Impact wands HURT. And it’s a delayed pain. For a second you’re like “oh that wasn’t so ba…” and then you crumple to the ground and die a little because the ouch kicks in.
I like to start rubbing the spot when that happens, gently but firmly. I remember learning in a neurology class how rubbing an area after pain can help because the sensation “confuses the nerves”. I also make little noises of condescending concern, “Oh you poor thing.” It helps too.
