Whilst there is a part of me that just enjoys collectibles in games, I especially enjoy them when there is in game rewards for collecting. So what I wanted to check with you all in what sort of reward would you want to incentivise you to want to collect them.

I agree with everyone (so essentially what Tristan said lmao). And I’ll also put in my 2 cents for why I disagree with the former 2 options. It really boils down to breaking progression and strength limit. If you give exp per collectible, you’ll suddenly face the problem that if a person is 100%-ing throughout their journey, they would be noticeably stronger than if they missed collectibles. This would make normally difficult/challenging encounters easier than they should be. Alternatively, giving gold for collectibles makes it so that you can either buy/create gear that is stronger than it should be for your point of progression. Or the player can buy more consumable items, again making light of what should be more challenging encounters like boss battles.
