Overall i wanted to thank you all for your support of Glyde and me as developer. A lot has been going on since the Prologue release and while it isn't a beautifully written update, i wrote this on Discord and i thought you should read it as well :) So here you go and sorry about the wall of text!
In terms of development currently I'm waiting on assets essential to start working on the game, the rig is taking it's time but should hopefully be finished soon. Once that is done we have to test the rig and do some basic animations such as idles, movement etc. Once these work we have to test the rig and see if it can be transferred and reused for other dragons. When i know that rig is ready to go then i can start implementing it properly into the game. I don't want to use placeholder old Glyde model because then i will have to rip it all apart later anyway so i would rather not do it twice. Once the rig and animations are done, things should progress after that and i will be actively working on the game and all the systems. In meantime i'm working with artists and the composer to create new concept art, illustrations, 3D models and music for the game as those are things that i don't need to do personally. I just tell people what they need to do and communicate with them and they deliver finished product and get paid. These assets will allow me to lay groundwork for the look of the regions and expand on stuff that's already established in the demo and existing artwork.
Overall I'm still thinking about how to tackle the full game with resources i have. Unfortunately, Patreon is simply not enough for me to work on Glyde full time so as it currently stands Glyde is just a personal passion project that i will be working on in my free time. The income helps and i'm freelancing what i can, however as things stand, i have to often choose between either having something done for more expensive price and have it done quick and sacrifice other things as i won't be able to afford them. Or i can buy things cheaper but they take much, much longer, weeks and sometimes even months. I'm not able to afford to hire a programmer or anyone else full time, that's what Kickstarter was meant for but it unfortunately didn't work out and if it did it would still only maybe allow to pay for 2-3 full time people...
Because of that overall I'm still thinking on how to tackle the full game with resources i have and not sure how long it will take or how it will go. On top of all that i obviously have my actual day job, my second daughter will also be born in 2 months so not sure how much time i will have for Glyde outside of family/work. I love Glyde with all my heart and i want to make something cool for you guys but i just don't know what and how much will be possible. After a day at work often when i come home i spend time with my daughter and chill playing some games in my backlog. I'm going to try and organise things in the future but until after the baby is born and we have managed to kind of organise our life i'm unable to say how long it will take for Glyde to come out.
I don't want to give up on the project and this world and it's really fun for me to share new stuff with you guys as i'm building this universe but in terms of the game itself at the moment it's really hard for me to say what will happen and how long it will take. Don't expect Glyde to come out in next 2 years but don't be surprised if it comes in another 10 years or so if things keep going this way :) Maybe in the future i will be able to really find some kind of massive funding/investor/team to make the game a reality but for now it will just have to stay as it is. A fun project i'm working on in my free time.
Overall if you aren't happy with the progress and how long it takes, i totally understand your decision if you want to withdraw your Patreon support, if you decide to stay and support me as the developer, thank you so much!
There will be something cool coming soon for you guys once all the primordial soundtracks are finished :)
