I have a theory. I think Lincoln and Lynn are going to either mislead everyone thinking they're going to one place but in reality, they're going somewhere else entirely or they're going to fake their deaths so the family will stop looking for them. Both are risky, but if they work, they'll lose people looking for them.

As it often is, you're correct about everything. Even though this story is heavily focused on Lincoln and Lynn on their own (their thoughts) or together, we can't ignore how important Clyde is to Lincoln, and while he had to leave a letter to say goodbye to his family cause otherwise they'd probably wouldn't be able to leave, he'd need to hear his best friend's voice one last time, to at least get some closure. Especially cause if he just went missing, it would be all that much harder for Clyde to deal with it.

Alright, Plan C it is! I loved the callback to Secrets, where Lincoln played the role of reassurer to convince Lynn they could be together. Now the roles have been reversed—it’s Lynn’s turn to reassure Lincoln their future together is possible. But it’s for the best that the two of them keep moving on right now—they can’t afford to be sitting ducks. The suspense just keeps on coming and growing… During the past couple of pages, I was wondering if Clyde was going to make an appearance, whether in person or in passing. Because in my mind, I kept hypothesizing that the Louds would’ve had him come over and then broken the news to him about Lincoln’s abrupt departure. Either way, Clyde’s world will be turned upside down with this revelation and we all know he’s not the greatest when it comes to embracing change. So now the question becomes, how will Clyde take the news that his best friend is about to go off the grid permanently? But at least here, Lincoln is taking the initiative to tie up loose ends. Clyde is still his best friend and he, too, deserves to know what has been going on lately. Besides Lily, Clyde will also get as proper of a goodbye that Lincoln can manage. It’s sad that circumstances have played out this way but like the rest of the Louds, hopefully one day Clyde will understand and forgive Lincoln.
