Anxious/Excited

She’s texting me too much as we approach, checking this detail and that, making up for the quiet years between us where our only contact was the annual New Years card I would send her with photos.
I consider the changes in the past 9 years, my wrinkles, my 10 extra pounds, my experience, my growth, my achievements, my patience worn thin. I know they’ve changed too. I assume.
Will she kiss me? Will she still love my hands? Will he and I still have that quiet intensity that splits us at the seams when we’re alone? Will it reignite the heat between us? Will it highlight the distance those years have placed, the void between the life they lead and the life they left?
In an hour and a half I’ll find out.

This captures the feeling of nervous anticipation so vividly. Beautiful.

Soon! I hope what you find is shared joy, and new places where your changes and their changes fit together.
