Ben the Werewolf: Part Three (rough draft)
🕑 Added 2023-05-24 20:00:01 +0000 UTCThe phone call came in the middle of a deep sleep. When you answered it, you were barely awake, in fact you almost fell half asleep again when you hung up. But it finally clicked, and now, here you were in the waiting room of the hospital.
“Here.” ben came up beside you, extending out a cup of coffee.
You sighed with relief, grabbing the cup with both hands. “Thank you.”
Ben took the seat beside you, stretching out to show off his Pokemon pajama pants. “Nothing to it. Just gotta follow that red line all the way to the cafeteria and back.”
You smiled at him then looked back towards the entrance to the back of the hospital. You sipped your coffee, burning your tongue but it didn’t matter.
Ben rubbed your back. “It’s okay to be okay. It’s early, but it’s okay. Stuff like this is far too common.”
“I know,” you breathed out slowly. “But I also know Rowan and I know how he worries.” You leaned back, gazing into your coffee, hoping it held all the answers to the universe like usual.
Ben patted your knee. “I hate hospitals you know.”
You glanced at him.
“The smell of blood, the scent of so many bodies. It’s overwhelming.” He tapped the side of his nose. “Some werewolves can get used to it. I never could. It’s always been a bit…frightening.”
“Thanks for being here now at least. I know it’s not much but-”
Ben chuckled. “Not much? You’re about to deal with something huge. I wouldn’t leave you here alone.”
You leaned over to kiss him, but the doors opened and one of th enurses, Elyse, came over to you. “Your brother wanted to tell you everything is fine. The little girl is in the nicu right now and mommy is resting.”
Your heart dropped down into yoru stomach. “Nicu?” You stood up instantly. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“She’s a preemie,” Elyse stated calmly. “And she is rather small. This is normal procedure. I promise, she’ll be fine.”
“But will Rowan be fine?” You urged.
Elyse made a face and Ben stood up behind you, taking hold of you. “I’ve got her. I’m sure you’ve got your hands full back there.”
“Use tranquilizer on him if you have to,” you called after Elyse as she went back through those doors.
“You were right,” Ben whispered. “They had a girl.”
You were clutching your chest as it felt so tight. “A girl,” you whispered. “She said she was tiny.”
Ben kissed the top of your head and pulled you into a hug, rubbing your back. “Everything will be fine. The baby, the mother, your brother.”
“Maybe,” you scoffed and clung tighter onto Ben.
Later, you and Ben went to the grocery store to get food and some supplies for Rowan and Lacey. You got anything that might help them while the new baby was in the nicu.
Rowan looked drawn when you saw him, you could tell him mind was in a million and one separate places. He wasn’t his usual self, and that was jarring.
“Thank you for this,” Lacey said as you tied the pink balloons to her bed. She picked up some candy from the treats you brought and waved it towards Rowan. “I think his sugar is low.”
Rowan sighed, looking towards her with all the love in his heart. He smiled softly. “You shouldn’t be worrying about me now. You did more than anyone should last night.”
Lacey smiled and continued to wave the candy at him. You took it and placed it into his hands were he sighed heavily. “Do you think she’ll like candy like me?”
“We’re hoping Lacey has the stronger genes,” Ben tried making a joke, but it barely reached Rowan.
He rubbed the candy package in his hands and nodded. “Yeah, me too.”
There was silence in the room, a strange phenomenon when Rowan was present. You cleared your throat and put on a smile.
“Have you thought of a name?” You asked.
“We have a list,” Lacey said quietly. She glanced over towards Rowan. “But we made an agreement, if it was a boy I would choose. And if it was a girl, well, Rowan would choose.”
“Poor thing,” Rowan sighed, cracking his first joke the entire time. He smiled sadly then raised his head. “I’m sorry I’m such a downer. But I was so scared last night-”
“You don’t have to tell us,” you sat down beside him and put your arm around him.
Rowan leaned into you. “You two have been here all night. You should go home and rest. You have that big romantic trip tomorrow.”
“That’s not important right now,” Ben interjected.
Rowan sat up suddenly and pointed at Ben. “Oh yes it is. You two go, Lacey’s family will be in soon, and Dad should be getting to the house right about now.” He lowered his head and pressed it to your forehead. “We’ll be taken care of. You should enjoy your trip.”
You pinched his cheek. “We’ll come back later.” You kissed his nose then stood and went to hug Lacey.
In the car, you sat there and breathed out slowly. For a day so close to summer, it was surprisingly cold out.
Ben stood outside the car for a moment, taking in deep breaths through his nose. “Smells like rain.” he said as he got intot he car and cranked it.
“Should we really go on that trip now?” You murmured.
Ben turned down the radio. “Rowan said we should. But if you don’t feel like it-”
You shook your head. “You made so many plans, I’d hate for you to lose that money. Especially right now.”
“Money isn’t what matters right now. The trip is important to me, but for other reasons.” Ben reached over and put his hand on your thigh. “Let's get some sleep before we make any major decisions. Alright?”
You nodded and grasped his hand upon your leg. “Right. You’re right.”
You already knew Ben was planning to propose on this trip. It was obvious given the timing, as well as Rowan not being subtle when he asked you to help him ‘ring shop’ for Lacey, even though she already had a ring.
At home you rested, but woke before Ben. You fixed coffee, eyeballing your luggage in the hallway. You’d bought new clothes for the trip, nice new shoes, a fancy dress for the fancy restaurant he wanted to take you to. You knew he wasn’t proposing there, you already made your distaste for public proposals clear ages ago.
Your phone chimed and it was a message from your step-father. “Hey sweetie, I’m here with Rowan. I’m making him eat something. I’ve got things taken care of at the house as well.”
“Thanks Pops,” you texted back. “Have you seen the baby yet?”
“Not yet. Rowan only said she looked like a beautiful shrunken ham.”
You smiled, relieved Rowan was getting back to his usual senses. “I’m sure she’s gorgeous. I hope she has yours and Rowan’s hair.”
“Sense of humor and hair are usually the only things that survive in the Levy name.”
You heard Ben shuffling around and then the shower turned on.
“Keep me up to date, Pops. Let me know if there is anything we can do.”
“You got that trip to worry about. I’ve got a hold of things here, sweetie.”
That was a relief, but you still felt conflicted on the plans.
Ben came out of the bathroom, towel around his waist and another draped over his head. He looked amazing, you just wish your body was in the right state to do something about it. Ben went into the fridge, taking out a bottle of his fancy cold brewed coffee.
“Heard anything?” He asked.
“Pops is there. He’s gotten Rowan to eat.”
Ben came over, bending down to kiss the top of your head. “Go get a shower. It’ll do you a world of good. I’m going to work on seeing if we can reschedule this trip.”
You stared at him in disbelief. “What?”
He shrugged. “May lose some on it, but I can get plane tickets, rooms, and a few other things switched to next month. I know right now you’d enjoy yourself but you’d be too worried about family. I also know a great bed and breakfast in Georgia we can go to this weekend. Close enough we can come home if we need, but far enough away we can enjoy our seventh month anniversary.”
You were a bit awed. “You’re serious.”
Ben took your hand and kissed it. “Everyone is telling us to go, but what matters is how you feel. This trip won’t be worth anything if you’re not in it.”
You stood and hugged him tight, breathing int he scent of his clean skin and shampooed hair. “You’re wonderful.”
He hugged you even tighter. “Go get a shower. You smell like the hospital.” He kissed you regardless and sent you back into the bathroom.
Driving through Georgia you knew most of the roads since you had gone to school there. Ben was being quite secretive about the cozy bed and breakfast he had promised. He had also checked his bags several times, probably making sure the ring was where he put it.
“I haven’t been here in a while,” he said. “But it’s where I wrote quite a few poems a when I got snowed in.”
“The Requim collection?”
He nodded. “That’s the one.”
“Glib pink house filled with glib pink things?” You tossed out.
“I was twenty and thought I was edgy,” he scoffed. “But yes, this place had a lot of pink to it back then.”
You smirked and looked back ahead at the road. Rain clouds had been threatening all week, and they were growing more ominous the further you went into Georgia.
The bed and breakfast was no longer pink. Instead it was painted green with white trim and a big red door. Ben looked confused for a moment, The Wild Lantern Inn was the same one he visited before, but a lot had been changed. It not took on a more rustic touristy feel than the pink old lady safe haven he remembered.
Inside there was cabin decor that was well known to locals as the sort of thing people from ‘out of town’ went nuts for.
Ben grimmaced at a moose head above the door before setting your luggage aside. “I swear, I wanted to show you the glib pink of this place. I thought you’d get a kick of it.”
Youw atched the moose head, feeling as if it was staring back into your soul. “I don’t know which is worse. That moose or the antique dolls you described in Carnival of Knick-Knacks.”
“Welcome!” A woman came out front he back dressed in a patchwork dress. “You must be the O’Learys.”
“Barter,” Ben perked up.
The woman gasped. “Oh! I’m sorry,” she laughed. “I’ve only got a few reservations this weekend. Thought I was clever and knew who would be who. I’m Lydia Applebaum, and I’ll be taking care of you today.” She turned to her computer, dotted with gnome brick-a-brack.
There was a station at the front with coffee, candy, tea, and large jars of honey for sale. There was also a series of taxidermied squirrels and ducks along the walls, littered with gnomes and bear decor that would be considered folksy or cabin inspired.
“This place used to be so uhm…pink,” Ben said, trying to start a conversation with Lydia Applebaum, or the patchwork lady as you’d remember her.
“Oh yes. That was my sister’s work,” she sniffed. “She wouldn’t know taste if it bit her!” She laughed and pushed back her thick wall of curls.
You and Ben exchanged silent looks before looking away to make sure she didn’t see. “I had no idea the place switched owners,” Ben continued.
“She had some health issues so I took over. Married some albino doctor she met.” She then smiled after clicking away at the computer and handed us a key. “There you go! All set Mr. O’Leary.”
Ben furrowed his brow. “Barter. Ben Barter.”
She sorted and laughed. “Oh right! Right!”
“Thank you, ma’am,” you said as you and Ben gathered you bags to head to your room.
Ben waved the key at you, showing the room number and everything. You went up the stairs to the allotted room and Ben made another face. “I don’t feel like fighting about it,” he huffed. “But I did ask for a view of the woods, not the road. He put the key into the lock. “Man, these locks are cheap. I bet they’d snap with a hard breath.”
You both giggled and went into the room; which was another folksy monstrosity. There was a patchwork blanket and knitted throw over the bed that clashed with the rest of the supposedly country decor.
“I never thought I’d say this, but I miss the pink,” Ben huffed.
“At least there’s no taxidermied animals in here.” You looked around then sighed. “Never mind. Found one.” You pointed to a stuffed duck hanging in the corner.
“Slightly better than dolls, at leats there’s only one of that.” Ben grumbled and scraped at his scalp. “This isn’t the romantic escape I was hoping for. This feels like I’m visiting my grandparents.”
You smiled at him. He was nervous and it was plain to see. Yes, the Wild Lantern wasn’t exactly the romantic, sexy trip you had been planning for this weekend and the following week, but he had done this to ease your mind over your brother.
“If we keep the lights off we can pretend none of this exists.” You walked up to him, removing his hands from his hair. “We can make do with it for this weekend.”
“Maybe,” he grunted.
You stood on your tipetoes to kiss him. “Hey, why not bring out your big bad wolf for me?” You said with a smirk.
“What? In front fo the duck?”
You giggled and shook your head. “Stop that!”
He kissed you back. “I was thinking I could place an order for some food. Go get it then we can relax in front of that fireplace. It’ll probably start raining soon.”
“A fireplace in June? You are bold.” You nodded. “Okay, food does sound really good right about now.”
After calling in an order to a local Mexican restaurant, you made yourself at home as best you could. You unpacked a few things, noticing Ben had hid his one bag under the bed. As you were trying to figure out the fireplace, you heard some shouting from downstairs.
You listened for a moment, hoping no one was giving the patchwork lady any trouble. Then there was a pounding, a thundering of feet up the stairs. You held your breath and waited until the banging was on the door.
“Get out of there!” A man roared, echoed by an equally loud woman.
“This is our room!” The woman continued. “You have no rights to it!”
You were afraid to approach the door, but you slowly crept towards it. “I’m sorry, but this was the room that-”
“Shut the fuck up! We know what you’re doing in there!”
What the hell were they talking about? You were too anxious to open the door, not without Ben there. “It was a simple mistake. Just let me clean up and get my things packed and we can-”
“I told you both is was an accident!” Patchwork lady fussed. “Calm on down and come have some tea and local honey!” She was trying to remain calm and congenial, but there was an edge to her voice. It sounded like she had dealt with these people before.
“That room is ours! You would know better if you didn’t have your head up your ass all the time, Applebaum!”
The door shuddered and hit against the frame as someone tried to open it. “Let us into our room now! We don’t give a shit about your things since you don’t give a shit about ours!”
It was bad enough your brother and his family were stuck in the hospital. It was awful your niece had to spend her first moments in the nicu. It was terrible you had to cancel your vacation and Ben had to change all his plans for his proposal. The bed and breakfast wasn’t as he remembered, but still you were trying to make it fun and enjoyable.
Now this? Rude entitled patrons?
The lock on the door must have broken because the door opened without much force. The man standing there, probably the Mr. O’Leary the patchwork lady kept mistaking Ben for. He came into the room, shouting, throwing things and yelling at you. He was so concerned with how far he had traveled, how uncomfortable his wife was, how you ruined everything, how you weren't going to make them miserable anymore. You were trying to avoid him until you saw him reach for the bag under the bed. You reached out without thinking, grabbing Mr. O’Leary to stop him.
You didn’t realize what happened until the room went still. Everything was quiet and the patchwork lady gasped. “I’m calling the police!”
Your face stung and your tongue was bleeding, or was it your lip? You touched your face and Mr. O’Leary jerked away, going quiet and rushing towards the door.
“What the fuck did you do?” His wife hissed under her breath.
It was catching up to you, but the shock was holding everything back. You stood up, looking towards the door. The O’Learys were gone, but in the second you blinked you saw Ben standing there. Thunder rumbled and the sound of rain sizzled outside.
His body was tense and his hand gripped hard onto the door. He rushed in, taking you into his arms. His eyes were dark and fiery. The stiffness of his arm and chest gave away his anger.
“Are you alright?”
You swallowed, tasing blood and held onto him tighter.
“C’mon. Let's find a hotel for the night. We’ll go home tomorrow.” He did the packing while the patchwork woman tended to you downstairs. She was kind and extremely apologetic, offering to help you get the hotel room and everything.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Ben asked again in the car.
The shock was wearing off, and it was coming. The tears came first, then the sobbing, then the shaking. “I’m fine,” you whimpered.
Ben stopped the car, pulling into a parking lot to hold you, leaning over the center console in a way you knew was uncomfortable.
“It’s not that,” you blubbered. “It’s…it’s-” You hiccuped.
“Everything I know.” Ben held you tightly, burying his face into his hair. “But if I ever catch those people I would…I-”
You noticed hair growing on his neck and his arms were straining against his shirt. “Calm down, you’ll shift here. Ben,” you rubbed his back, trying to soothe the savage beast so to speak.
“I know. I know,” he huffed. “But just thinking about it…about you-'' There was a rip as the back of his shirt busted open.
You let out a soft giggle and Ben sighed, relaxing in your arms. “Sorry.” He pulled back and cupped your tender cheek. “Let's get the hotel. You probably want nothing more than to eat and forget this whole day.”
The storm was pouring outside as you got in. Ben checked you in and got you into the room with the food while he went to go get the bags.
You sat down upon the bed, holding the half cold Mexican takeout in your lap. Looking towards the window, all you saw was the rain pelting heavily down. Poor Ben would be soaked by the time he got back, so you brought out some towels and a robe for him.
There was a scream from outside and some rumbling, but you figured it could have easily been the storm. Ben still hadn’t come back, so you grew worried. As you were reaching for the door there was a knock.
“Hurry, let me in, it’s me!”
You opened the door as ben rushed in, fully in his werewolf form. He closed the door, locking it fast then plopped down in the center of room.
You stood over him with a knowing stare upon your face. “Ben?”
“They were pulling up as I was heading out,” he snarled. “All I did was toss their car. I didn’t hurt them, no matter how I-” He gnashed his teeth and the fur on the back of his neck stood on end.
You grabbed one of the on hand towels and rubbed it to his fur. “Did anyone see you.”
He shook his head, shrugged, then shook his head. “I think everyone was distracted by the toppled car.”
You knelt down beside him, smoothing the towel around his chest. You looked into his eyes and he turned away in guilt.
“I’m not mad,” you spoke quietly. You placed yourself into his lap and cuddled there, even if his fur was damp.
Ben sighed, leaning himself into you, wrapping his big, strong arms around you. “I’m so sorry. This weekend was supposed to be special, and instead, it's been one thing after the other. I wanted to make a memory with you, something we could look back on, tell stories about it to our-” He sighed and rested his head against you. “I suppose I was a bit selfish.” He stood with you in his arms, carrying you to the bed where you both laid down.
Inevitably, sleep came. You woke sometime during the night, perhaps the storm had woken you, perhaps it was the fact you still had on your jeans. You got out of bed to strip, unaware you were being watched.
As you were removing your shirt, you felt a warm, gentle hand upon your back. You closed your eyes, sighing softly as Ben’s large hand covered your exposed skin. “That feels so nice.”
“Then come here, let me do more.” Ben pulled you back into bed, kissing you softly as he dragged his hands down your body. His fur had dried and was now soft to the touch. You reached for him, holding onto his arms and shoulders.
“I suppose you figured it out,” he murmured. “What all this is for. Why I’ve tried so hard.”
“I have,” you sighed dreamily. “But it’s not your fault. It was Rowan’s.”
Ben chuckled, kissing your stomach and hips. “I should’ve known. I thought he was too good to be true.” His fingers slipped under the elastic of your panties and he glanced up at you. His eyes glowed slightly in the dark.
You smiled at him, running your hands through his fur. You scratched along his skin, feeling him shiver ever so slightly. “Are you gonna ask me now?”
Ben raised up slightly. “Well, I do have something I want to ask you.” He looked down upon you, his eyes glinting fiendishly. “Do you want me to fuck you until I can get to the car in the morning?”
You sputtered, letting out a laugh that you tried to quiet with your hand.
Ben growled low in his throat, taking his hands and dragging them down your body. “I’m not asking you anything else until I can get the bags out of the car.” He tugged at your panties again, pulling them down around your thighs.
You held your breath, whimpering slightly as he tugged again.
“You don’t have to do anything,” he growled. “I just want to fuck you until this whole horror of a weekend melts away. I want to make you cum again and again and-”
“I don’t think that’s possible,” you tried to laugh.
He yanked your panties away and opened up your thighs. “You like the idea though, don’t you?” He cupped your mind, pressing until his thumb pushed in between and found your clit. You flinched at first, but melted as soon as you felt the warmth of his hands melt into you.
“That’s it. Good girl,” he chuckled. “Just relax. I’m going to take care of you. Yes. That’s it.” He pushed up your bra, kneeling down to kiss and lap at your breast. His tongue tongue swirled around your nipple, before those sharp teeth gently grazed upon it. You whimpered and melted further, feeling dizzy by the time he pulled away.
He licked his sopping fingers, grinning maniacally down upon you. “You got quite wet, didn’t you? Is it working?” He pushed deeper between your legs, resting his cock upon you. It was throbbing and hot, exactly what you wanted.
“You know I love you,” you whispered. “I have for as long as I could remember. I was just a bit too stupid to realize it.” He took hold of his knot, guiding his cock to rub against you. “I could only dream of moments like this.” It felt like his tip would slide in, but then it didn’t.
Ben huffed and laid his head back. “Don’t worry, this little bit is for me. I’ll be taking care of you in no time.” he leaned over you more. “I bet you could take the whole knot tonight too.”
You shivered and he caught that look upon your face.
“I knew it,” he chuckled. “Oh fuck-” He kissed you eagerly, licking your lips before he slipped inside. You moaned against him, clutching onto his chest as that sudden fullness elated you. It warmed you to your core, exciting you.
“That’s not all love,” he chuckled. “Far from.” he rose back up, placing his hand around your throat, gentle but applying pressure.
You realized the anger and adrenaline he must have felt was partly responsible for this. Even in his werewolf form he had shown limits to his stamina. But tonight, much like the rain, he showed no signs of stopping. When he wasn’t inside you, he had his mouth upon you, his tongue splurging and licking, his fingers going where it couldn’t reach. He made you were well taken care of, even you felt there was nothing left to take care of.
His knot fit snugly inside you, stretching you, reminding you of just how overflowing your body could bed. You whimpered into the pillows as Ben gripped onto your hips.
“Just admiring,” he moaned, pulling back a cheek to spy the work of art he made. He grinned to himself, licking his chops. “I’m not going to last much longer from here. But-” He pulsed once and you shook all over. You were sensitive as it was, but the knot buried inside you made you feel like any movement at all would be your last. You had tumbled off the edge several time that night.
“I know, I know,” he moaned. “You fucking love my knot.” He ground into you, snarling under his breath like a wild animal. “I love being inside you. I love being one with you.” He glanced to the window to see the sun peeking through the curtains. “Almost,” he moaned. “So close.” He pulsed again and you cried out into the pillows.
Ben was silent, shuddering. He ground his teeth and shuddered, moaning shakily. Another pulse, another and another in rapid succession. Heat. Pure liquid heat.
Ben collapsed on top of you, trembling inside you, making you quiver along with him. There were voices outside, a hysterical woman. Ben chuckled and you patted his cheek.
“I should…I should go get our bags,” he grumbled weakly.
“Not now,” you muttered.
“I have to.” He managed to pull out from inside you. He flopped over again, panting hard. Another spurt came from his tip.
“Too much,” you moaned.
Ben chuckled. “I had a lot in me last night.” He rolled over, gazing into your sleepy eyes. “We’ll go home today,” he murmured. “I have an idea.”
You smiled. “For what?”
He kissed you lovingly, wrapping you up in his arms again.
A shower and hearty breakfast later you drove back to Hearthway Hollow. He drove past your place though, going into town and stopping in front of the library.
“What are we doing here?” You asked.
He was inside the trunk, searching through the bags. “You’ll see.” He took your hand and lead you inside. The place was practically empty, and the aisle he took you down was as silent and still as the books themselves. He stood before the poetry section and your heart leapt up into your throat.
“Maybe this is corny. Maybe this is over done but-” He took a deep breath. “If we can’t do this the way I wanted, surrounded by stars, a full moon, and the ocean, then this might be the best place. Poetry is how we competed before, it made me realize how much I adored you.” He took the little ring box out of his pocket. “And I know you didn’t want this public. But this is what feels right. Doesn't it?” The ring box was shaped like a small book and you stopped him before he opened it.
“It’s perfect.” You cupped your hands around his. “Go on.” You released him, allowing him to open the ring box. Inside was the simple silver ring you had picked out, a single pearl with a diamond cluster around it, and small pink diamonds upon the band.
Ben took your hand. “What do you say?”
You broke into a huge smile, trying not to cry, but failing. “I guess if I have to.”
Ben laughed while you giggled. He slipped the ring onto your finger. “Your brother has rubbed off on you too much.” He kissed you, holding you tight as you cupped the back of his head.
You then received a text. “It could be Pops!” You gasped. You reached for your phone, seeing it was Rowan.
“Aviva,” was all it said.
You furrowed your brow. Rowan only called you that when he was taunting you. Why would he say that now? You were about to type when a picture of your baby niece came through.
“Congrats on your engagement. I gave her your middle name to celebrate. Both for you and the fact we get to take her home. She’s a strong one! Just like her aunt.”
You were already crying, but this made you sob harder.
“Come on, lets go and meet her.” Ben said softly.
