That evening, Amanda found herself at a dorm party.
It wasn’t exactly her scene, but she had been struggling for ages to get a Finance internship, and this was her last resort. Based on everyone she had spoken to in her major, upperclassman Kurt Wilson was the guy she needed to talk to. And inconveniently enough, the only locations he could be found at these days were dorm parties, ragers, and the occasional frat orgy. Senioritis, indeed.
For a while Amanda lurked in the corner, trying to seem personable. It took her a while to spot Kurt, and when she did, she zeroed in on him. She was a girl with a purpose, impending motherhood be damned. Her rounded belly hidden in the folds of a loose cargo jacket, she began to make her way over to her target, who stood buried in a gaggle of friends. Amanda had almost reached him when the scent of something distracted her. Her attention snapped sharply to the snack table.
God, her appetite was relentless lately. It was overpowering, even then. Maybe she could just grab a little something, then sweet-talk Kurt and get this over with. She grimaced as her belly growled with urgency. Geez, this baby was hungry.
Changing course, Amanda closed on the snack table, grabbing a handful of chips, and intending to munch on the way to Kurt. But without really thinking, she had already stuffed the entire handful into her mouth. She chewed it down as her fist grabbed up another.
Even as she ate, Amanda’s hunger continued to grow. Maybe she could just grab a couple of these mini donuts, and then a few of the pigs in a blanket, and – oh, there were so many options. She had to try them all.
Her stomach was grumbling harder. The more she ate the more she wanted. Soon she was frantically gorging herself with both hands. Pretzels, pastries, and little sandwiches were all stuffed between her lips.
She felt full, tight, and a little sick. Even then, she couldn’t stop eating. Her belly grew tighter until it ached. Amanda groaned as she chewed through a thick wheel of brie, demolishing the remainder of the charcuterie. She only came out of her reverie when she found that there were no more snacks. She groaned, cupping her belly. “Mmmghhh…” It was so tight, it was practically throbbing.
Amanda slowly looked up to see her classmates standing around staring at her. Her face reddened. She must have looked like a complete slob.
But then her stomach tensed and she felt another powerful wave of hunger. She could hardly think through it. All that mattered was being filled.
People gasped as Amanda shoved past them, staggering towards the dorm kitchenette, where she wrenched open cupboards.
She ate dry crackers, gulped down cans of vegetables, and tore through bags of bread rolls. In the fridge, she found some leftover salami, another thick wheel of cheese, and several cups of yogurt. There was a tub of butter and she found herself scooping up globs of it, stuffing it into her mouth as she moaned in pleasure and horror of what she was doing.
Her belly was aching and throbbing, her previously loose jacket now stretched tightly against her. Amanda yelped as her abdomen tightened another notch, then the zipper finally succumbed to the pressure, and the jacket torn right open. People gasped as her swollen belly emerged.
“Ohhh…” Amanda whined, her greasy hands cupping the swell while trying to tug down her newly straining shirt. She yelped as a sharp sensation shot through her navel, then her bellybutton popped out.
The room was dead silent. Even the music had been turned off.
Amanda stammered, “I — I’m so sorry. I…mghhhh… I have to go!” She belched, reddening more.
Her classmates simply gawked.
Amanda turned and she hurried off, as fast as her awkward body would allow. She left the dorm apartment, then the building, to finally reach the parking lot, where she fumbled to unlock her car. Moments later, she was speeding back to Charles and Barbara’s. She just wanted to go to her room and forget this night had ever happened. She just didn’t know what had come over her back there. Amanda groaned again, cupping her belly as it gurgled. She continued to steer with her other hand.
Moments later, she was slipping into the dark house, doing her best wrap her torn jacket around her expanded waist. Just before Amanda could make it into her bedroom, she heard a voice call:
“Amanda dear, is that you?”
It was Barbara. “Yeah,” said Amanda breathlessly, her hand gripping the doorknob to her room. “It was…um…a long night. Think I’m just gonna turn in.”
“Just a moment Amanda, we wanted a quick word.” That was Charles’s voice this time. She wasn’t sure where it was coming from. Maybe they were in the kitchen.
Amanda looked down at her state, again marveling at the effect of the recent growth spurt. She looked as though she was six months along, even though she was still in the early stages. She hadn’t even disclosed her pregnancy to her employer’s yet. She had been putting off in fear of the repercussions.
“It’s — it’s kind of the bad time,” she stammered, feebly hugging her midsection with her free arm. She turned the doorknob and was surprised find it locked.
And then, from around the corner, Barbara and Charles emerged, and they were…they were different.
