Get a CC card, and only use that for your purchases. Not your Debit Card. Only use your checking account to pay off the CC card once a month. Builds up credit, you just have to keep in mind that you can only spend what you have in your checking account. If a CC card is stolen, that is not your money. If the Debit card is stolen, that IS your money, and probably harder to get back. Also, this is advise from someone who does NOT work in the financial industry, so take it with a grain of salt.
