According to the Talkville Podcast, she did shave her head and was told ahead of time when she auditioned that that would need to happen.

Its so funny you said they're always in the hospital I was just about to comment that haha. It did look like she really shaved her head but I can't tell 0_0 like I'll shave my head, if I got a reoccurring character role but not for a one off episode. Heck nah..(the actress said "commitment")
