Origins: For those unaware, we discussed the potential for a videogame being worked on way back at the start of 2024 (It's August already!?) It's a passion project I've been wanting to start for years, since the pandemic really, and I was over the moon to announce that we'd finally gone live with a game last month!
If you somehow missed that announcement, I don't blame you. 2024 has also been a year we've felt discouraged from sharing projects tangential to the main page content, so we promo'd it on our other social media presences. Where to now?: As you've probably seen by now, The Ritual was just a tech demo, mainly created to self-prove that I could do so. I wasn't thinking Visual Novels would be the primary form of "game" I'd started creating, but I can't deny how much work Ren'Py does for you during the creation process. I've since decided that - for the foreseeable future - Ren'Py VN's are what we're gonna be focusing our "game dev" time trying to create.
So, what about the next game? I decided that I enjoyed the lore I'd crafted for The Ritual, and I intend to keep going with it, albeit changing things up to be more in line with an actual story. I'm currently in the process of finalizing all the characters you'll meet in this first chapter of the new game, which probably won't continue to be called The Ritual, but who knows! Maybe it'll continue to be relevant to the story, and the title will just make too much sense to swap out! I dunno, but when I do, I aim to ensure you do too!

That's pretty much all I've got for now! I will do my absolute best to ensure I have weekly updates for y'all, and hopefully - maybe before the end of the month - I'll have some visual updates to share as well! Until then, see ya Friday!

Based on metrics and personal preference, the POV character will always be the dom/giver in this scenario. And, for the time being while I'm learning to build games, they will almost always be male, since I plan to make games based on what I know to be my largest userbase. Where we go in the future, we'll just have to see...

I enjoyed the setup for the game, and the game definitely has some great potential with your artstyle! As for your future plans with it, are we going to be playing a character that might get tied up etc, or is it going to remain how it is as a kind of "POV" game where the player is more of an observer who does the tying up? If that makes sense, I'm not quite sure I worded that right lol.
