🕑 Added 2023-12-15 15:00:13 +0000 UTCYES I know too much about the Twilight lore and franchise, NO I don't need you to judge me about it! There are 11 things I wish I could fully separate from that weird book series and enjoy entirely on their own. These are those 11 things.

Sorry to comment on a video that is from a year and a half ago but this video was made for me. I was 12 in 2008 and i never really recovered from that. There is stuff in twilight i have never stopped thinking about. Leah, for one, who is for sure having the worst time in the franchise out of ANYONE. SM touches on such interesting themes with her background characters and does nothing with them. Esme!! oh my god, I could talk about this forever.

Emily being Leah’s COUSIN. And then everyone having access to her every single thought. Including the yearning for Sam. AND SAM CAN HEAR IT, TOO. RAGE RAGE RAGE!!!

I was weirdly obsessed with Twilight as a kid but I was also only like 9 or 10 (I'm 25 now) so my memory of the insanity and reading comprehension in general was bad. So now that I've been reminded I wanna pluck some of these elements out for my own stories too. Anyway I was an Alice stan and I literally didn't finish Breaking Dawn because she wasn't in it for such a massive portion of it (I think I also lost interest in general but unrelated.) I always wanted more of her. Also unrelated to any of that, your general energy is impeccable, like the vibes? *chefs kiss* The amount of times you cracked up in the middle of a sentence was just full of so much joy and it made me smile.

1 Rattholomew sharing her dreams with Bella 2 Rosalie and Emmett breaking multiple houses by banging too hard 3 baby raised in a commune of vampires who dont sleep literally always sleeps in someone's arms has never been put down 4 the old ones who used to be the vampire presidents before the volturi staged a coup??? obsessed 5 THE FACT THAT JACOB STRIPPED DOWN AND SHIFTED IN FRONT OF CHARLIE to explain Bella without having him know about vampires SIR 6 the wolves' fur length directly correlates to the human's hair length 7 vampire cops 8 Bella's shield wall thing in breaking dawn absolutely goes 9 I was weirdly obsessed with Angela as an 11yo Have you read Branches by Tatiana Carey/nerdymixedpan? The pdf is on etsy and it's twilight but what if good lol and it uses some of your list.

I love the horror potential that the reason Jacob in Eclipse is so desperate for Bella to pick him is because subconsciously he’s trying to stop the baby from being born so he can retain his sense of self. Like, it’s so gross for his violation of Bella’s boundaries and consent to be seen as even mildly romantic, but if it’s his desperate last ditch attempt at stopping her from accidentally creating the being that will destroy his autonomy? Horror gold

I am a predictable man, I’ll admit it
The Plum Satyr
The way I immediately knew Emmett would be on this list

Haley Whipjack

Man I was so obsessed with the books in 8th+9th grade; the first movie came out like right in the middle of 8th grade for me and I remember hating it as an adaptation but being obsessed with Kristen Stewart in it (and also her extremely sapphic real life friendship with Nikki Reed). Bella/Alice and Bella/Rosalie were some of my earliest f/f ships from before I actually realized I was gay lmao. Anyway, this is a great list, and probably the only other thing I would rescue from twilight is the "eye color changes depending on how much human blood is in your system" thing, bc I always thought that was really cool

I remember reading the twilight series when I was like 9 or 10 because I borrowed them from my older cousin and I was obsessed. I read all the books and then bought the movies off of iTunes to watch because I was embarrassed and did NOT want to watch them with my parents and I just know that had I known of Fandom spaces like I do now I would have been insufferable. Jacob Black deserved better then how he was written and I will stand by that fact. I have been loving the Twilight Renaissance, but because I read these books close to a decade and a half ago my recollection of the books themselves is only okay because I have not reread them in forever

Have you ever looked into Vampire the Masquerade? I think some of the lore might intrigue there.

Listen, my first date with my now long time girlfriend, was binge watching all the twilight movies. I am equally obsESSED with all of these things. Something from the movies I'll never get over though is Emmett's fucking hard-boiled EGGS in a BAG?? I love him.

I love imprinting for fan fic purposes, it just makes for really interesting stories and I wish it was done in something else

I never read the books only watched the films, but I absolutely can relate to the mania getting into school. Our middle school ended up having an after school watch the first Twilight party, me and my friends were fully on board the mocking Twilight because it was popular train and so were delighted when one of our friend group won part of the events raffle and got a life sized cut out of Edward Cullen that we destroyed.

i refused to read any of the twilight books till i had watched all the movies cause i had seen so many bad book to screen adaptations of other things. because i did it this way i found myself liking both the books and movies

I still find it so weird how your like 3 years older than me with your life way more seemingly put together. Congrats tho and thanks for the video

I was fully an adult man when Twilight happened, so I did not know a lot of these things were in Twilight, but I do know many of them from other vampire media! Specifically: #5 if you have not consumed Interview With The Vampire in some form (the book, the movie, the new series) please do. Because first of all it is like, one of the most important pieces of vampire media ever made (probably second only to Dracula) but because Claudia is THE horrifying vampire child of all horrifying vampire children. Baby Kirsten Dunst was absolutely TERRIFYING in that role. And #6 baby you gotta play some Vampire the Masquerade! Beyond the core conflict of being a person vs being a monster, the biggest part of that game is do you want to be the vampire presidents or do you want to tear them down?

I read the twilight books when they came out as a 16 yo guy at the time, I def saw a few issues with content, but mostly read it as a weird fantasy monster v werewolf story and my idiot child mind ignored a lot of the red flags etc. When the movies came out I was a little older and saw more of the red flags, but also you could just feel how much most of the cast hated working on those movies. One Spoiler alert I would have added to your list, was kind of my favorite at the time. The Quileutes were not werewolves, and at the time I thought it was so cool that reveal with the volturi. Theyre shapeshifters that long ago chose the form of wolves. Thing is, the Volturi would have KNOWN that because of their ongoing war with real werewolves.

that's what im SAYING!! come home to me 'instantaneous brainwashing that the universe demands you see as normal and romantic', find me 'the monsters in the trees are changing our children and we are powerless to stop them' i will be GOOD to you

I know nothing about Twilight but after this excellent list I too want to take the werewolf concepts and see them turned into a horror novella. They're so *juicy*? And they're used for Twilight romance and racism (TM)? Someone rehome them to an author that can treat them better, stat
