The reason why Sam can't just run away to start another life is that he's the oldest heir of his house. As long as he is alive, once his dad dies. Sam inherits the land and title. If he takes the Black at the Nightwatch, he gives up all rights and name.

Also, regarding queens (like Cersei) or queens-in-the-making (like Dani), you might find a useful GoT companion in the documentary series/book She-Wolves by Helen Castor, which looks at the queens of Plantagenet England (3 queens, 1 empress) and subsequent Tudor period (2 queens, 1 almost-queen). The work highlights the dangers, pressures, motivations and responsibilities of a queen, whether as mere wife to a king or attempting to rule in their own right. The Plantagenet era (1100s-1485) inspires a LOT of what happens in GoT.

Adding to the previous comments on eunuchs - like spymaster Varys, they are often found in positions of power in the ancient & medieval worlds, esp Byzantine & Chinese history. Exactly why and how this was the case I don't know. Eg 3rd C BC eunuch Zhao Gao was prime minister to China's 1st emperor Shi Huangdi and assumed control by manipulating the weak-willed 2nd emperor Er Shi.

You aren't being delicate, and your examples are inaccurate and lame and a poor description. eunuch is also miss spelled. a eunuch is when a boy has his testicles removed, which prevents them from going thru puberty because testosterone is produced in the testes which have been removed so the boys remain boys their entire lives. Anne Rice wrote a really creepy book called Cry To Heaven about a boy who is castrated so that he will not lose his soprano singing voice. I get why you might want to make fun of the whole idea but it's silly to use euphemisms and be inaccurate better to use the right terms.

Think what we've seen. - ep1 - Little boy pushed out of a tower. - ep2 - A direwolf is slain, and exactly at the same moment Bran awakens. - ep3 - Arya has her first lesson with Syrio Forel, and we imagine what she will do with the knowlege. -ep4 - Catelyn takes Tyrion prisoner in the most dramatic way possible. It's lucky she was in her homeland...

I love how Littlefingers goes in to dash all of Sansa's youthful dreams. She dreams of dashing, gallant young kinghts and handsome noble princes, She is starting to realize how naive she has been, and Littlefinger comes in and tells her just how foolish she has been. A kinght who pushed his little brother into a fire, a joust that is more of a murder, and no nobility anywhere. And among it all, Littlefinger being oh, so smooth, but not quite as helpful as he was to Ned.

Yes, in this world bastards born in the north are given the surname snow. It is a regional naming convention but I don't remember how much they touch on these bastard surnames in the show beyond just a couple. There are others but I am not going to list them here nor do I suggest looking anything up because it might cause you to see spoilers that you don't want to see.

Very enjoyable watching the series again with you. You have good instincts about the show and the characters. Hot Fuzz connection. The man playing the Hound was in Hot Fuzz as well. He was the large man that only said Yarp or Narp.

Regarding how to edit it for YT I think the best way to do it would be in 4 parts. I know you're considering 2 but I just think 2 is too few too properly capture an entire season. 3 YT videos could maybe work and have them comprised of GoT episode 1-3, 4-6 and 7-10 respectively with having the last video be a bit longer as there's usually a lot of things happening by the end of the season :)

Hey Nat I'd love to see you do like an end season or after first season before second and so on just give your thoughts as a whole for what happenes in each season; i love the little time we spend after each film or show where you kind of decompress and put together everythin you saw. Idk if you'd want a seperate like 10 min thin that you describe how you feel about eveything and maybe what you hope and suspect to come in the series would be awesome or even just at the end of the finale episodes for each season!
