[Superman] Chapter 25: Gwen's Invitation
🕑 Added 2024-01-10 06:54:26 +0000 UTCThe small interlude during class did not cause too big of an impact.
It only made the other students feel that the originally cowardly and timid Peter Parker seemed to have become a different person after the vacation.
And Peter, who had closed his eyes again, continued to "watch the movie" in his mind.
That's right, under his concentration, the sound that converges in his mind through super hearing will form a panoramic picture like being in the scene.
It could be bluntly said to be much more advanced than any satellite radar.
"Humans suffer a disastrous defeat, what a pity..."
"Watching" the enormously huge green giant suddenly accelerates and smashes over several tanks with its shoulder.
Then even more easily directly ripped off the turrets on top of the tanks with its hands (pulling radishes from the ground), leaving only the base.
Then grabbing the barrel, it used the entire turret as a hammer, flipping over all surrounding tanks in just a few strikes.
Even Peter couldn't help but feel the Hulk's violence and tyranny.
And the human army seemed to have no power to resist at all before it.
An entire tank battalion, dozens of tanks, was "easily" completely overturned by it.
Terrifying power and a strong sense of violence came to the surface, making a person can't help but marvel and be mesmerized.
Even with Peter's current power, he could also accomplish it, and even more easily at that.
But Peter thought to himself that he definitely couldn't do it like the Hulk, making people just look filled with the aesthetics of violence.
"Violence is only momentarily beautiful, while elegance is eternal!"
Watching as the Hulk completely swept away the ground forces in minutes, and finally shot down two armed helicopters after hurling over a dozen tanks.
Then it rapidly ran towards New York City.
The fighter jets behind relentlessly chased it, with only the few remaining missiles left whistling at the running Hulk.
Boom boom boom!
The Hulk dodged most of the missiles, which blasted dazzling flames on the ground.
Eventually one missile precisely rushed at the Hulk's back and was just about to strike its body.
But it seemed as if the Hulk had predicted it. It suddenly shifted sideways and directly grabbed the missile flying parallel to it.
Its body abruptly spun 180 degrees and hurled the missile at the relentlessly chasing fighter jet behind it.
Boom!
The fighter jet crashed at the sound.
While Hulk leaped up several hundred meters again with the aid of its tremendous jumping ability, covering a distance of miles with each jump. Gradually shaking off the human army's pursuit.
Finally completely losing sight of it in a forest.
And seeing the chase drama finally come to an end, Peter also stopped his super hearing.
"Dr. Banner is also an exceptional scientist. Pity his current situation does not allow recruiting him into my science team."
During his last global kidnapping of scientists, Peter had considered Dr. Bruce Banner.
Unfortunately, by that time he had already suffered an accident during an experiment and undergone gamma radiation, turning him into the Hulk.
Naturally, Peter could only give up on kidnapping Dr. Banner for Tony and the others' safety.
In fact, there were still many others Peter had given up on.
Such as Dr. Pym the Ant-Man, as well as Victor Von Doom known as Doctor Doom...
...
The morning classes quickly ended.
By noon, Peter came to the school cafeteria alone. After lining up to buy food, he found an isolated spot bathed in sunlight and leisurely started eating.
"Do you mind if I sit here, Mr. Peter Parker?"
Peter had just sat down not long ago when he suddenly heard a pleasing female voice by his ear. Although she was asking, she directly sat down across from Peter without waiting for his agreement.
"Be my guest, Ms. Gwen Stacy."
Without looking, Peter knew that it was none other than Gwen the Spider-Woman who was sitting across from him at the moment.
"If I tell her now that the Venom Spider that was chasing her relentlessly a while ago is actually me, would she leave without another word?"
Peter thought with some mischief in his mind.
"Forget it, there's no guarantee that she'll leave or not, but she definitely won't hesitate to smash the food tray over my head."
Although Peter wouldn't let her succeed of course.
"I heard you sent Flash to the nurse's office today?"
Gwen, who was sitting across from Peter, wasn't eating but was casually stirring the mashed potatoes on her plate with her spoon while making no attempt to hide the fact that she was looking at Peter with a gaze full of curiosity.
"No, I didn't. He struck first himself then accidentally hurt himself."
Being stared at without restraint like this by the school's dream lover of almost all male students, known for her beauty and looks,
If it was the cowardly Peter from before, he would have probably already lowered his head with a red face, stuttering at this point.
However, the current Peter was leisurely eating his meal while slowly opening his mouth to reply calmly.
"You really have changed."
The motion of stirring the mashed potatoes suddenly stopped. Gwen's expression also abruptly became serious as she stared fixedly at the still-composed Peter as if wanting to see something.
"Everyone changes. I think the current me is pretty good, don't you think?"
Peter slowly stopped eating as he fearlessly matched Gazes with Gwen in front of him.
"Hmm...I think it seems...not bad."
Stared at so strongly by Peter, Gwen the crime-fighting, justice-upholding Spider-Woman unexpectedly felt somewhat shy without realizing it. She unconsciously lowered her head and started stirring the mashed potatoes again.
"Peter, ever since my family moved away from next to yours when we were young, it feels like we haven't talked face-to-face like this for a long time."
After stirring the mashed potatoes in her plate for a while, Gwen finally scooped up a spoonful and slowly put it in her mouth.
She seemed to hesitate for a bit before slowly speaking.
"Yeah, I guess so."
Peter continued lowering his head to eat. As the guy who had just transmigrated over, he didn't have much say in these things.
He only knew that in the memories he had received, Gwen in front of him was indeed considered his childhood friend.
Unfortunately, when he was ten years old, Gwen's father leaped from an ordinary police officer to a deputy police chief, so they moved to a more secure high-class apartment in a wealthy neighborhood.
There was almost no contact between them after that.
It wasn't until middle school that they saw each other again.
But Gwen had become very beautiful and refined, instantly becoming the school beauty.
On the other hand, Peter, who was timid and often bullied by his classmates, became withdrawn and unsociable.
Even when he sees his childhood friend again, and also has a trace of love in his heart, he does not dare to take the initiative to talk to her.
Of course, this had no impact whatsoever on the current Peter.
He only wondered whether the development of this storyline meant the universe he was in now was indeed the comic's Earth-65 universe.
"Today was just the first day back. We have free time in the afternoon."
Putting down the spoon in her hand, Gwen suddenly raised her head. Her gaze seemed to have some anticipation as she slowly extended an invitation to Peter.
"So do you have time to come with me this afternoon to see the company I'm interning at?"
"If I remember right, you're interning at Oscorp now, correct?"
Peter also raised his head and spoke to confirm.
Seeing Gwen lightly nod, Peter could only think inside.
"Hope I don't get escorted to the police station by security like last time."
