Blog: Art survey, game direction and future plans!
🕑 Added 2019-10-19 13:11:04 +0000 UTCGreetings everyone! I want to give special thanks to everyone who participated in the recent Art Opinion Survey! This has been a great opportunity to really get an in-depth understanding of what you like so far, what you want to see added in the future, and how you feel about the overall game direction. Opportunities like this one are the best part of our Pateron community, as it both allows you to voice your opinions, and me to be better in touch with the players.
And without further ado, the results!
The first thing I asked you was related to the overall balance of art in the game. Looking at the results, a majority of you wished that there was more seductive art, but there was also a fair portion that were happy with the current balance.
=>Going forward, for me this means that there will be a tangible pivot towards alluring scenes, but it will not be a completely radical change. You can expect this new art to be manifested in a variety of different ways (more info below).
Next, I asked you about animations. The results here have been pretty split. With only 20% being a clear positive, I think animations will not be a major focus down the line. There may be an occasional one here and there, but only if it doesn't drain resources from the images.
=> The game art will continue to be focused on still images.
Next, I asked you how you feel about clothes and clothing options in the game:
Very strongly, you indicated that clothes are important to you!
=>As a result, I am committing to doing more in this aspect in future patches. If the project funding continues to grow, a full inventory system with art is also possible.
Which brings us to the transformations:
Clearly, this is a contentious topic. I know that by definition, you all care very deeply about the transformation aspect of the game - over 50% of you voted for physical and mental changes
Going by what unites us rather than divides us, an overwhelming majority of players voted for further non-human transformations.
=>Analyzing this particular result has been very important to me. A lot of you sent me messages expressing support for the unusual and unique aspect of the game. As a result I think that going for the commonly found bimbo route is not the best solution. However this doesn't mean that it will be completely absent either.
From the start, I wanted this to be a project with a lot of choices and a lot of freedom to craft your own story. With your support, this vision is slowly coming into fruition. What is clear is that the main theme - the succubus transformation - will continue to be central to the narrative.
From there on, depending on what you do and how you play, Alex can stay clever and witty, unveiling the secrets of the village, or lose her sanity and fall prey to the numerous dangers lurking about. Bringing those narrative choices will be my primary focus in the long run.
Moving forward, most of you were happy with the way the project mixes horror and erotica. From the remainder, a clear majority wishes for a little more action going on.
=> The current balance will be retained, with a slight shift towards the arousing.
From this graphic, I learned that it's important to you to have an option to "win" the game and return to normal. This has always been my vision as well.
But getting there will not be easy! Along the way, you can expect many interesting obstacles and traps ;)
All in all, this survey has been very helpful to me in stirring the project on the correct course. As always, I will continue listening to your feedback, while remaining true to the creative vision for Transylvania.
Many of you have stated you want to keep this horror experience unique, and your feedback and support can help it be the best version of itself!

Hm! The transformation statements are indeed contentious! Although it would be extra work, I wonder if the answer could be to allow for various sorts of transformations, but to let the player guide which ones and how much of it happens to our intrepid protagonist. :3 But oh that combinatorial explosion!
