You’re sitting at your desk, showing off your engagement ring to your coworkers who have surrounded you. You hold your hand out, and they grab at it. You feel like road kill, and they are the vultures.
“Everyone is getting married these days,” one of your coworkers sigh.
“First Ellis, then Dan, now even Cynric is getting married!”
You clutch your hand to your chest and look at the engagement ring again. You smile at it, but you feel guilty that you feel nothing.
“How does it feel?” You glance up and look at all their faces. They look more excited than you felt when he proposed. You force a smile as you think about the moment he got on his knee. You were shocked, but you didn’t get that overwhelming feeling of joy you expected. You said yes, but there were no fireworks. It was just a moment.
“I’m still kind of in shock.” You lie to yourself as well as them. Once they disperse to go back to work, you finally remove the smile and sigh. You glance at your hand, wanting to take the ring and hide it.
“Finally,” you gasp and look up, seeing Culann one of your coworkers who you’re often partnered with for projects. You’ve worked with him for a couple of years now. He’s a satyr, but he’s surprisingly tall. He has deep olive skin and long dark hair he keeps back in a braid. He has bigger antlers that come out in points like a deer’s.
He smiles down at you, taking the extra seat at your desk. “I was waiting for the vultures to leave.”
You snort and cover your mouth with your hand. “That’s what I had been thinking!” You enjoy being around Cullan very much. Ever since you started working with him, you liked coming into work more. You got excited when you were both placed on a project. It was nice having someone you worked with that you looked forward to seeing.
“So…” he starts off unsurely. “Engaged, wow. That is-” he seems to strain to find words. “That’s really great. I’m happy for you.”
“Oh, yeah,” you force a smile again. “Thank you.”
For a moment, there is an awkward silence between the two of you. You fidget and fiddle with your papers and folders.
“Uhm, so here,” he hands you a flyer. “This is something that Cynric told me was going to be coming up in the future so we may want to go ahead and get a start on it now.”
You look over the instructions on the page and frown. “This seems like a big deal. Why would he just give it to us?”
“He’s getting married, plus we work our asses off.” He motions over his shoulder. “Wanna go to the conference room and order pizza?”
You smile and stand up. “Lead the way.”
Around lunch, when the two of you set aside your work to eat, Cullan looks at you. “So, what are your plans for this weekend?”
Your stomach drops slightly. “Wedding stuff,” you grumble. “My mom and sisters have already set me up with a dress fitting.”
“Already?” Cullan furrows his brow. “You just got engaged.”
You shrug. “I’m the eldest and the only one not married so,” you set down your slice of pizza, suddenly not hungry.
Cullan reaches out and touches your hand. “Are you ok?”
You look at his hand touching yours, and then you see the ring. You know you should be happy, so you smile again. “I’m fine! Still just in shock.” You think to yourself how nice it will be when you don’t have to force this anymore.
That evening you walk to your car with Cullan. You’re both silent; usually it takes an army to get you two to stop talking. But right now, you can’t seem to find anything to say to one another. It was strange.
“I’ll see you later,” you smile up at him as you open your car door.
“Uh, yeah.” It looks like he snapped from a profound thought.
“Is something the matter?” You ask him.
He opens his mouth then closes it. “No,” he shakes his head and smiles. “Have fun this weekend. Don’t try on too many dresses.”
“I hope not,” you scoff. “Bye.” You wave as he turns and leaves… For some reason, you miss him.
That night you have a dream. You’re sitting by a river, you’re naked, and you’re dipping your feet into the water that’s so cold your feet hurt. You look up, seeing Cullan standing on the other side of the river. He’s naked too. His deep olive skin shimmering in the dusky light. His long braid is undone, and his dark hair is flowing behind him.
You always thought Cullan was handsome, but right now, he looked beautiful and wild. His long legs are covered in black fur. His face is flat with round, black eyes and he has shapely lips under his padded nose. Unlike most satyrs, he doesn’t have hooves. Instead, he has large rabbit-like feet with claws. He told you at one time he was of the Cernunnos clan, but you can’t remember.
He reaches out to you, his long arm stretching over the river. You take a step towards him, each step you take your feet start to hurt less, and the river doesn’t seem so cold. You run to him, flinging yourself into his strong arms. He kisses you, and you cling to him. Your toes curl with his kiss, and when he pulls back to gaze into your face, you wake up.
You gasp and groan, rolling over to see the clock glowing three fifteen. You grunt, rubbing your eyes and reaching for your glass of water. You can still feel Cullan’s kiss on your lips. You sigh and shake your head.
You don’t go back to sleep after that. Instead, you stay up, replaying the dream over and over in your head. You hate how happy it makes you feel, how excited. You feel better about a dream than your own engagement. That ain’t right.
The next day, your sisters and mother pick you up, taking you across town to the wedding shop where they have a fitting lined up for you. You’re smashed into dresses and strutted around while your sister and mother critique you. You feel uncomfortable the entire time and when you’re finally released from their clutches, going home is a massive relief.
You find your cell phone on the counter as you walk in. You didn’t realize you had left it behind. You see you have a few missed phone calls, one of them is from Cullan. You hurriedly check the message he’s left you.
“Hi uhm…it’s uhm…it’s me,” his voice sounds shaky. “Sorry I missed you. Sorry if this is out of the blue. I just…I can’t-” he grunts and sighs in frustration. “I realize I’m too late. I never got the chance to tell you everything. I thought for sure it would never go this far but, fuck, like always I’m wrong. I’m sorry I was weird yesterday. I wasn’t happy. Seeing you with that ring…you know what? Never mind. I’ll just…” he sighs, and the message ends.
You instantly call him back. It rings several times before he answers. “He-hello?”
“What were you going to say?” You gasp.
“Oh,” he hesitates. “You heard that?”
“Tell me,” you insist. “Please, Cullan, tell me what you were going to say!”
He’s silent, and you hear him moving about. “It’s too late. I fucked up.”
“No,” you shake your head. “Cullan I-” you hold your breath and try to keep the tears at bay.
“Can I see you?” He asks. “I would rather this be in person that over the phone. Are you still out dress shopping?”
You shake your head then laugh at yourself. “No. No. I’m at home. You can come by.”
“Ok then. Uhm…I’ll be there soon.” He hangs up, and you set your phone aside. You wait for him on pins and needles, anxiously pacing around your apartment until he buzzes at the door. You let him in then wait for him to knock.
As soon as he knocks you fling the door open and gaze up at him. He looks down at you, and his expression looks pained.
“Come in,” you lead him inside, and he stands there before the door. He looks down at his hands and keeps averting his gaze from you.
“This is bad,” he whispers.
You shake your head. “You haven’t said anything. You can’t claim it’s bad when I don’t know what’s going on.”
He looks up at you, and he smiles softly. “It’s bad for me.”
“Tell me why,” you whisper.
He looks down again. “My heart is breaking,” he murmurs. He lifts his hand and places it over his chest. “Ever since I saw that damn ring.”
You close your fist and tuck it behind your leg.
“I never thought you’d walk in engaged. I always thought that it would end before that ever happened.” He looks up at you again. “I was hoping you’d see he didn’t fit.”
“Cullan I-”
“Please,” he whispers. “Let me finish.” He swallows and takes a deep breath. “I wanted to let go of my feelings but I never could. Working with you was the best thing that ever happened to me, but it also was the worst. You’re my friend, and I fell in love with you.”
Your lip trembles and you take a small step towards him. “You do?”
“I’m sorry,” he whispers.
“I’m not happy,” you confess. “I only said yes because I felt I had to. I don’t feel anything for this.” You take the wedding ring off and set it aside.
Cullan sighs, “You’re just scared.”
“No,” you shake your head. “I realized today that nothing felt right. The only time I felt anything special was when I was with you.” You take hold of his hand and grip it tight. “I love you too, Cullan.”
He pulls you into a tight embrace then kisses the top of your head. You talk for a long time after that, agreeing nothing will happen until you end the engagement. You break things off the next day with your fiance. He’s angry and throws the door in your face. You can’t blame him, he actually wanted it.
You go home to the barrage of texts and phone calls from friends and family. You ignore most of them, sending one message you felt mattered.
“It’ll be ok,” Cullan replies. “They’ll get over it eventually.”
“I feel like a bad person,” you admit.
“You’re not bad for going with your gut. You knew it was wrong.”
“Can I see you?”
“Yeah, I’ll be over in a second.”
“No, I’ll come over to your place.” You get up and clean yourself up, wiping away your tears and melted makeup. You pack a few things into a bag and head over to Cullan’s house.
He lives near the edge of town, close to the woods in an old house that you assumed was haunted. He’s waiting for you, opening the door as soon as the cab pulls up. You lock eyes and are silent. He leads you inside and closes the door.
Inside it is neat and clean, looking more rustic than haunted. You set your bag down, and he comes up to you. “Is it ok?” he whispers.
You nod and tilt your chin up. He kisses you and your toes curl. You kiss back, and his hands wrap around your waist. Your wrap your arms around his neck as the kisses grow deeper and harder.
He wrenches back, gasping slightly. He licks his lips and looks into your eyes. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long.”
You chuckle and nod. “Me too.” You touch his cheek, brushing his hair out of his face. He dips down again, kissing you. His lips trail along your jaw and down your neck. You moan softly as his hands tug up your shirt so he can kiss your chest and over your bra. He kneels down before you, and you have to press your back against the wall. He kisses your soft belly and your muffin-top sides. He tugs down your jeans and kisses over your panties.
“Cullan,” you tremble and take hold of his horns.
He nuzzles to your soft thighs, kissing and nibbling them. He tugs at your panties and pulls them down. He opens your thighs, and he kisses your mound, nuzzling close and his tongue laps at you.
You whimper. “Wait…please.”
He looks up at you, kissing your thighs and then your belly. He nuzzles between your breasts as his long fingers rub at your slit. He kisses your neck, biting gently as his fingers open you and find your molten core.
“You’re shaking,” he whispers.
You swallow your heart back and nod. “I was afraid I’d fall on you.”
He chuckles. “I wanted you too.”
You squeak and grip onto him. He carries you to the sofa and kicks away the coffee table. He pulls your ass to the edge of the seat and kneels down between your legs, so they’re thrown over his shoulders. He kisses your thighs again, trailing up to your dripping slit.
“You’re so wet already,” he marvels.
“Sorry,” you whimper. “I was told I get sloppy.”
He scoffs. “Who said that like it’s a bad thing?” He licks you up, and you bite your lip. Your fiance, well ex-fiance now, had gone down on you, but he never took his time. He had been the one to say you got too sloppy so oral was never fun for him.
Cullan’s tongue is long and skilled. It swirls around your clit and your open lips. It slithers inside for a moment then is replaced by his fingers. “I like how wet you are.”
You whimper as he kisses your clit, sucking it then licking. He repeats this pattern as his fingers slowly pick up speed inside you. You grasp onto his horns again, writhing at his touch. Your back arches and you cry out as his fingers curl inside you. You gush on his knuckles, your cream dripping down his wrist and chin.
He chuckles, rising up and licking his lips. “I didn’t know you could do that.”
“I’m so sorry,” you mumble. “It just felt so good I-” he kisses you, hungry and desperate. You cling to him, holding his shoulders as he presses close you.
He pulls back, grinning before he whispers into your ear. “Can you do that on my cock?”
You gasp and giggle, smirking up at him. “Depends.”
He stands back, kicking away his pants. You see his cock, rising up thick and heavy from a bed of dark fur. It curves to the side and is so heavy is bobs low. You bite your lip in excitement.
“I think that’ll work,” he holds your arms open for him, and he tackles you. He kisses you as he pushes your down into the cushions of the couch. He climbs on top of you and rubs himself at your slippery cunt.
He groans and whispers in your ear. His voice feels you with excitement, and you cling to him. “Please,” you gasp. “Give it to me.”
“You sure,” he strokes your cheek. “Any hesitation and I’ll stop now.”
Things still for a moment and you smile at him. “None at all,” you kiss him softly. “I want you.”
He kisses you, pressing himself inside. You gasp, clenching tight around him as his thick cock spreads you open.
“Oh fuck that feels so good,” he growls. He presses his hands on either side of you and his lifts himself above you. His smile is a little nervous as he looks down at you.
“What?” You pant as you pet down his furry chest.
He chews his bottom lip. “I…I’m afraid I’ll cum too soon.”
You giggle. “It’s ok. Did you think we’d only do it once today?”
He laughs and kisses you. He starts to move slowly at first, kissing you and touching you. He nuzzles between your breasts, and his hips begin to move faster. You dig your fingers into his back and sigh. He feels fantastic inside you, stretching you just right and hitting all the sweet spots.
He huffs and grunts and you can see the restraint on his face. He’s trying to hold back and last as long as he can. For some reason that makes you want to mess with him. You pull him down, kissing him. You then whisper into his ear. “Cum inside me,” you whisper.
“What-” he grunts and bellows. He coughs, and you feel him shudder inside. You gasp, feeling yourself start to shiver. He keeps moving and bucking even though he’s cumming. You feel his thick load dribble out of you and suddenly your back arches. You cry out, clawing down his back as your cream mixes with his.
He collapses on top of you, both of you breathing heavy and deep. Once you relax and cool and huffs. “Not cool.”
You giggle and kiss his temple as you run your fingers through his hair.
“Not cool!” He glares at you then kisses you. “I wasn’t wearing a condom.”
You smirk. “And?”
He frowns. “I was going to pull out!”
You snort. “I’m on the pill, idiot.”
“Oh,” his cheeks darken, and he nuzzles back to your chest. “I’ve never cum inside someone before,” he mutters.
“Really?” You scratch behind his pointed ears.
“Do you still feel ok?” He asks. He rolls over, so he’s laying behind you on the couch. “You don’t…regret anything?”
“Do you?”
He shakes his head. “No.” He cups your cheek. “I’m happy.”
You grin at him. “I am too.” You sit up, kissing him. “I meant it when I said I loved you, Cullan.”
“I meant it too,” he then grins, “when you said you loved me.”
You roll your eyes, and he pushes you back down into the sofa, kissing you lovingly. “I love you,” he whispers. “Since before and for always.”
