Bodybuilder

Jake was a thirty-eight-year-old bodybuilder. These two facts seemed contradictory to some.
“You’re getting old,” his agent told him during their latest meeting. “You just can’t compete with these twenty-year-olds. Last competition you placed second to last!”
It was infuriating. Being a bodybuilder was Jake’s whole life. Everyone he spoke to suggested he change careers. He just couldn’t maintain the weight and muscle mass that he had in the past, in his younger years.
“This should do the trick,” Avery said, handing over a small vial of purple fluid.
Jake raised an eyebrow as he eyed the substance. “What’s this?”
“You said you needed help putting on muscle weight. It’s my own special formula. Completely legal, if that’s what you’re concerned about.”
Jake stared at the vial for a moment longer before he shrugged and downed it. Avery was a scientist. Jake had known him since high school. The guy had always been eccentric, but he was generally well-meaning. And at this point, Jake was willing to try anything.
-
It actually worked!
In only days, Jake could see that he was bulking up — and more than he’d been able to in years. His biceps were larger, pecs bulging prominently. Overall, his muscles became more full and defined. His weight finally started to climb, and Jake placed second in his latest competition!
He couldn’t have been more relieved. The prize money he earned set him up for three months time.
Oddly enough, Jake found himself spending most of the money on takeout. Hunger appeared to be a major side-effect of the drug. He was eating nonstop, probably to facilitate the rapid muscle development — which seemed normal enough. Feeling celebratory about his recent success, Jake took some time off, stuffing himself with his favorite foods and pastries by the day while hitting the clubs by night if just to show off his statuesque body.
As time passed, the side-effects continued to worsen.
-
Jake was rapidly putting on weight, and it wasn’t just muscle anymore. In fact, the fat gain seemed to be surpassing his muscle development. He tried to get it under control, but he just couldn’t stop eating. Any moment that he didn’t have food halfway into his mouth, he felt practically starved. This shit was really getting out of hand.
Jake was getting softer. His perfect six-pack had given way to a plump, rounded belly that seemed to be growing every day. During the qualifiers for his newest competition, he didn’t even make the first cut, instead receiving queer looks from the examiners.
“Are you sure you’re in the right place?” one of them asked.
Jake felt humiliated. As he left, he could see some of the other applicants pointing and snickering at him. There was even a skinny little runt Jake was certain he could break to pieces.
“Look at that beer gut,” the kid whispered. “How pathetic.”
Fists clenching, Jake restrained himself from reacting. Instead he walked off and returned to his apartment. He seriously needed to reassess his eating habits.
-
His belly continued to surge with growth. It had gone from looking like fat to just looking…odd. His abdomen had become a rounded dome, protruding sharply from his form. None of his work out clothing properly covered him anymore, instead pulling down only partly over his swollen midsection.
He cupped the huge mass. He had gone from looking as though he had a substantial beer belly to looking as though he was pregnant or something. “What the hell was in that drug?” Jake resolved to see Avery by the week’s end.
-
In only days, Jake’s growth had skyrocketed. His stride had become awkward, and he soon acknowledged that he was waddling now. He would waddle about, panting and clutching at his enormous midsection. People would stare wherever he went. By then, his shirts would barely pull down to his navel.
His belly practically preceded him into Avery’s large apartment. It was just so huge. He looked like he had a beach ball attached to him. Jake huffed and panted as he made his way inside, Avery looking entirely delighted at the sight of him.
“What the hell did you do to me?” Jake griped, leaning on the wall for support. His free hand continued to rub up and down on the skin of his exposed lower belly, by some compulsion. It was just so full, so tight, practically throbbing with pressure.
Avery happily ushered him to a large medical bed he had set up right in the middle of the living room. Jake had to struggle just not to lose his balance.
“I’d like to thank you for your cooperation,” Avery said. “You have been an excellent test subject.”
“What?” said Jake in complete confusion.
That’s when he felt the pinch in his neck. He grunted as he realized that Avery had injected him with something.
“’the hell?” Jake snapped, struggling as Avery started pushing him back to lie on his back.
His belly tightened and clenched, before jerking painfully. It genuinely looked like it was about to burst! He groaned and cursed, hugging at the orb. Gasping for breath, Jake looked at Avery in panic. “What—nrrghhhh…” His insides writhed forcefully.
“Alien pregnancy,” said Avery, grinning madly. “You should be proud. None of my prior subjects ever made it this far. Get ready. They’re coming.” Avery snapped on a latex glove.
His abdomen giving another quake, Jake threw back his head and screamed.
