[Genshin Impact] Chapter 277: Can I Touch Your Ears?
🕑 Added 2024-10-06 11:48:26 +0000 UTC"This is simple!"
As he spoke, Nolan launched a mild spiritual attack on the squeaking mouse.
Without any visible change, the mouse being held by the translucent thread suddenly went limp with a faint "squeak" as it passed out.
This time, Nolan didn’t use his "spiritual threads" to execute the attack.
Now at level 80, having completed his sixth breakthrough, his mental power was strong enough to be released without the aid of the "spiritual threads." So, he decided to test it out a little.
Invisible, intangible—it worked perfectly.
Of course, the attack wasn’t as powerful as when he used his "spiritual threads," but with his growing strength, his translucent threads could now be summoned within a 10-kilometer radius at will. They could exert up to five tons of force, useful for both physical and psychic attacks.
Few people or monsters could withstand that kind of power.
With such range, it felt like he could retire his bow and arrows entirely.
"Alright, next, use the sterilized scalpel to make a two-millimeter incision on its forelimb."
As Sucrose poured the green liquid from the glass flask into a smaller container, she naturally directed Nolan to assist her.
When Sucrose was in work mode, she was efficient and straightforward.
Nolan followed her instructions.
He didn’t use his hands to pick up the scalpel—he had some medical knowledge and knew that bacteria on his hands could contaminate the blade.
But using spiritual threads didn’t have that issue.
Summoning a small, translucent thread, he carefully lifted the silver scalpel from the glass dish filled with disinfectant.
It’s worth noting that the disinfectant in Teyvat didn’t have a sharp smell; instead, it had a faint fruity aroma.
Perhaps it was extracted from some kind of fruit or plant—this fantastical world certainly had its surprises.
Using his intangible psychic power, Nolan wiped off the excess disinfectant from the scalpel.
He then gently made a small incision on the forelimb of the unconscious mouse. Before that, he had used his psychic ability to clear away some of the fur around the area, ensuring that no fur would get into the wound and cause an infection.
Maybe because the mouse's forelimb didn’t have many blood vessels, or because the cut was small, only a little blood oozed out.
"Is this good enough?" Nolan asked, looking at Sucrose.
"Yes, the wound is the right size. We're just doing a quick test to see if the ointment works.
If it does, we’ll need to find larger animals to continue testing, as small mice like this can’t handle larger cuts."
Sucrose scraped a bit of the jelly-like green ointment with a glass slide and applied it to the mouse’s wound.
The effect was immediate— the bleeding stopped almost at once.
"Did it work?" Nolan asked, puzzled.
"Hmm, the bleeding has stopped, but the wound hasn’t healed quickly. It’s not much different from regular ointment."
After carefully observing the results, Sucrose realized that the ointment’s effect was still far from her intended goal.
"The purpose of this ointment was to heal wounds that won’t stop bleeding after being attacked by Rift Hounds, but it seems like that goal hasn't been achieved yet."
"Maybe it's because of the earlier mistake..."
"Sigh, I’ll just have to try it a few more times. That's how biological alchemy research goes," Sucrose sighed regretfully.
"True."
Nolan, who didn’t know much about the subject, nodded and offered some comfort to the somewhat disappointed Sucrose.
Clearing the table of its current items, he said, "Come on, let me show you the rare creatures I’ve collected during my adventures. They might be valuable for your research."
"Mm-hmm."
Hearing this, Sucrose quickly perked up, showing a look of anticipation.
"This is a creature called a Firebat that I encountered in the wilds of Liyue. It’s not something you see often in Mondstadt."
Nolan pulled out the corpse of a Firebat from his Delusion.
It was clear that the creature hadn’t been dead for long—it looked "fresh" and should be suitable for research.
"Wow, I've never seen this creature before. Thank you, Mr. Adventurer!"
Sucrose's eyes sparkled as she picked up a pair of long tweezers and began examining the Firebat, while expressing her gratitude to Nolan.

Studying new species would help her make rapid progress in biological alchemy and push her further on the path to uncovering truths.
And, of course, it could lead to new discoveries in the process.
Seeing the affection notification pop up on his character panel, Nolan smiled, knowing this wasn’t the end. He continued, "This is just one. I have plenty more stored, enough for your research. Next up is this—a Geovishap Hatchling’s forelimb."
After showing the Firebat, he pulled out the forelimb of a Geovishap and placed it in an iron basin on the lab bench.
He had just retrieved it with his spiritual threads. Using the basin ensured that the creature's blood wouldn’t spill everywhere.
"A Geovishap Hatchling!" Sucrose’s interest was clearly piqued. "I've heard of this species. It evolves into a Geovishap and eventually into a Primo Geovishap."
"I've always been curious about how these creatures change so drastically as they grow.
But I’ve never had the chance to study them!"
If she could uncover the secrets of this creature’s evolutionary process, could she possibly splice its genes into other organisms to make them evolve as well?
Ideas raced through Sucrose’s mind as she became even more impressed by Nolan.

"I’ve got something even more special—take a look!"
Nolan sensed that Sucrose’s affection could increase even further, so he pulled out the Everflame Seed from the Pyro Regisvine.
As it appeared, the temperature around them noticeably rose.
"This—this is?!"
Sucrose recognized the seed from her studies on Pyro Regisvines, a boss-tier monster. She had never imagined having the chance to research one.
These monsters were incredibly rare and dangerous!
Moreover, the Everflame Seed was a highly valuable Pyro element material.
It was worth a lot of money, and adventurers who obtained one often sold it to Pyro Vision holders needing it for their breakthroughs.
Rarely would anyone use it for research.
"Can I really have something this precious?" Sucrose’s green, fluffy ears twitched in disbelief as she looked at Nolan.
"Of course. I have no use for it," Nolan said casually. While he could sell it for a few million Mora, gaining Sucrose’s affection was far more valuable to him.
"Ah, thank you! Thank you so much! I... I don’t even know how to repay you!"
Sucrose, seeing Nolan confirm his words, felt her heart bloom like a Sweet Flower. Her voice became a little nervous and shy again.

Nolan thought for a moment, then smiled and cleared his throat before joking, "If you want to thank me, well... ahem, could I maybe... touch your ears?"
