As time passed, Eric kept expecting to wake up from a bizarre dream. But no such thing occurred. His strange bought of femininity only seemed to be exacerbating, and he was putting on weight.
As soon as the weekend hit, Eric decided to pay a visit to Porter to finally find out what the hell had been in that beer. Porter lived off campus in some posh apartment his parents paid for. It took Eric five minutes of pounding on the door before someone finally answered. However, she was not Porter.
“Oh,” the woman said, looking him up and down with shrewd eyes. She offered a sympathetic smile. It was like she could see right through him.
Eric shifted uncomfortably. “Is Porter here?”
“He’s sleeping,” she said. She was wearing a bandeau and some fashionable sweatpants, showing off her curvy body. “I’m Stephanie. Can I help you with something?”
“You can help me wake him up,” said Eric impatiently, pushing past her to force his way into the apartment. He quickly located the bedroom, and Porter, who was lying spread-eagle, face down in just some boxers. Eric roughly shook him, but Porter was completely unresponsive.
“I think he overdid it last night,” said Stephanie, who was now leaning on the doorframe. “There was a frat party at—”
Eric released a growl of frustration, throwing his arms up into the air. He felt his breasts stretching against the Canucks t-shirt he was wearing. “The fucktard doesn’t answer his phone, and when I finally come to see him in person, he’s not even conscious. What the hell do I have to do to find out what was in that beer!?”
“You drank the beer?” said Stephanie, perking. She moved closer, peering at him. “I suspected…” Again, she glanced over his awkward attire and oversized sneakers. Her eyes paused on the bulge of his stomach.
Eric absently folded his arms over his waist. “What do you know about the beer?” he demanded.
Stephanie sighed. “As I said, my name is Stephanie.” She offered her hand. “But I used to be…Stephen.”
Well, fuck, Eric thought.

Eric didn’t know how he had been swindled into it, but he suddenly found himself at a nail salon, getting a pedicure, Stephanie sprawled back beside him.
“It happened to me a few years ago,” she said, eyes closed as she allowed her cucumber face mask to set in. “I was a freshman. It was my first night out, and I was dumb enough to accept one of Porter’s homemade concoctions. And well…it led to this. And the birth of my daughter.”
Eric swallowed.
“At first it was horrible. But I’ve really come to accept it. I mean, I don’t think I would change it for the world. Motherhood kind of has that effect on you.”
“This is stupid,” Eric grumbled. He wiggled is toes, unable to ignore how glamorous they looked with their pink polish. “You’re insane.”
“C’mon, Erica, give it a chance.”
Eric tensed. “What did you just call me?”
Stephanie gave a crooked smile, but didn’t answer. Instead, she said, “Let me take you shopping. Try this ‘being-a-girl’ thing out. Just once, then I won’t ask again.”
Eric continued to frown down at his feet. He felt himself shrug.

Shopping consisted of Stephanie dragging him around the mall and picking out various outfits as Eric stood stiffly, staring at her.
Stephanie kept calling him “Erica,” and he feared he was beginning to get used to it.
“Eric” didn’t make much sense anymore. Anytime he tried to assert his original name, eavesdroppers would pause to stare.
Eric stood in a stuffy fitting room of the third department store Stephanie had dragged him to. He stared in the mirror at the latest outfit he’d tried on, not knowing whether to scream or smile.
It was a formfitting midi dress with a deep v-neck and spaghetti straps. The woman gazing back at him in the mirror was undeniably hot. Eric just couldn’t rationalize that that woman was him. He trailed his eyes over his form, the bulging cleavage, the wide hips, and the plump ass. His gaze paused on the swell of his gut, which looked even more evident than it had in his looser, male clothes. His smoothed his hands over it and gulped. The door to the dressing room opened behind him.
Stephanie’s eyes widened, a large grin spreading over her face. “Look at you!” she sang, then gave a wolf whistle as Eric rolled his eyes. “Erica, you have an incredible rack. And they’re only gonna get bigger.” Stephanie cackled.
“Not exactly good news,” Eric responded. Admittedly, he couldn’t deny how amazing the mounds felt to play with, but he wasn’t going to tell her.
“Sit,” Stephanie ordered, gently prodding him towards the bench, where Eric plopped down on his cushiony ass. “You’re almost perfect now. Just to do your makeup.” Stephanie dug a small container out of her purse then began to close in on him wielding an eyeliner brush.
