argument that the "big three" havenāt helped cultivate the next generation doesnāt fully hold up. The music industry has changed drastically with the rise of streaming and the internet, making it harder to see this influence as clearly as in the past. Additionally, there are so many other artists dominating the sceneāTravis Scott, Future, Gunna, A$AP Rocky, and othersāwho tend to overshadow the efforts of the big three in promoting younger talent. In short, the big three are doing their part, but the nature of the industry today makes it harder to notice, given how saturated the landscape has become.

Yall slipping, yall didnāt talk about the cover on IG ( normal start ) , yall didnt talk about date & time he dropped (significantly bc Dot is intentional) , and didnāt talk about the numbers ( 35 mil views & 2.5mil likes) in 24hrs bc that intentional on whatās going on in music industry ( free non copyrighted music he gave us again) . Yall seem to be more critical than appreciative on if the song was good or bad , lyrical , or a good vibe musically . Terrance is thirsty for more Dot like ME so I understand his criticism but talk about what more you want before even appreciating the art you were just given is crazy . Terrell is reaching trying to shoot the messenger down instead of pushing the positive message he hears . ( what we do a lot of the time in the black community) I said that bc you can tell from reaction & lines he does talk about. But Terrell is more concern of talking about Dots contradictions. I feel yall more poding than reacting to the music IMO.
Scotty
Now this is a legitimate critique. I completely agree that it is incredibly hypocritical when he works with people like Kodak. Itās one thing to make fun music every now and then but to work with someone who is so overtly degenerate and toxic to the people around him is a huge misstep. Really hope someone asks him about this in a future interview
Scotty
But how is calling out pedophilia or weirdo activity degeneracy? Plus heās performed at the Super Bowl before. Saying that he needs to drop an album after this is completely dismissing his entire discography which encapsulates the black experience in America and how different environments (fame) and motives (money, popularity, acceptance) change people. Dude has been ādoing something about itā for over a decade. People just acting surprised cuz itās directed at one of the biggest stars in music today instead of at himself or black culture in general.
BERTO
Kdot been a hypocrite
Dee L
I canāt grasp why Terrance is saying he needs to lead it as if he hasnāt done it on EVERY project. And if you want to put that aside why canāt this record be the beginning of him leading the charge. Cmon man
Scotty
Iām talking about the message in the music. As in what the average or enthusiastic listener can take away from the raps. Not his personal life, unless that personal life is the subject of his raps. Does Kendrick endorse or hype up cheating in his music?
Desiree Francies
Nah, he prides himself on being the best, he's literally too competitive to be part of the solution because he'd only be creating his adversaries. Not to mention he's not responsible for the problem. Which is why he resents the industry so much. He'd have to go against his nature to create any significant change.
Dee L
100 percent bro. Itās insane.
Dee L
You hit the nail on the head bro. Itās like he canāt view this art aside from the beef. If this song was on mr morale he wouldāve completely understood it. Kendrickās confliction of being righteous vs degenerate has been the MAIN theme is all of his music bro.
Andre
Itās kinda crazy how the Trayvon Martin bar was acknowledged, but yāall stamp him with being self righteous when heās LITERALLY addressing duality in this song. āSometimes I wonder what Lecrae would doā Kendrick realizes heās not there from a mindset perspective yet. He knows he contributed to the party despite his best efforts to be the antithesis over the years with his bodies of work. Like you all said, heās in the position to say āHey, we need to kill the party that Iām apart of because we need balanceā We donāt need to be perfect tomorrow, but letās all (including him) stop only focusing on the BS & work towards being better. The ones that donāt, can cease.
Dee L
Heās conflicted. Not contradictory. Thatās HUMAN. And heās said it from the beginning man yāall gotta think.
Telxer
youāre in way too deep
Telxer
?????
Dee L
My only issue is I feel like yall misinterpret some of his messages. If a nigga with bodies says we gotta stop killing each other, thatāsa viable message IF HE HAS ALSO STOPPED. and also you canāt say he canāt say this because weāre all evolving in real time. He couldāve changed his mind since he did bad things and wants to help others change too. He also displays his confliction with his own sin in the record. āI remember you was conflicted, misusing your influenceā you have to take the message in whole and not pick and choose which parts apply and what doesnāt. Thatās all.
Dee L
Idk how when this has been his message from GKMC
Desiree Francies
I know that. Think about it, how much sense would it make to endorse a rapper just to add their name to the list of people he wants to be considered better than??

Cmon now it's a difference in the degeneracy of a Kendrick and Cole and Schoolboy Q to these other artist that ONLY promote that and don't push positivity. They would be deemed too preachy and people wouldn't listen if they only talked about being righteous. "Dear God, draw the line, they tryna confuse 'em with me". I feel y'all about them retiring, I don't want that either but shit they've already put in their work for 10+ years and I feel like they see where Hip Hop is going as far as the sound.
Amara
I think he dropped this after the passing of rich homie Quan who was know to have an addiction to molly. He died from an overdose. I could be reaching but I feel like it's connected to that. Remember him and Mac Miller were very close and Mac died from an overdose too.
Dvfd
No matter what, you guys definitely had no bias for this. I appreciate the neutral take and even though I see a few things differently, I still enjoy your opinion and can agree with your sentiments.
Edgardo Corona
It's crazy how you criticizing a man for his take. Respect his take just cuz it's doesn't line up with your it doesn't mean it's horrible smh
Desiree Francies
I think Kendrick is a contradictory individual by nature & he's aware of that, & that's why he sounds frustrated in so much of his music. Because the man who wrote the control verse & literally said he wants to murder every other rapper, is not going to shine a light on artists just to give himself more people to kill. He wants to nurture the game but he also wants to compete with the other players. Plus he wants to preserve his anonymity, but he can't change anything without sacrificing it.
Kayen
I just gotta not watch any video where one of them feel like a warning has to be tweeted out lol because I get caught each time. It's a snowball effect with the assumptions and expectations with no actual exploration of the different perspectives that could be taken to help enhance the conversation and move it forward.
dnero-b
I think yāall looking at it from the wrong perspective. Kendrick is the one thatās standing up and being like look around at all the bullshit WE been letting go down starting with Drake and moving down the ladder

They said but kendrick youāre not perfect. yall were spitting facts on this. kendrick has been a hypocrite since the beginning of this whole beef
Kendrick Jenkins
I donāt think thatās what he says in the song at all tbh tho. He literally says he wants āagony, assault and batteryā and someone told him to āburn it down before he builds it back upā. I think the message is he chooses violence to get to whatever positive end he has in mind
Justyn Mitchell
26:00 - FACTS! Some of yāall really come off as brain dead. Iām not sure if itās just ānewā fans, maybe people lack actual knowledge of what they want to discuss or maybe itās just this new CPU/ social media mindset⦠but please try to understand this simple reasoning: CRITICISM IS NOT HATING. All because someone has critical thoughts or challenging theoryās about a persons art does not mean they hate it. Kendrick is intelligent and approaches his craft in that way. To me, both Mallory Bros gave great & fair feedback on his craft. It would be amazing to see what Kendrick has in mind fulfilled for Hip-hop/ the industry, but there is a lot of contradiction & reasonable questions given Kendrickās own words/actions - and that fair criticism. One of fav reactions to this track thus far.
Hyperaware
yaāll aint hating tho, I think having conversations like these is exactly what Kendrick wants instead of talking about other useless things. We understand each other a little better
Evan Brown
They donāt realize that Kendrick is doing exactly what yall want him to do, heās giving himself time to have something to talk about then putting in the music the best way he can instead of dropping some bullshit, Drake dropped mad album the last 3yrs & that last album is the worst of his discography excluding the dance joint, but Kendrick donāt need to post every west coast artist album to prove a message cause then itās him being dis genuine. Yāall are lowkey becoming brain dumb to what Kendrick has always done

Dont forget the whole message of the song but yeah im sure heās gonna drop before February of next year. If not then thats a bad look but cmon, he takes it seriously so I expect him to be doing something. Just donāt forget the message. You forget Future also mentions the bad side of his lifestyle, and its a different intention with music that people dont see. Another line you guys missed is āthe man that resides in patienceā. If you wanna see change, it takes time; especially if its been years and years of brainwashing people into feeding into the negative energy in entertainment.
kevin rizzo
I think some of the criticisms are fair and some are meh to me, but still valid. Making it seem like he has to be perfect to say anything would mean no one could criticize anything ever. He gave people a platform at the pop out, when he couldāve just done a solo concert. Him being hypocritical in the battle and glorifying things, and then coming with this track is okay to me, because it was a battle and this is beyond that now, but I understand how you guys have an issue with that hypocrisy. I do agree he needs to act on his words and try to revitalize the hip hop genre cause Iām sick of hearing everyone say itās dying for the past 5 or so years. I love the video, and the conversations that you guys brought up, even if I donāt fully agree.
Stizz
I can tell when a critique is bullshit
Miles
You 100 percent want them to glaze because I know you heard just like I heard them say it was a good track, your problem is that they didn't overly give that sentiment the whole video, they actually pointed out contradictions that get kdot fans sour
Don
Very good perspective on the song. At the end of the day everyone has their own opinions. Letās respect em please
Marvelus
Terrell, respectfullyā¦.your takes have been horrible and very biased lately. You had better judgment before the beef, idk what happened but now all you focus is on pointing out hypocrisy and contradictions towards Kendrick. I watched yall listen to MMATBS, so saying āKendrick isnāt perfectā is like āok broā when did he ever give us impression that he is. It sounds like u just had to find something to dislike. You know Kendrick not trying to be this perfect nigga. I also watched you break down DAMN in a different kinda way, so I know you have better judgement than what youāve been giving. This beef changed the way u listen to Kendrick music. And this is coming from a Day 1 fan of the Bros reviews/reactions.

Yea but this aint smack dvd these are big named artists. Kdot and Drake are artists who battled, not battle rappers by profession. So as an artist in Kdot, you look funny droppin not like us and lying on drake then dropping a song a few months later saying stop the lies, let the clown show let the party die. Complainin bout the state of the industry but only be droppin every 4 years. It just looks bad g
Cameron Gaines
nothing about this was hate... damn can folks not critique anything?
Salvage
why everything gotta relate to drake? drake is doing completely different things than kendrick, hes putting out documentary footage and some new tracks while kendrick is trying to send some sort of message and wants change in the industry. Drake never been the guy to criticize and want change in the "culture" thats why it doesnt apply to him.
Miletus
What did Drake try to change, I'm genuinely curious, I do not know what Drake has ever tried to shift culturally.
XJ.
It's nothing new. Kendrick/Cole have always talked about and themed "Contradiction/Duality" in their music (Born Sinner/GKMC./DAMN./I Am Not Your Savior) to not seem preachy. Because you're right nobody's perfect.
Miletus
I need to rewatch the video, but where do they say "perfect"? It was very easy for him not to bring on a bunch of gang members for the pop out, he could dropped his first diss on his own instead of a song with future, he did not have to put Kodak on his last album. These are all fair concerns imo
Justošš¹
Everything comes back to the āStansā like bro ignore them
Miles
If king kendrick is perfect and can never be critiqued than just say
King Dee
Respect the thoughts, agree with some of it but I feel like you guys missed or schemed over context. Felt like you were too focused on relating this to the beef that just happened. Kendrick is not absolving himself from the party. If you notice he is contrasting his dark thoughts of violence with a cry for help from god. The hook is constantly asking god for help with things. His final verse also shows that he is aware of his own need to be better: āI wanna be like Dee-1 but I āā he stops himself because he still struggles with trying to empathize and be just that. This felt like something that was just on his heart. I respect releasing this and opening himself up to criticism, rather than playing it āsafeā so he could continue to ride a wave about a win. People who thought he won or didnāt werenāt going to change their mind behind this.

So many people in these comments think Kendrick is absolved from criticism lmao, all they are saying is that he needs to back up his words with action. He cannot change anything with just some mp3 files. He cannot just leave this record on its own, he needs to carry this energy in everything he does next otherwise is pointless
Carlos Casanova
I agree with most of what yāall saying but I do think this is meant to be the perspective of other artists too. People donāt want to drop actual art, because their spirit gets tried, ie no one gives a fuck and doesnāt listen because people are stuck at this party wanting degenerate shit. And heās not even blaming the fans, heās blaming the people taking advantage and pushing propaganda, that trick the audience into wanting to listen to bullshit. As an artist myself, I definitely resonated with him from that point of view because it does feel that way. And so maybe this is him publicly saying that we should all end the party for everyoneās sake.
Miles
Idk man but watching the video will help to explain
Justošš¹
Everyone that agrees in the comments just repeating what they said and saying āI thought so tooā like gtfo 𤣠just listen to the music and stop making fantasies in your head to make it more interesting for yourself

I feel the message of this song aligns with a sentiment Iāve had for years now. Hip hop is a double edged sword. We love the degenerate behavior in hip hop when rappers tear one another down, but when someone dies we all start saying āitās sad how he died so senselesslyā. The song is about the culture which Kendrick admitted to being a part of. Just look at how enthralled we all were because two black men were attacking one another with vitriol. Sadly We are the hypocrites

Justošš¹
Like wtf were they talking about lol
Gods_legacy
What do you call all the albums he put out ..what do think heās attempting to do?
Dazja
Yall want Kendrick to do shit he NEVER did lol. Most artist that fuck with Kendrick and he fuck with them normally say he supports them behind closed doors. He supposed to take pictures and post shit to prove to yāall he helping people? Also yall forgot what he said he still an old school Gemini š. Why he canāt be diverse about what he talks about thatās what makes him a MC that most of the older generation love. Iām a fan of both artist to make clear for people that wanna cuss me out š. Also he so smart he knew we would fuck with āNot like usā cause yall donāt wanna hear the MC shit yall wanna hear him do the party shit where he talking his shit going at niggas. Thatās exactly the point of saying most of the industry is that and thatās not good so itās time to let the party die so the youth can stop dying. He aināt promote half the shit these other rappers be doing including Drake so I donāt agree when yall was trying to say he was doing what everybody else was doing noooooo he was participating in competition which has always been apart of Hip hop way before him.
Isaiah
Us Kendrick fans can never enjoy a reaction from the Mallory Bros anymore š¢
JaKar
Party dying so our kids can live in the future is also because thereās soooo much drug/pill music, gangbangin music right now that it aināt safe for the future at all the party gotta die
Kianoš©š“
AMEN to everything that was said. This is exactly why ppl have a problem with Kdot. Wanna spread degeneracy in a beef but then condone everybody elseās shit. Out of him Drake and Cole, the one that has actually tried their best at ushering in a protege is Cole. Dreamville actually has amazing artists and a lot of ppl think JID is his guy. Drake at least gives the stimulus with his featured for artists, Kdot hasnāt done a damn thing. Hella support for him but when its their turn he is nowhere to be found!
Andre Smith
Real kdot fans have no problem waiting for the quality of a full conceptual album that he delivers.
zak
seeing their take as hate is crazy lmao
Stizz
Shit is ridiculous
BAYNE
I think one of his points in this record is that he can be a hypocrite sometimes too so he needs to start from scratch too, he has to let his own party die
zak
this is the best take i agree, starting conversations is good but he needs to come with finishers at some point
Hyperaware
I dont think Kendrick can control what new artists focus on, thats what Drake tries to control all the time. Kendrick is just seeing what the audience is promoting and what the influencers and reporters are pushing, and their narratives towards negative things. Its a lot of famous personalities that try to keep feeding entertainment thats detrimental to us. You can lead a horse to water, but you canāt force it to drink. Kendrick sees there needs to be a total reset and cleansing of all the shit that doesnt move people towards right. Its good to challenge and question Kendrickās ideas but he isnt perfect. Heās fed up and choosing āviolenceā. It raises questions for what heāll say next.
Justošš¹
Like bruh their points are terrible
XJ.
Also they all attempted an "usher" of new artist. Dreamville/OVO/Pg Lang/Features with new artist. Truthfully it's up to the audience to decide where Hip Hop goes.
Stizz
Wow horrible takes all thru out this vid and just cop out by saying itās āholding him accountableā
Jayden24
To me this recordās message really aligns with Kendrickās career. It makes sense for him to hate ts, the nigga made Swimming Pools. Look at TPABās message and the Lucy thing. Mr Morale. I get that he stepped out of that like character for the Drake shit, but to me it sounds like he did it to change the same industry/culture hes complained about for his whole career. Drake was the biggest face of that industry. But yeah, this would not make much sense if he didnt drop any more music or do something significant with pglang to prove hes not just rapping to try and change shit, but hes acc making a difference
Justošš¹
The reaching is crazier than Odell
zak
he doesnāt need to be perfect he needs to act, if heās sick of the way the game is then he should flood it and make it worthwhile for more ppl to pop off of conscious rap. if the conscious rapper comes once every 5 years he canāt complain that everybody else is getting it in
Sean Smith
They said it. He works with people who spread the degeneracy.
Jack Moody
Kendrick is wrestling between becoming Jay Z or becoming Lupe Fiasco. He has the money and influence to go the Jay Z route, but the politics and morals to go the Lupe route. I like to think he's wise enough to do the right thing
Lerenzo Roma
It was a rap beef thoš¤£š¤£š¤Ŗthat we all ask for
zak
he canāt have his cake and eat it too, he called the man a pedo and got his biggest song off of it + his biggest look (Super Bowl). kendrick is speaking facts but if heās not going to do anything about it he should shut up until he does, i personally donāt think heās done yet but if he doesnāt drop this is an empty message ngl
Kendrick Jenkins
Fair criticisms i think
Isaiah
Always hating!!
Isaiah
These niggas looking for Kendrick critique every song. But yall finding the any complement for every drake song since beef even though this way better
Gods_legacy
Terrible takes
Scotty
Is Kendrick part of the degeneracy tho? How is criticizing people degeneracy? Thats not what heās talking about. Heās talking about people not taking the craft seriously, and using it to further their ulterior motives. And I think Kendrick NOT dropping makes perfect sense. Itās him saying this isnāt about publicity, this isnāt about money, this is about RAP and the culture, and nothing more. Dropping an album shortly after kinda seems like a cash grab or just a ploy to gain more traffic for his upcoming project. And I think not enough people are giving J Cole credit for being pretty much the only artist truly pushing new, fresh, and promising talent that stays true to the spirit of Rap music.
zak
nah theyāre speaking 100% facts
Jackii Uchiha š
šÆi agree. But Kdot fans take everything as hating
Ricky Jenkins
Mustard albums was actually cool. Stop using Kendrick not posting mustardās album as an excuse not to listen to it. Thatās crazy.
Don
Kendrick started and participated in the bull shit and now you want the party to die lmaooo come bro. U know what u started

Rell with the Copenhagen shirt for the k dot review lol

Unrelated but ayo Terrance to your take on the last pod about drive. I thought "Everyone's 9 is already written"? There's plenty of niggas with dreams that will/went through similar hardships to TP and won't make it. Terrell was half right just like you were. The equation is Drive+Destiny+ Circumstance. You shouldn't have to go through hardships/trauma to mold you into being great. And if you believe in Destiny/Fate you very well might've got to the same future you're currently living in. Nobody knows š.

Theyāre wrong about them not ushering new artist, cause theyāll all trying to with their labels, but just because that got ushered into superstardom, doesnāt mean theyāll be able to do the same, especially when times are way different compared to back then, niggas donāt care if your signed to a big rapper. Are u dope? No. See yah
