You look up as someone takes the seat beside you. He tucks in his soft wings and sits. His fluffy antenna dance around for a moment and then he looks at you with wide, dark eyes. Something of a smile crosses his face and he points at the easel before his chair.
“Do you mind?” He’s soft and white. The fluffy white fur around his neck looks like it has never seen dirt. His arms and hands are black but his fingers are tipped white.
You shake your head. “Go ahead.”
“Thank you,” he settles in, pulling out his supplies and setting up his art station. He flips to a clean page in his art book and places it upon the easel.
“Are you the teacher?” He asks.
“Hm?” You look up at him again. “No,” you chuckle. “Why would you think I’m a teacher?”
He shrugs. “Not sure. But in my last class, there was this guy sitting beside me who kept complaining about the teacher. Then all of a sudden he jumps up and says he is the actual teacher. It scared the shit out of me.”
You giggle, “that must have been Mr. Matthis.”
He nods, his dark eyes wide. “Needless to say, as much as I need that class I couldn’t take it seriously. I dropped it and took up this one in its place.”
“Oh,” you tuck a lock of hair behind your ear. “Have you studied art before?”
He shrugs and tilts his head back and forth. “Studied. Forced. Same thing. I suppose taking it of my own choice though is better.”
“It’s a good class. Ms. Harmiko is really cool.”
He smiles at you, his antenna bouncing. “If I get to sit next to you, all the better.”
You giggle and feel your cheeks burn. Thankfully, Ms. Harmiko comes in and starts the class. She goes over a few things and hands out some old books. Your first assignment is to read each book and do designs and studies of the characters within. She then plops a mannequin in the center of the room and asks you to sketch it.
“Does she teach?” He whispers to you as everyone begins to draw.
“This is her normal first day. Give her a week or two and she’ll warm up.” You tell him.
You notice him bow his head into the ring of fluff around his neck. He stares for a long time before he places his pencil to the paper. He moves his arm fluidly. You never see him remove the pencil from the paper. His stare is serious, his antenna folded back and twitching slightly. You nearly forget to draw as you watch him. There’s something hypnotic about the way he moves.
When class is over he catches you before you leave. “You’re really good,” he starts. “I don’t know why Ms. Harmiko fussed at you.”
You didn’t want to admit it was because you were staring at him. “It’s fine,” you chuckle. “I was using a bad pen.” Your lie it weak.
“I hope you don’t think me too forward,” he starts. “But would you like to go out sometime?”
You hesitate. As lovely as he is and as hard as he works, you don’t feel anything. You nervously shake your head. “No. I’m not dating right now.”
“My bad,” he says with a smile. “If you aren’t dating then, how about we work together.” He holds up his book that was handed to him. “I’m not quite sure what character studies are but I figured you knew.”
You nod, “yeah. We can do that. The art studio is usually open after school so we can meet back here around five?”
“Five works,” he holds his hand out. He’s soft and downy like when you shake his hand.
The two of you work together throughout the semester. You watch his talent grow and see him evolve his own style. You’ve become friends and meet him often outside of art projects. One day as you go to meet him you notice him talking to a girl outside the art room. She’s beautiful and tall. They’re both smiling and they seem like they flirting. She hands him a piece of paper and he kisses it, winking at her. You feel like your heart is being ripped from your chest.
The girl walks away and he tucks the paper into his bag. You approach slowly and he smiles. “You’re late,” he teases.
You feel off balance. The world has gone off its axis and you seem to be the only one who has noticed. Everything is somehow still the same yet it all is horribly wrong.
“Hello,” he waves hi shand before your face. “You ill?” He goes to touch your forehead and you yank away.
“I’m fine,” you snip. “I’m fine.”
He frowns and follows you into the studio. You have a hard time focusing the entire time you’re there. You barely draw a thing. He touches your hand and you look up at him.
“Why are you crying?” He asks.
“I’m not crying I’m-” you stop, realizing that you’ve been crying this whole time. Your cheeks are wet. “Oh, I…guess I am.” You reach for a tissue and wipe your face.
“What’s wrong?” He asks.
“Nothing,” you try to laugh.
“Then why are you crying?” He insists.
A sob escapes and you hang your head. “I have no right to be upset,” you sniffle. “I told you no. I was happy to be your friend,” you lift your head slowly. “I shouldn’t be jealous.”
He frowns, “what are you talking about?”
“I saw you with that girl earlier,” you reply. “I don’t know why but…seeing that made me feel like hot pokers had been shoved into my chest. I wanted to rip you away from her but-”
He pets the top of your head and runs his fingers through your hair. “All she did was give me her number.” He tilts your chin up and wipes your cheeks. “I’ll throw it away if you want me to.”
You turn your head away and shake it. “No. I don’t control your life. I should get over this. You deserve to live your life. Date whoever you want.”
He takes your hand and laces his fingers with yours. “I want to date you,” he says softly. “But you told me no. So I became your friend. I wanted to be near you because of the light I see around you.” You look back at him and see his smile. “A friend is what you wanted so a friend I became. I’ll be anything for you.”
You sniffle and he wipes your tears away again. “My light?”
He bumps his forehead to yours. “I’m a moth, remember? I like beautiful lights.”
You tilt your head and kiss him. You press soft kisses all over his face and his wings flutter. He touches your face, kissing you back. You meet his gaze and smiled awkwardly. You sniffle again and he wipes your eyes.
“Have you loved me all this time?” You ask.
“Most of it,” he smiles. “I was just happy to be your friend. I never knew your feelings grew.”
“Neither did I,” you blow your nose. “Until now.”
He chuckles and kisses you again. “Let me take you on that date now.”
You shake your head. “Oh god, not now!” You clap your hands over your face. “My eyes are all red and swollen. My mascara is probably all over my face. My nose is all bulbous and shiny. I can’t go anywhere like this.”
He kisses your neck, his lips are soft and tickle your skin. “How about I come pick you up in an hour?” He whispers into your ear. His voice is deep and seductive, you’ve never heard this voice from him before. “I’ll make a proper show of it.” He kisses your ear.
You blush, your heart hammering. “Ok,” you nod. “I’ll see you in an hour.”
He kisses you, wrapping his arms around you. He pulls you in close, his kiss growing heated. You whimper as he pulls back, your gaze hazy as he kisses your cheek.
“I can’t wait to see you,” he purrs and leaves with a sultry smile on his lips.
After you’re able to recuperate from the kiss you dash off home. You take a quick shower and reapply your make. You even take extra care to even do a wing on your eyeliner. You dress up as nicely as you can considering you only have thrift store clothes. As you’re prepping in the mirror nervously there’s a knock at your job.
You open the door and a bouquet of flowers greets you. You gasp, looking up and seeing him standing there. He looks so handsome dressed in blue.
“These are your favorite, correct?” He asks.
You take the bouquet and hold them, sniffing the peony. “Yes, that’s right.” You smile up at him.
He dips down, kissing you soft and light. “You look beautiful,” he takes your hand, leading you out of the apartment.
You’ve been best friends with him for so long you’ve never seen him in this light. He seems so different and yet he’s still the same person you’ve always known. He’s tall and confident. His wings are beautiful and shimmering. The fluff around his neck is so soft and smells so good. How did you never realize before that you loved him?
You cuddle up close beside him, lacing your fingers with his as he leads you outside. That’s when you see the limo. For a moment you wonder who the heck in your building can afford to rent a limo. Then he opens the door for you.
“Wait,” you stare at him. “You rented a limo for a date?”
“I own it,” he replies it. His antenna then droops to the sides. “Uhm…well, I’ll tell you about that later.” He lets you in then sits beside you.
You sit there, nerves suddenly springing back. He says he ‘owns it’ like it was nothing. What could he have to confess to you? You thought you knew him. What had he been hiding all this time?
He leans in close, touching your hand and then petting your knee. He nuzzles close, kissing your cheek and ear. You blush and put your hand on his knee.
“Sorry,” he pulls back. “I’ve wanted to hold you and kiss you for so long. I’m having a hard time holding back now.”
You shake your head. “No that’s fine,” You touch his face, rubbing your finger across his bottom lip. “I’m just a little rattled.”
His antenna droop. “I understand. I just want you to know, I kept it secret because I didn’t want you looking at me differently.” He bumps his forehead to yours again. “I didn’t want to lose your light.”
You smile and give him a gentle peck on the lips. “I believe you.”
The limo stops and he covers your eyes, leading you. “Watch your step,” he purrs into your ear.
You squirm inside. “Don’t use that voice.”
“Oh?” He asks. “Why not?”
“I like it too much,” you say, breathless.
He chuckles and you stop. “Ok,” the voice returns, “are you ready?”
“Yes,” you whisper.
He moves his hands away and you open your eyes. You gasp, staring out over a ballroom filled with candles and white balloons. There’s a table in the center with lights hovering around it. He takes your hand and smiles.
“I hope that’s a good expression.”
You look up at him, squeezing his hand. “What is all this?”
He kisses the back of your hand as he holds it. “Well, this isn’t exactly the first date I had planned. The more time I spent with you the more my plans changed. I fell for you and I wanted to give you a first date you’d never forget.”
“It’s so…extravagant. Don’t get me wrong I love it. I’m so moved I just-” he presses a finger over your lips.
“I’m a prince,” he whispers, his antenna quivering.
You furrow your brow. “A prince”
He nods and he takes a step back. “I know that sounds weird but it’s true.”
“Oh,” you’re not quite sure how to process this. “Then…what changes?” You ask, glancing up at him.
“Uhm,” his antenna twitch and wiggle about. “I’m not sure. Nothing I guess.”
You stand on your tip toes, kissing him. “Let’s continue this amazing first date then.” He smiles, hugging you tight before leading you to the table.
You have a wonderful evening. You talk for hours as you eat. He feeds you wonderful delicacies and even some of your favorite foods. He serves your dessert and coffee, kissing your cheek as he pours. You dance and laugh as he spins you and you dip him. You end up kissing and clinging to him. As you pull apart and your eyes lock you both seem to come to a silent understanding.
“Don’t leave,” he whispers.
“I won’t,” you shake your head.
He takes your hand and leads you away, taking you into a dark room. He kisses you, each one becomes more impassioned and desperate. You both claw at each other’s clothes. You strip them away until your bare chest is flush against his soft fluff.
“Is it ok?” He kisses down your neck.
You nod slowly, “it is extremely ok.”
He chuckles into your ear and falls with you into a bed. He kisses you, pushing you into the soft mattress and his tongue goes down your neck. You moan softly, his hands and tongue making their way down your body. He lifts your legs and his tongue darts around your folds.
“Oh,” you gasp.
He chuckles between your legs, kissing your mound and nibbling your thighs. “There’s more where that came from.” His tongue circles around your clit, his tongue pushing inside and swirling. You whimper and gasp, grasping the top of his head.
“Ow,” he yelps.
You let go quickly. “I’m so sorry!”
He lifts up, rubbing his head. “It’s ok,” he smiles awkwardly, one of his antennae was crooked.
You kiss him and ease him down onto the bed. “I’ll make up for it.”
He sighs as you kiss down his chest and you nuzzle to his thigh. You lick him, feeling his length with your tongue. You take him in your mouth he moans. You move your head slowly, sucking him and stroking him as he gasps and grunts above you.
He pushes you back, gasping for breath. “Stop,” he looks at you with lidded eyes.
You bite back a smile. “Sorry,” you meet his kiss as he pushes you back down into the bed. You roll around in the sheets for a while. You kiss and pet and stroke, your bodies tangling together before he pins you down onto the bed.
“I can’t wait anymore,” he pants.
You touch his face, “me neither,” you whisper.
He lifts your hips and presses himself against your sex. You want to close your eyes but you keep them open. You watch his face and meet his eyes. Your fingers stroking down his chest as he presses inside. He grunts, his lips parting as he feels you squeeze tight around him.
Your breath shudders as he moves inside you. His length hits all the way back inside you and then some. You wrap your legs around him and urge him to move forward. He moves faster, his movements jerky and erratic for a moment. He then slows and catches his breath. He swallows back and starts to move again. He glides and finds a rhythm. His breath hitches again as his hips roll and begin to move fast again.
You whimper and grip onto him. Your back arches as he begins to drive against a sweet spot deep inside you. You whimper, biting your lip as your body begins to quiver. Your thighs clench around him and you squeeze tight. A surprised look comes to his face and his hips jerk and twitches again. He releases sloppily inside you and along your folds. He trembles and shakes as he collapses on top of you.
You catch your breath, petting his neck and back as he nuzzles to you. “Sorry,” he mewls.
“For what?” You whisper to him.
He rolls off and lays beside you. He takes your hand and squeezes it. “I wasn’t very good,” he grumbles.
You kiss him. “Was I your first?”
He ducks his head, hiding his face in the crook of your neck. You giggle and wrap your arms around him. “It’s ok, really.”
“You felt so good,” he moans, muffled by your neck. “I wanted to last longer but you just felt so good!”
You kiss the top of his head. “You felt good too,” you whisper.
He peeks up and kisses you. “I promise, I’ll learn to take care of you.”
You pet his cheek, “thank you, your majesty.”
He frowns at you, pouting. “Don’t call me that.” He leans in, kissing you lovingly.
