The broom keeps going back and forth in the same spot as your eyes go unfocused. You stare out the window, looking at the storage shed at the edge of the property. The broom keeps going back and forth, back and forth.
“In order for that to work you actually have to, you know, move the broom!” Your mother scoffs.
You jump and turn to look at her as she smirks at you. “Oh yeah,” you nod. “I know.” You turn your back from the window.
“What’s up with you today?” She asks. “You’ve been out of your own head since breakfast.”
You press your lips into a tight line as you sweep up. “I didn’t sleep too well,” you reply. “Just sort of…” you trail off as you glance back out the window.
Your mother pushes your hair aside and touches your forehead. “You don’t have a temperature.”
You sidestep her. “I’m ok! Really,” you chuckle. You move around her as you pick up the dustpan. “I’ll go dump this outside and go get some water.” You tell her.
You go out through the kitchen, dumping the dustpan outside the door. You look at the shed, hesitating a moment. You stoop to pick up one of the water buckets, and then you walk out towards the well.
The well is next to the shed, so after you get water, you take the full bucket and go to it. You step inside the dark, dusty place and look around.
“Are you still here?” You whisper.
You hear a creaking and a groan. Stepping around a shelf of preserves, you see the creature sitting there, its wings wrapped around itself like a bubble.
In the darkness of the shed, it’s feathers look like dark chocolate in color. You step towards it and offer the water bucket out.
“It’s ok,” you whisper. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
The wings part and the creature peers out from the feathers. Your guts churn, feeling strange under its glowing gaze. The eyes burn like fire and smoldering embers. It lunges forward, hissing at you knocking over the water.
You reel back, falling onto your rear. You gasp, staring at it, watching it’s strange arm tuck back under the shell of its wings. The arrow is still firmly lodged in its chest and you know that’s what is causing the poor thing the most distress.
You had found it the other day, you had been watching your younger siblings while they played in the woods. They had built a little fort out of things they had found, and suddenly, they came running screaming towards you. You sent them home and went to inspect what had caused them such panic.
In their fort, there was what looked like an animal inside. It was crying and moaning. You saw what looked like black and blue ink everywhere. But when you touched it, it burnt your skin and left a shimmery residue there.
The creature was unlike anything you had ever seen before. It had massive wings that looked gold when the sunlight hit them. Its features were strange, unlike any sort of creature you had ever seen before. The limbs were long, with big hands and birdlike legs and feet. The face was covered by some sort of strange headdress, but the eyes glowed from beneath it.
Somehow, you managed to get the injured creature to the shed where it would be safe from the elements, and maybe it would let you help it. You’re not sure why you felt the need to protect it, you just did.
Now, it stays huddled in the corner of the shed, dipping down to lick the water from the ground.
You pick up the bucket and clutch it to your chest as you watch it. “I just want to help you,” you murmur. You take from your pocket the fruit you had taken from the kitchen. You lay out the apples and berries down before the creature.
“Are you hungry?” You ask, offering up a small handful of berries.
The creature sniffs and snorts around your palm and then a long, black tongue licks at your skin. It goes up your wrist and arm, stopping at the crook of your elbow. It inches closer, and the tongue presses a berry, making it pop in your palm.
As it does this, you go in closer, reaching between its wings and clutching the arrow. The creature jerks, hissing in your face and making a horrible, unearthly sound.
You look up at it, terrified by unable to move. “Please,” you beg it. “You’ll feel better, I promise.”
The creatures snarls, growling in its throat like an angry cat. It stays still, eyes locked with yours. You pull the arrow out, and the creature pushes you away. You huddle back and wraps its wings around itself. You whisper as if speaking with several voices.
You look at the arrow, seeing the blood is evaporating away like smoke. It curls and rises up, vanishing in a shimmery mist.
The creature turns, glancing back at you. It makes a low burbling sound and reaches out. It’s long fingers brush against your cheek and through your hair. It then recoils and stares at you as it recedes back into the safety of its wings.
You take a shuddering breath and then hear your mother calling you from outside. You turn to the creature as you stand up. “I’ll be back,” you whisper to it.
You leave, getting another bucket of water and heading back to the house.
“Now what took you so long?” Your mother asks.
“Sorry,” you chuckle nervously. “I dropped the first bucket, and it rolled away. I had to go chasing it.”
Your mother arches her brow as she looks at you. “Hmm, well, ok.” She leads you back into the house. “I’ve got some food ready. I want you to get an extra helping today, you just don’t seem quite right.”
That evening, after putting your siblings to bed, you snuck out into the dark. You’re only in your nightgown, so the cold air easily nips at your skin. You reach the shed, stepping inside. You find the creature is standing and gazing out the window towards the woods.
It’s massive. No longer hunched over and afraid, it’s stance is regal and proud. Its wings curl around their still, creating a shield between their body and the world. It turns slowly and looks at you. The eyes are burning brighter now and almost hurt to look at.
“I brought you some food,” you say. You hold out to it some bread and cheese. “If you’re hungry.”
They reach out, touching your arm rather than the hand offering food. The strange bulbous fingertips stroke down your skin and to your shoulder, stopping where the fabric of your nightgown is. They then touch your neck, and they wrap their palm around your throat.
You gasp in fear and step back.
The creature makes a strange, surprised sound and pulls their hand away.
You look back at them. “I can just, leave it here.” You set the food down on a shelf and take a step back to the door. “I just hope you’re feeling better.”
The creature gasps and stretches their hand out again. You hesitate and glance at them. You hold your hand out, and they take it.
For a moment, you hear a voice whispering in your mind. You feel calm, but dread lingers around you. You’re a little angry, and then tears start to drip down your cheeks.
You heave and look up at the creature as they pull away.
“Oh,” you whisper. You place your palm over your chest. “It’s…it’s ok to be scared. You’re hurt. You’re somewhere strange.”
The creature wipes your tears away from your cheek, and you hear the voice trying to whisper in your ear again.
“I’ll be back in the morning,” you reassure them. “Give it one more day. Alright?”
The creature growls and takes away its hand.
You leave the shed, grasping your chest. It was all so strange, but somehow, when they touched you, you were able to understand them.
You head back home, sneaking inside and going to bed.
As you fall asleep, there is a presence around you. You toss and turn as something tickles down your skin. You moan and open your eyes, gazing up at a canopy of stars and light. You gasp softly and pet your hand down your chest. You’re naked, but you don’t feel ashamed about it.
You touch your breasts, realizing your nipples are hard. Your fingers stroke down your belly and you touch your mound.
“It’s ok,” the voice whispers.
“Who is there?” You moan.
Hands grasp your shoulders, and you look up, seeing your head is resting in the lap of the creature. Their eyes burn through the shroud covering their head, twinkling like the stars all around you.
“Do not be ashamed of your own pleasure.” They stretch out their long arm, grasping your hand and guiding it.
You whimper softly as your fingers dip into your wetness.
The creature’s fingers guide you, but you move your hand away, allowing them to touch you alone. You shiver and moan, touching your chest as their fingers slip inside you.
“There is no shame in pleasure,” they say. Their voice is like rain and fog, endless and beautiful but unnerving.
You gasp and arch your back as their fingers move inside you. “Why does it feel so good when you do it?” You moan.
The creature chuckles. “Because you want it.”
You look up at them, able to see a bit under the shroud. Their mouth is slit back and jagged, behind it there are sharp, glittering teeth that look like crystals.
“I want a kiss,” you whisper.
The creature tilts its head down, and you rise up. Their fingers slip away from you and their hand cups around your eyes. They press a kiss to your lips, and you shudder, pressing closer to them. Their hand pets your thigh and grazes your rear before their fingers ease back into you.
You straddle their thigh, moaning to their chest. You feel a white-hot surge growing inside you, and when you wake up, you’re upset you didn’t find out what it was. You sit up in bed, breathing hard and your thighs are sticky.
You reach down, touching yourself. It doesn’t feel anywhere as good as when they touched you. You look out the window, seeing the shed below.
You clean yourself up and go downstairs.
“Well, well,” your mother chuckles. “Look who is up early. Did you sleep well at last?” She asks, kneading the dough for biscuits.
You nod sheepishly, still feeling that ignored ache between your legs. “I had a remarkable dream,” you tell her.
“That’s wonderful.” She wipes her brow. “Could I ask you a favor?”
You nod. “Of course.”
“Do you mind going and getting me some water from the well?” She asks. “I haven’t had a chance.”
Excitement bubbles up inside you, and you reach for the bucket by the door. “Of course,” you say as you leave.
You stop at the shed, going inside and seeing the creature perched by the window. They look at you and stretch their hand out.
You take it and lean into their embrace.
“Was it real?” You whisper.
They press to your ear, whispering something faint and quiet.
“I want a kiss too,” you say. You close your eyes and then press their palm over them. Their lips press to you, and their long tongue slithers along your lips until you open your mouth. You moan as their tongue slips down your throat.
They pull back, tapping your cheek and whispering again.
“Yes, my mother is waiting,” you answer. “Tonight,” you tell them. “Promise?”
They nod, and you leave to fetch the water your mother asked for.
That evening you sneak back out to the shed, taking a blanket with you. Once inside the creature grabs you, kissing you hungrily while their palm covers your eyes.
You press your palms to their chest. The ache that had been with you that morning had built into an unbearable pain. You needed them.
You grasp their hand. “Come,” you motion to the door.
The creature hesitates, grasping your hand to make you still.
You turn and look up at them. “Isn’t this what you want? I thought you wanted to leave and-” the creature places it’s finger over your lips.
They move in close, touching your face.
You hold their hand and smile. “You can see me whenever you want,” you whisper. “Your happiness matters.”
The creature then nods, and you take them outside. You lead them through the woods and back to where you found them in your sibling’s fort. They kneel down with you, slipping into the fort. You lay out the blanket and then open your arms to them.
The creature lays their head on your chest, pressing close to hear the beat of your heart. You stroke their head and down the back of their neck.
“Who are you?” You whisper.
They cover your eyes and kiss you, laying you down on the blanket. The cold air hits your skin, and when you’re able to open your eyes, you’re on the plain of stars and light again. You look down, the creature is kissing along your body, but the shroud covers it.
“I have ached to touch,” they sigh. “But it is forbidden to me.”
“Why is it forbidden?” You ask.
“Mortals,” they respond, “they are not like us.” They lift their head, and their eyes are burning through the shroud. “We are not allowed to be together.”
“Are you scared?” You ask with a timid voice.
“No,” they shake their head. “Not with you.” They nuzzle to your belly.
You smile and lay back, opening your thighs more. “I want you.”
“I need you,” they growl. “I have not felt this desire in so long.” Their hands grasp your thighs as they lift up. “Touching you last night reminded me of the fire I once held.”
You mewl softly as their fingers stroke you.
“Who are you?” You ask again.
Something presses at your folds and the radiant heat from it courses through your body. “I am Adriel,” they whisper.
You whimper as they enter you, their heat filling you and you cry out at the sensation.
“I am your first,” they whisper. “I will not waste the honor.” The drag their fingertips on your lips. “Forgive me if I cannot hold back.”
Adriel starts to move, and their warmth rushes through your body. You gasp and shiver, gripping around their shaft inside you. It feels deep and fulfilling, even more so than their fingers. Their voice echoes all around you, gasping and snarling.
You look up, seeing their wings spread out. You are not sure if it is a trick of the light or if you’re going crazy, but the wings seem numerous. The wings are endless. You reach out, touching Adriel to make sure they were still real. Their skin is glowing from within, the dark ocre of it shimmers and warms your touch. Another hand reaches down and a finger presses to your tongue. Another hand strokes your chest, and a third rubs against your clit.
There are so many hands on your body, it’s almost overwhelming. You arch your back, pressing closer to Adriel’s many palms. You can feel the white hot ball inside and your body jerks and twitches. You squeeze tightly around Adriel, and a strange, horrifying sound leaves their lips.
The stars around you move and blast outwards, the lights swirl and shimmer and flicker. There is a cold breeze around you, stinging your bare skin.
You look up at Adriel, their neck is bowed back as he stares up into the endless void. You reach down, feeling them inside you. They pull out, and you whimper as their pearly cum starts to spill. You try to hold it inside, unsure why it’s so important.
“My love,” Adriel croaks as they touch your lips. “I will return for you.”
You wake up in bed, naked and shivering. Your sex feels sore and tender from Adriel’s affections. You look around your room, feeling out of place there. You don’t belong. As you get up, you see shimmering from the floor. You bend over, picking up a golden feather from the ground. You kiss it and smile to yourself.
As the days pass, you start to wonder if Adriel was just a dream. It all felt so surreal and distant like it happened a millennium ago. They only thing you have that makes you believe they were real was the feather they left behind, and the desire you felt every night for them.
Years pass and still, Adriel does not appear to you. You have grown, and your family is urging you to wed, but you have no heart for anyone. You belong to Adriel. One evening, as you sit alone, you see a shooting star streak across the sky. You sigh, feeling heavy hearted. A few tears slip down your cheek.
A whisper echoes in your ear and fingers brush against your cheek.
Look up, you see Adirel standing beside you. The world is stars and light again, just like you’ve always dreamed.
You whimper and cry. “Where were you?”
Adriel puts their finger over your lips. “Will you come with me?” He asks.
You take hold of their hand. “But where will we go?” You ask. “What will we do?”
“I promise, you’ll be safe, and you’ll be loved.” They cover your eyes and kisses you. You grab hold of him, knowing that you would go to any lengths to finally be with Adriel.
