Pokemon Go: When you battle in GYMS you only knock down a portion of the defending pokemons health, so if they have like 3000hp it's gonna take several battles to knock them out completely. But you should be able to solo gyms pretty easily. You get a team of 6 pokemon and can just keep rebattling them until they are all dead. Unless there is one of the defending pokemons owners nearby, that can keep feeding their pokemon berries to heal them
