I think you're right - He'll be back in a few, but not for a Series 4 it will be individual box-sets like all the other doctors
The Doctor
Maybe that's why they finished the diary series and started a new one. Because I feel like the point of the diary series was centered around her going more or less around the Doctor's timeline, so with a little bit of luck the new one will be independent.

Haven't gotten to listen to it yet, so I'll hold off on any opinions, but I will say that I'm getting really tired of them doing "ooh river song meets [insert random character]" stories, instead of just writing stories for river song to stand alone in. It doesn't do her character any favors, and it also hinders the other character she's getting randomly introduced to, especially since they have to resort to increasingly ridiculous contrivances to maintain the status of ten being the earliest doctor that she actually remembers meeting.
