The appendage continued to grow. Soon it was eight inches, then nine, coming to resemble a...tail.
Sarah groaned through her episodes of tension and growth, the tail pushing out every day. It went from nine inches to ten, and ten to a foot long.
It was slim and hairless, the color of the rest of Sarah's skin. It had an ovoid tip and seemed to twitch slightly from time to time.
Sarah was beginning to realize that the whole thing was covered in nerves. When she glided her fingers over it, each minuscule sensation left her shivering. It was so unusual.
Soon the tail was sixteen inches long. Sarah did her best to hide it from her parents, usually keeping it tucked into her bottoms, which only became awkward when Sarah was wearing shorts. As it got longer, she wrapped it partially around her waist.
In time, the appendage was no longer just twitching, but producing slight movements as well. Sarah craned her neck one morning to watch the tail wiggle somewhat. She could feel it, but she couldn't quite tell whether she was controlling it or not. This was all so new to her.
In another week, the tail had grown to be two feet long.
Sarah was uncomfortable, but she wasn't horrified as she should have been. She just accepted the tail as an inconvenience. Despite her large appetite, she didn't seem to be gaining any weight, and her parents were getting concerned. Meanwhile, the tail continued to grow.
One evening, Sarah was lying back in bed, her tail hovering over her, idly swinging back and forth like a pendulum. It had continued to surge with growth and was presently two and a half feet.
The appendage was so fluid and flexible, it couldn't have contained bone. It was perplexing. As Sarah examined the ovoid tip, she couldn't help but notice that there was a small dimple at the very end. Sarah grabbed hold of the tail, ignoring as it twitched for release. She scrutinized the dimple, then gently glided her thumb over it. "Uunngghhh..." Sarah groaned, the tail slipping from her fingers as her whole body was shocked with sensation. She didn't know whether it was pleasurable or uncomfortable, just that for a fleeting instant, she had lost control of her body entirely.
Catching her breath, Sarah began to suspect that the tail was far more than just a cosmetic feature. She rolled onto her stomach and became lost in thought as the tail continued to waver over her where it protruded over the waistband of her shorts.
Much as the development roused her curiosity, Sarah couldn't help the feeling that something unusual was to be expected. She knew that she should have had some sort of reaction, but still, she was unconcerned. She knew that this was all just part of a plan and that she would be safe.
The next morning when Sarah awoke, both her parents had already left for work. Sarah had settled in, and her parents finally felt comfortable leaving her by herself again. Sarah walked into the kitchen, her tail freely protruding out over the waistband of the back of her skirt. It waved slightly as Sarah walked. As far as Sarah could tell, it was harmless. It certainly wasnt the worst thing that could have happened to her.

There were some scrambled eggs, bread, and butter left out on the kitchen table, along with a fruit bowl with some plums. Not nearly as elaborate as the breakfast that had been waiting for Sarah on her first morning home, but she supposed that she couldnt complain. As Sarah picked up the two slices of bread set out for her, and walked over to the toaster above the stove, she felt her tail sway a little more powerfully. Just as she opened the toaster, her eyes widened at the strange sensation at the ovoid tip of her tail.
Sarah turned her head just in time to see the dimple at the tip of her tail suddenly open up like a small mouth. It widened more, reminding Sarah of a snakes jaw, before it clapped down on one of the plums in the fruit bowl, where it proceeded to suck it down.
Nrrgghhh Sarah grunted, rather stunned by the sensation of the plum entering her tail. Sarah could do little more than deeply breathe, and sweat, as the plum slowly shifted down the length of the tail, bulging visibly as it squeezed its way through. She could see and feel the lump inching closer and closer to her body, until it stopped at Sarahs tailbone, and then proceeded. Ohhhhh Sarah groaned, arching her back as the plum went inside of her. She felt it emerge in her stomach, and felt a sudden tightness there. Sarah cupped a slight bulge that had appeared on her thin abdomen, where the plum sat, completely whole. She dropped the bread that had been squeezed to crumbs in her hand. She had decidedly lost her appetite.
Sarah held her stomach, gasping for breath, completely stunned by what had transpired. She looked up at the sound of the gallon-tub of butter shifting on the table. The tail managed to push it over the edge, causing the top to pop off as the container impacted with the floor. The tip of the tail then dove in, the dimple not widening this time. It simply seemed to be sucking the butter up.
Sarah grabbed hold of her tail, but it was so sensitive, she immediately let it go. That, and the sensation of the butter pumping into her body left her rather disoriented. The butter was soft and smooth, and quicker to enter her. Sarah realized that she had to get away from the table. But by the time she did, all of the butter was gone.
Sarah leaned her elbows on the kitchen counter, breathing heavily as her tail waved and wiggled, again trying to reach for the plums. It was a few inches too short to reach the table. Holding onto the wall, Sarah made her way out of the kitchen, feeling a little sick to her stomach. What was that? was all she could wonder, befuddled by this new development. It was like her tail had a little mouth or something.
Sarah sat down on her bed, and the tail simply swayed. She craned her neck to examine the ovoid tip. There was no sign of lips or teeth or anything like that. Just the same small dimple that had opened up wide enough to consume a whole plum, and had produced enough suction to suck in a tub of butter in only seconds.
Sarah could actually feel the food inside of her. It was like she had eaten it herself. This left her a little queasy, especially as she belched, and could taste the butter in the back of her throat. She deeply breathed. Things had certainly changed.
Over the next few days, Sarah did her best to control the tail. It was difficult, and took a lot of focus, but for periods of time, she could keep it in place.
Despite this, Sarah tried to avoid the kitchen as much as she could. She didnt have much of an appetite anymore anyway. She had realized that the more she ate, the more the tail seemed to grow. The more it grew, the more mischief it made.
Her parents continued to be concerned about her skinny frame. There was talk of hiring a nutritionist, but Sarah insisted that she was fine.
One evening, Sarah sat down on her bed in a tank top and some sweatpants, her tail protruding freely between her clothes. It was only seven, but Sarah had been feeling fatigued lately. Swinging her legs up, Sarah laid down on her side. In her sleep, she absently rolled onto her stomach.
Despite Sarah being unconscious, the tail continued to move. It idly swayed to and fro in the air, a good three feet long by then. Something scuttled across the floor, and the tail dove down, quickly sucking up a spider, as it often did in Sarahs sleep. A plump mouse scurried about under the bed, then settled on chewing on one of Sarahs old, forgotten sweatshirts. The tail slowly, carefully, crept towards it. It wasnt quite long enough to reach the mouse, but the tail forcefully stretched, Sarah grunting in her sleep as the tail lengthened by an inch or so on its own. The dimple spread wide as a gaping opening formed, before the tail slammed down on the mouse, gulping it whole.
Nrrrghhhh Sarah grunted again as the wriggling creature was forcefully shoved along the tails length and towards her body, before reaching the base of her spine. The mass trembled and lurched, before popping whole into Sarahs stomach.
The teen in question gasped awake, sitting up and holding her abdomen at the uncomfortable tightness that had blossomed there. She looked around in a panic, but her tail was lying still across the mattress alongside her legs. All was still in the room. Maybe shed just had a bad dream. Sarah absently rubbed her abdomen. It was somewhat distended, though she didnt know why. She wiped some sweat off of her brow before heaving a sigh, lying back down, and closing her eyes.
