“I think we’re about ready, sister Adeline,” said Edmund after he set down the twelfth plate around the rectangular dining table. He took a seat with the eleven nuns, his long black robes sweeping with his movements. “Would you like to bless the food?”
Sister Adeline smiled. “I would love to.”
Edmund held hands with the others as they all closed their eyes and sister Adeline got started.
Edmund wasn’t a nun. He was a man. A conman. He was on the run from a powerful merchant who had not been pleased to be out 50 gold coins. Edmund had stumbled upon the peaceful convent, freshly cleaned robes hanging on the lines out back. Just on the cusp being caught, Edmund had grabbed some of the robes and raised his voice to an unnaturally pitch. He was now Sister Eunice from the capital city. The local nuns had been happy to welcome him into the fold. Which was how Edmund, a twenty-two-year-old man, found himself living with eleven virgin women.
It was a dull life but offered a level of safety and security Edmund had never experienced before. Late at night when the nuns were sleeping Edmund kept himself entertained by going into town and indulging in the amorous offerings of the local men and women. Things were peaceful for the very first time, and though Edmund hated pretending to be a nun, he thought he could handle it for a while. At least until he met James.
James was wild and rough and felt like a beast, his member pushing and pushing impossibly inside Edward. It felt so good, it was almost unnatural. James stretched him wide then swelled and throbbed. Edmund’s innards burned as James grinned wildly, and somehow the pleasure was more than Edmund’s body could take and he passed out.
When Edmund awoke in the small, dank, inn, his whole body ached and James was gone. Edmund felt terribly unwell and it was only as he sat up that he felt how his body was different somehow. His hand slid automatically to his abdomen, encountering a curve of flesh that had not previously been there. It was taut and firm, filled with heat. James had done something to him. He must have been a demon.
Edmund returned to the convent and did not go out again the following night or any night that week. He hoped that the growth of his flesh would go away on its own, but the heat only grew, and with it, a pressure.
He felt that with many of his interactions with the nuns, the pressure spiked or his innards shuddered. It happened when he joined them for prayers, and when he went to church or took confessions. Every time he prayed the pressure surged and soon he realized what was happening. His flesh was growing.
It was hard to hide. The lifestyle didn’t offer much privacy. He shared a room with three others. Soon the bump became so large it began to tent out his robes. When sister Faith saw it, she tore his clothes open and all the nuns gasped at him in shock.
“You’re with child,” Faith said, voicing a fact Edmund had long been trying to deny to himself.
“Yes,” he managed, astonished to find himself a bit tearful. “But please it’s—it’s just impossible. You have to believe me. I—I don’t know how.”
“It’s a miracle!” Faith cried.
The concept caught like fire, faces lifting in exhilaration.
“A virgin pregnancy.”
“Miraculous child.”
“It’s only been two weeks,” Edmund managed.
They sat him down and prayed over him, worshipping like he was some prophet. And as they did, the pressure grew.
“Please don’t,” said Edmund, cupping the swell.
But they didn’t stop. His discomfort only seemed to fuel them. His abdomen rose like dough under their prayers as he grunted and squirmed, hugging his abdomen, trying to hold the pressure in.
Tears rolled down some of the nuns’ cheeks. A miracle was transpiring right in front of them.
“I—I have to—" Edmund heaved himself up, stunned by how far his robes tented out now. He pulled away from their fingers grasping at his clothes and stumbled into the washroom, leaning on the sink as he gasped for breath.
His belly throbbed. His chest was burning. He pulled the top of his ropes open to see a small pair of breasts now protruding there. His breasts.
They were warm and bloated, bloating more as he watched them in the mirror; heaving and surging with growth; swelling right before his eyes. He was becoming a freak. An abomination. His skin flushed and pressurized.
He grunted out as his belly rolled, pushing tight against the robes. He doffed them. There was a banging on the door. He could hear the nuns praying and chanting, some speaking bible verses. Others reciting Hail Mary.
And still he grew, his belly surging forward to an impossible size as his back arched with a cracking noise, and he whined out, his belly shoving against the sink.
His robes fell apart entirely, his belly domical and swelling, approaching the size of a small boulder. His gender was large and hard, far larger than he recalled it ever being. His breasts had swelled to the size of honeydews by then. His nipples ached then dribbled milk. He felt as though he was going to burst at various parts.
“Nghhhh…stop…” His backside ached. The doorknob rattled. “Mgghh….godd!” Edmund cried out as the heat spiked again.
