Tori and Sid were fast friends.
They talked about televisions, movies, games, even books. Sid was in sync with all of Tori's interests. Of course, Tori's interests were limited to the forms of entertainment she had been allowed at the mansion under Wilson or Valerie's supervison. It wasn't as though she could have gone to a park to throw around a ball, or to a party or museum, or had any friends. Her interests were limited to things she could indulge in solitude at home.
And perhaps Sid, a scientist, took to solitude by choice. He wouldn't be the first scholar who was introverted. Those types of intellectual personalities often preferred to just be alone.
So now, years worth of discussion was just coming up. Discussion of plot twists and story characters. Lurid video games. They couldn't seem to stop.
Indeed, they were fast friends. They got along surprisingly well. Sid got in touch with a local farm, and soon there was a steady supply of baby pigs and goats. Tori found the environment incredibly comfortable, and didn't even consider the gravity of her absence from Wilson and Valerie's purview until weeks had passed, and her long, coiling tail was familiar with every edge and corner of Sid's guest room.
The thing that really did it was the growing sense of pressure in Tori's gut, and a developing curve there.
"It's happening again," Tori blurted to Sid one day as Sid was relaxing in the living room. "I'm—pregnant." She was mortified.
Sid straightened from his spot on the couch. "Are you sure?"
Tori nodded. "Before the conference, there was some procedure. I don't even remember going in. But that's when it must have happened."
Sid saw how miserable she looked. "It's going to be okay, Tori. You got through this once before. And when it's over, they'll never be able to touch you again."
Tori wasn't sure about that, but she nodded, sinking into the opposite end of the couch.
"Is it really that bad?"
Tori considered. "No...I mean...the delivery isn't pleasant."
"I suppose that's a given."
"And it's just weird, seeing my body—well, this whole thing has been violating from the start. But that was the price to save my life."
Sid frowned at this.
Tori settled into this new normal. Life became routine again. Sid worked long hours and spent most the day in his basement lab, or he would go off to some other scientific facility when necessary. Tori spent her days indoors mostly, though she felt less like a prisoner than before. She had options now. She could make phone calls, or browse the internet without restrictions. She was even free to leave at any time she wanted. Of course, Tori scarcely found the courage to leave the property.
Her belly was filling out as it had before, her appetite correspondingly surging. Sometimes a meal of a goat and a piglet just wasn't enough. One night Tori awoke to hunger pains assaulting her midsection. That day she had finished off all the young livestock Sid kept in the shed he'd had built out back, but it wasn't enough. Not nearly. The pains exacerbating, Tori got up. She couldn't bring herself to bother Sid from his sleep. Tori was a burden as it was.
Tori slid out of her room and to the front door, her hunger fueling courage. She went outside, into the dark chill of the night, and sensed it immediately. There was an animal nearby.
The area was nicely wooded, but the nearest neighbors were not far. Tori still had to be discreet.
Her attention jerked to movement in the leaves, eyes pinned to the mammal she had sensed. It was a cat—not a stray, but a tabby that was fat and domestic. It even had a collar and a small bell. It strolled lazily towards Tori, untroubled and too trusting. Spoiled from the comforts provided by its owners. Tori's stomach grumbled and ached. She knew this was more wrong somehow, this animal was raised as part of a family, not a creature bred to be eaten as livestock was.
Without thinking, Tori swooped down and scooped the cat up. It purred in her arms, still not knowing to struggle and escape.
It was too hard to eat it live. Though typically this was preferable, Tori just couldn't go through with it.
Her shaking hands wrapped around the cat’s neck. She squeezed and snapped it in one quick motion. In only seconds she was stuffing the cat down her throat. As it dropped heavily into her stomach, firming the already bloated mound, she gasped to catch her breath, her eyes darting around. She wondered what other animals she could find out here.
-
"The hunger is getting bad." Tori hated asking for things but it had to be said.
Sid paused mid-sip and lowered his coffee. "You're still...hungry? Tori, there were ten piglets in there."
Tori linked her fingers together, eyes focused on the table. Everything was looking appetizing lately, everything organic. She had even managed to catch several rabbits and a few squirrels the previous night, the sensation of being outdoors, of hunting, truly exhilarating.
Yet the hunger seemed to override all her thoughts and feelings. There were bouts where she was ruled by instinct. She didn't like it.
"But it...wasn't enough," Sid concluded, comprehension dawning in his eyes, that and a spark of...excitement? "I'll handle it. I'm sorry. I'll make sure there's enough. More than enough. Tori, you continue to fascinate."
Tori frowned, and Sid backtracked.
"I'm a scientist. It's my nature to observe. But Tori, you're my friend. You know that. You're not a project anymore."
Tori supposed she appreciated the assurance.

Tori was growing. Her body had become weirdly uncomfortable, particularly her chest, which was swollen large and hot, nipples leaking at erratic times. The bra she had donned for the conference was no longer even close to fitting, and it was an E-cup. Sid's shirts didn’t nearly fit Tori either. The material hugged into Tori's torso. Her burgeoning belly was expanding with every meal. The mass had firmed and pushed out, making her look as though she was seven months pregnant.
There was also a skin irritation Tori was dealing with. It was minor but persistent and seemed to be steadily worsening.
She wasn't surprised, as the sore, tender skin was right under her chest. There was obvious friction there, at her ribs. The skin was getting swollen, as though with infection. Tori would continuously remind herself that everything was fine, yet she couldn't escape the painful memories of her being ill and dying. What if the sickness was back somehow? Wilson and Valerie would know what to do. Should she go to them? She didn't want to, but... Was dying worth it to avoid being treated like an object? Had signing up for the whole experiment been a mistake in the first place?
Her options cycled in her head. On top of the conflict, the whole situation was embarrassing. She was swollen with child and had growing, leaking breasts that she couldn’t properly accommodate with clothes. Now there was this skin irritation, or—or infection. One that was only visible when she manually lifted her huge, swollen breasts off of it.
She knew that she had to confide in Sid.
Tori examined herself one evening, balancing the awkwardness of her weight as she slithered up to the bathroom mirror.
The t-shirt she was wearing was practically pasted to her, her belly bulging out beneath. Tori peeled the material away, grimacing at the sight of her bare torso. She drew a deep breath, cradled her breasts with her hands, and gently lifted them to view the skin beneath.
She stared a moment. Blinked.
The flesh looked so peculiar now. And it was constantly changing. The skin beneath her breasts had developed two puffy mounds, and in the center of each was what had started as a rash. A small plate of distinctly pink flesh. And in the center of each of those—the developments were bizarrely symmetrical—was a small lump that grew more distinct and sensitive by the day.
Staring at the area as a whole, she actually looked as though she was developing a second pair of—
But perhaps she shouldn't get ahead of herself. How could she just randomly grow...just, no.
Then again, it wasn't any more unusual than her transformation thus far.
Tori picked up the shirt, frowned at it, and tossed it in the hamper. She slithered back into her room and looked for something that might be more accommodating from the pile of clothes Sid had given her.
She found a white tank top, which had to be the largest item in the pile. Tori pulled it on, but it still hugged into her every curve, her cleavage bulging heavily against the neckline and her belly protruding out beneath the hem.
Tori felt momentarily irritated, but then reminded herself that she should have been grateful to have a place to stay and clothes at all. Sid was doing this all for free. He didn't owe Tori anything. It wasn't Sid's fault that Tori was growing out of control.
-
It indeed was a second pair of breasts.
This grew increasingly evident every day until Tori did one of her regular checks and could only stare at the distinct nipples. Her second pair of nipples. When she lowered her large EE-cups back down and slid her fingers beneath them to feel her smaller, newer breasts, she shivered at the sensitivity, then shook her head and withdrew her hands.
Tori didn't know how having four breasts was consistent with her biology. Snakes didn't have breasts at all. It was more a mammalian thing. Now Tori seemed to just be growing random new features. She groaned and sunk down to sit on her bed. What if the second pair grew as large as the first pair? What if they began to leak? This first pair was a hassle as it was.
Tori's appetite continued to surge. More and more livestock was needed to keep her from getting agitated. And with every meal, she was getting larger. No longer did Sid purchase baby animals, but adolescent ones, even adults sometimes. The emu eggs now barely touched the surface of Tori's appetite. She was amazed by how much she could take in, but also, a little frightened.
Sometimes Tori could feel Sid peering at her, thoughtfully, rather similar to the way Wilson and Valerie would. Everything was on display, after all. Tori's swollen belly was fully visible. By then she was the size a normal pregnant person would be around their due date. But Tori knew she had more growing to do, and as much as she resented her state, and wanted to get through with it, she was also dreading the ordeal of another labor.
Her new pair of breasts—she had started to consider them her under-breasts—were not readily visible and she had not told Sid about their development. The mounds were hidden, squashed beneath the swollen F-cups on her chest, hidden unless she manually lifted the larger mounds off of them. Their position, compressed there, left them sore, hot, and sweaty. Often Tori had to lie back in bed for a reprieve from the discomfort. She would arch her back, hefting her upper breasts up so the lower ones could breathe for a while.
They were growing. That much was evident. Every morning when Tori examined them in the mirror, they seemed a tiny bit plumper. They were putting pressure against her upper breasts, heaving them slightly, making them look even larger, and making the coverage of the tops even worse. The straining fabric was rendered practically a bandeau by then.
Why did it even matter? Tori was half snake. She had mostly slithered around in only a bandeau before any of the breast growth had started.
It was just weird. The scientists at the mansion had examined her regularly and had just known everything. Tori saw Sid as a friend, not one of her doctors.
Well Sid would find out soon enough, at the rate Tori was going. She was feeding more often than ever before, her belly constantly flushed and packed with a recent meal.
"Going out back," Tori mumbled one afternoon, which just meant that she was going to the wooden shed to stuff down a couple of the adolescent pigs there. Her hands absently cradled her belly which was already uncomfortably tight and throbbing from her meal the prior evening.
"Enjoy," said Sid from the kitchen table, not looking up from his paperwork.
Tori slithered out of the house.
It was just routine now.
