Clark walked all night through the dusty streets, knowing that if he stopped to solicit a car or a guide, he might be made as the King and brought back to the palace.
Hours passed that he forced himself along, in alleyways and on the edges of buildings. Benosha was not at all active at night, but Clark still wanted to avoid anyone taking notice of him. This was his one chance.
By the time he reached the ferry station, he was near ready to collapse. With just moments to spare before the boats once-daily departure, Clark hurried onboard. He was allowed through without question. With his bowed head and dark cloaks, no one suspected him of anything.
Clark made himself a seat on the ground against the wall of the lower deck, and he kept to himself as the boat departed, his hood pulled up and his back hunched. It was only a half-hour into the ride that he began to tremble, his stomach assaulted with all-too-familiar hunger pains. Clark picked at some snacks he had been able to pack for himself in his shoulder bag, but it was not much. The egg grew all the same.
He had already had the beginnings of a bump when he had closed in on the ferry station, but now that he had settled down, he could feel himself growing faster, his belly progressively pushing out more from his torso, the pressure increasing as his insides made room for the growing egg.
By afternoon, the ferry was getting close to shore, but Clark was already quite round. He just hoped that no one had noticed how his abdomen had gone from looking like a plump beer belly beneath his cloak to a protruding anomaly. He looked at-term with child by then. Clark just kept his head down. He breathed in quiet pants as he sweat and grew, but tried to remain calm despite that increasing, uncomfortable pressure.
It was just before docking that Clark slowly climbed up, with some difficulty. By then, he looked due with twins maybe overdue with them. He was getting quite big unusually big, which was his main concern. As he stood, some of the passerby looked at him in shock. He looked as though he could pop at any moment.
Clark made sure to avoid eye contact with everyone. The boat docked, and he filtered off with the rest of the crowd, breathing heavily and gripping his lower belly. It wouldnt be long now. But he would have to worry about that later. He was drawing too much attention. He had finally made it to the mainland and it was time to get treatment, then go home. Clark felt a swell of relief, but it was short-lived due to a strange, increasing warmth that occupied his chest.
Clark waddled into a bathroom at the ferry station, and was relieved to see that it was empty. He splashed his face with some cool water, then looked at himself in the mirror. He slid back his cloak, though it could no longer seem to adequately contain him.
His cleavage was sleek with sweat, his breasts near popping out of the stretched tunic he was wearing. They were full D-cups now, and they felt tighter, his nipples aching and painfully erect. Clark gently cupped the lower halves of his breasts, and groaned. He tugged his tunic down, allowing his breasts to protrude over the top of the collar. He groaned as a burning sensation shot through his nipples, before both began to seep milk. So he was lactating. But why was this happening now?
Nnnnngghhhh
! Clarks hands flew down to his belly as it suddenly tightened all around, pushing forward to press the sink. He remained hunched there, panting a few moments longer. Its okay, its okay
he murmured to himself to the egg inside him. He rubbed his hands up and down his belly. He could feel the first hints of labor descending on him, but he fought against it. He just had to wait a little longer. He looked swollen with plump, overdue triplets by then. It was a miracle he hadnt been stopped already. He just had to get a cab. Once he got a car, he would make his escape. He could go to the hospital, the airport he would be well on his way to freedom.
His back was aching, his mound throbbing. Clark did his best to tug his tunic back up over his breasts, but now it was wet, and stretched near transparency. And his breasts seemed to have grown even more, as the shirt could now barely conceal the tops of his areola. Milk continued to seep from him, dampening the fabric. He felt a strange yearning in his chest, though he did not know why, or what had prompted it. Somehow he wanted to just get on the returning boat and go back to the small island, but Clark quickly shook those thoughts aside.
He pulled the cloak back around himself, but it did not do much good. His belly protruded resiliently, parting the material. But he just had to make it through the station. Get a cab. No one could harm him anymore. He was on the mainland now.
With a slow waddle, Clark made his way out of the bathroom, panting with every step of his progress.
There was no hiding now. People were looking at him in concern, confusion, and suspicion. But Clark continued forward, through the door outside, trying his best to ignore as his belly throbbed with strong pulsations, as the pressure escalated, and he knew another growth spurt was coming. It would be a strong one. His backside felt hot and full, his hips bloating, his whole body preparing as his cloak tried and failed to contain him. It was useless. He had to get out of the public eye.
Finally, he was out the door, and beneath the burning sun as people swarmed, hailed cabs, got on buses, and sought out their rides.
Pouring sweat, Clark made his way to the curb. Continuing to hold his stomach with one hand, Clark raised his right arm. Taxi!
Thats when he saw her. Through the chaos of the crowds and the traffic, he saw Fiona, one of his colleagues. She was standing across the street beside a parked car and she was looking around - she was looking for him! The transmission he had sent the prior day must have gone through. Clark was so happy, he could cry. He raised his arm. Fiona-!
Clarks voice was drowned out by a clap of thunder that was so loud, it may have shook the earth. Clarks hand flew down to grip his belly he was not sure why. He teetered slightly, but managed to stay balanced. As he gasped for breath, he, and the crowd, collectively looked at the sky. It had gone dark, purple clouds swirling around within it, and it was utterly
supernatural. Clarks heart pounded as his skin paled. Other people began to recover themselves, and hurry away from the ferry station in fear. Tearing his eyes away from the sky, Clark turned his attention to his colleague. FIONA!
She spotted him, and their eyes made contact for a fleeting instant. But then there was another clap of thunder, accompanied by screams this time. People screaming running. Clark nearly lost his balance as someone shoved past him. He lowered himself to his knees, continuing to grip his belly with both hands hugging what he could of it. His fingers could no longer connect around his navel. He groaned as his belly lurched and pushed out some more. His whole body pulsed and throbbed with heat and growth. Silent tears rolled down Clarks cheeks, though he did not know why.
Something descended from the swirling clouds, erecting more screams as it crashed down to the earth directly in front of Clark. The impact shattered the sidewalk, Clark jerking back in fear.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Fiona begin to approach but did she make him out through the dust and chaos? And if she did, could she comprehend any of it? His condition. This creature. Because Clark, himself, was sure that he had gone insane.
He stared at the creature decorated with sinewy limbs and glittering onyx scales. Though clearly reptilian, it was about the height of a great dane. Clark was utterly astonished, and had to blink hard several times to believe what he was seeing. Razor sharp teeth snapped menacingly at him, and he struggled to his feet tried to back away. But the creature bit onto his cloak, and jerked him roughly. Clark groaned as his belly tightened and his breasts seeped more. Was it possible? Was this really one of his children?
