[Genshin Impact] Chapter 269: The Final Act
🕑 Added 2024-09-24 13:00:08 +0000 UTC"Yes, of course, no problem."
Although this wasn’t quite what Nolan had imagined, personally using the Jade Chamber to smash the Vortex God seemed like an even better experience.
"Alright, Traveler, the task of destroying the floating stone will be yours," Ningguang said, turning her gaze to Lumine, who had just walked over.
"Understood," Lumine nodded in agreement.
Soon enough, the Jade Chamber flew over the sea where the Vortex God, Osial, resided.
Osial activated his divine power once again, creating a massive whirlpool on the surface of the sea in an attempt to drag the Jade Chamber down and destroy it.
However, Osial had only recently broken free from his seal, and half of his body was still trapped within it. His divine power was nowhere near its peak—he was significantly weaker than his full strength. Moreover, he had sustained a critical injury after being struck in his weak spot.
Overall, Osial found it increasingly difficult to break through the Jade Chamber's defenses under their combined efforts.
Seeing that the timing was right and to prevent further interference from Osial, Ganyu unleashed her elemental burst—Celestial Shower!
A massive ice spirit orb, adorned with Qilin patterns, appeared in her soft, white hands.
She threw the orb down.
It hovered in midair, raining countless ice shards over the area, completely engulfing Osial in its freezing range.
In an instant, both Osial’s body and the surrounding sea began to freeze.
Although the ice couldn’t deal much damage to Osial, it greatly restricted his movements.
Seizing the opportunity, Nolan followed Ningguang’s instructions. He summoned several massive semi-transparent threads, wrapping them around both sides of the Jade Chamber.
It was like setting up a slingshot.
The Jade Chamber was the stone in the slingshot, with the floating stone providing the backward tension before the launch. As soon as Lumine destroyed the floating stone with her sword, the semi-transparent threads would catapult the Jade Chamber downward.
As for simply lifting the Jade Chamber and smashing it down—well, that was impossible.
Despite how massive the spiritual threads looked, they could only exert a force of about 500 kilograms, which was nowhere near enough to lift the Jade Chamber.
And the Jade Chamber? It weighed far more than 500 kilograms. Judging by its size and scale, Nolan estimated its weight in tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of tons. The exact number was unclear, though.
"Everyone, I’ll leave the task of empowering our Honorary Knight to you," Ningguang said to Moon Carver, Granny Ping, and the other adepti, who had just returned after escorting the Millelith.
"Haha, boosting someone’s strength isn’t difficult at all," Granny Ping chuckled and nodded.
Pointing her finger at Nolan, a stream of white adeptal power flowed into his body.
Nolan instantly felt a heavy weight upon his consciousness, as though he had been burdened with something. At the same time, however, he could feel an endless surge of power welling up within him.
Moreover, this power could be directed to any part of his body as he wished.
Could this be the adeptal power of the adepti? Nolan thought, slightly surprised. It felt far more mystical than elemental energy.
"This is a technique I created in my spare time—it allows me to store a portion of my adeptal power and grant it to others. I originally made it for my disciple to protect herself in dangerous situations, but now, I’ll give it to you as well."
With her hands clasped behind her back, Granny Ping offered a simple explanation to Nolan.
"Thank you very much, Granny Ping," Nolan expressed his gratitude.
Nolan could feel that, although the adeptal energy wasn't vast, if he fully infused it into his ethereal threads, it should give the Jade Chamber a decent initial velocity.
It was like pulling a slingshot further back; the farther you pull, the faster and more powerful the shot when released. Combined with the force of gravity during free fall, the impact would be immense.
"Since Granny Ping gave you adeptal energy, I’ll summon a strong wind to help propel the Jade Chamber," said Cloud Retainer. Instead of imbuing Nolan with adeptal energy, she created a downward wind force to push the Jade Chamber.
Meanwhile, Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper did provide him with blessings. One bestowed a spell to enhance the strength of his threads, while the other gave Nolan a "Clarity of Mind" spell.
"Strength Enhancement" was self-explanatory.
"Clarity of Mind" temporarily boosted his mental strength, which allowed Nolan to channel even greater power through his ethereal threads.
Soon, everything was ready.
Finally, Ningguang used her Geo powers to increase the Jade Chamber’s weight. Seeing that the moment was right, Lumine thrust her sword into the Jade Chamber.
The force of her strike pierced the ground, shattering the floating stone at the base of the chamber.
The moment it broke, the levitation effect on the Jade Chamber vanished. It was like releasing the hand that held a slingshot in place.
The Jade Chamber shot downward like a cannonball, crashing toward the Vortex God Osial below.
The adepti quickly cast spells to whisk everyone away, ensuring they wouldn’t be caught in the massive explosion.
Just as Nolan and the others escaped at incredible speed, a deafening explosion erupted behind them. The sea surged violently in its wake.

As the shockwaves from the explosion scattered the dark clouds above, a beam of sunlight pierced through.
At the same time, Nolan’s character panel notified him of the Vortex God’s defeat.
"Osial is gone! Did we actually do it?" Paimon exclaimed, looking at where the god once was.
After a while, the winds and waves calmed, and the Jade Chamber had been obliterated in the explosion, vanishing along with Osial.
"The ominous and malevolent aura of the Vortex God has indeed begun to fade," confirmed Moon Carver.
"The effects of the Sigil of Permission have dissipated, and Osial has been critically wounded and sealed away once more. It is impossible for him to wreak havoc again!" Moon Carver continued after a brief pause.
"Sealed again? I thought we killed him," Paimon said in surprise.
"Hmph, killing a god is not so easy," Cloud Retainer replied, her wings flapping as she glanced at Paimon.
"Besides, killing him would only bring more trouble. The remains of a god would spawn countless demons and curses. Liyue would never know peace!" she added with a scoff.
Nolan nodded thoughtfully—this aligned with the original story, where Osial was resealed rather than killed.
"Oh, I see! No wonder the Geo Archon used a sealing method to imprison him," Paimon said, scratching her head, looking both enlightened and confused.
Suddenly recalling something from earlier, she said, "Speaking of the Geo Archon, that Fatui Harbinger released Osial because they couldn't find something called a ‘Gnosis’ in the Archon’s body, right? They wanted to force him to reveal himself.
"Now that we’ve dealt with the Vortex God, what’s going on with the Geo Archon?"
