Definitely a more deliberately paced film than many modern movies, with a strong focus on conversation to carry the story—along with some wonderfully acted character portrayals. Emma Thompson won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as playing Elinor. It’s true, Alan Rickman will never lose his Snapeness! This reaction was exactly what I needed this evening, thank you. :)

the "bows" in their hair are old rag curls. It's how you curled your hair back then. you'd usually wet your hair and wrap it in some kind of cloth & tie it in a knot or bow. a barouche is a type of carriage. usually only for upper middle class/upper class. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barouche also "bitch" as in female dog. He meant his female pointer. "Lawn edges were best trimmed with sheep shearing clippers. This gardening family is using shears, a rake, and a scythe in their cottage garden." from Jane Austen World

I've always had a special fondness for these Austen stories. The manners of the day in England beguile my senses. Yes, it was rigid and often cruel, but it seems so civilized (or maybe, polite), too. Well, at least the language does. And such a stellar cast. Thanks, Hannah, for bringing it his way.

One of my favorite movies. I love Olives btw. lol I love Jane Austen, such a relaxing style she has. More of a girl movie than a guy movie. Thanks Travis!!

Yes, an all-star cast. BBC knows how to bring it and let's just say Dr. House was playing it down here. IDK what happened between this movie and House but his career har fourished.
