Really enjoyed your reaction, it's such a unique and great film. Totally normal to not feel like you totally get it after first seeing it, it plays well outside how of we understand time and there just isn't an easy way to wrap your head around it. Even with having some background in theoretical physics it's... a lot. For what it's worth, it feels (at least for me) like an almost entirely different film the second time you watch it. No less impactful and maybe even more emotionally powerful and as much as you seemed to like it I'd strongly recommend watching it again at some point. The first time a lot of it is, to me, a movie about how humanity might react to a first contact with tuely different aliens. A confusing mix of curiosity and fear. And along with that, a linguist (and physicist) working out how to talk to being with entirely different understanding of.. everything. Watching it again, it opens up so much to watching her try to adjust to losing her hold on a place in time. On progression of time and the most basic assumptions of cause coming before effect. Very happy to see your reaction to to it and that you enjoyed it!
