"Have you ever wondered where SCP-XXXX (The vase) came from? There is no record of the civilization or worship the affected D-Classes have been shown. With that fact, it won't be a surprise to find out it's not actually from earth, let alone the realm of existence we live on...
There once thrived a world in another universe cherished by a god of judgement, beauty, fertility and paternity. It's rulers imposed their worship with a powerful relic given to them by their god. A vase said to judge and transform those who touch it, turning them into an ideal body for the worthy or a disfigured pile of meat for the sinful. With it, millions were processed into perfect communities and millions more undesirables were grotesquely purged by the vase.
One day, the vase vanished, swept from the very universe by an unknown thief for an unknown reason. With their holy relic gone, so was their only communion to their beloved god and the ruler's right to rule. The world's civilizations violently collapsed, cities became infertile, polluted and ruined.
Over hundreds of years those elites who still held faith turned to science to restore the rule of their deity. They hoarded the world's remaining resources and bordered off paradises, full of the only nature left in the world, and made unstable and violent body-altering chemicals in an attempt to replicate the divine magic of their beloved god.
Their purpose, judgement and manuscripts have been muddled and misinterpreted through hundreds of years of absence. They slowly process the populous with machines and their mad memory of faith to try prevent the death of humanity just long enough in hopes that one day, their beloved relic will be found.
For now, they allow the 'worthy' amongst the wretched people of the wastes to feel grass between their toes and hear birds for the first time..."

So the vase is actually a relic to a fertility god/goddess (figured that but good to have confirmation) but it’s not from earth but rather a alternate universe that had fallen into discord since the vase “somehow” made it to earth. Those worshippers of the Deity used science to replicate the process to the best of their knowledge but because there’s no official text of the Deity the process is based solely on their interpretation which was programmed into a machine
