Panting, Cona made her way back to her bed. She sat there, slightly hunched, hugging her abdomen for a while. She felt a weird compulsion to start eating, though it didnt make any sense at all.
Cona slowly looked back down at her navel. Her belly had softened again, though her belly button was still protruding. Feeling mortified, Cona tugged down her gown. But her belly button was large and continued to evidently protrude against the stretched fabric.
It was obvious. And it looked so weird. This couldnt be normal, could it? It was the sort of thing that happened to pregnant women in their third term.
Cona slid her hand along the mound. The lurching was gone. In fact, there was no sign of it. She continued to absently rub her belly as she took deep breaths. What was going on with her?
There was a ringing. Cona glanced at her cell phone on the night stand. She lifted it up and frowned at the sight of her landlords name on the caller ID. Pressing the Ignore button, Cona replaced the phone on the table.
As she got ready for work, there were no more incidents. She had to struggle with her dress pants for a while, and she had to stretch her blouse against herself more tightly than ever before. Otherwise, her routine proceeded like normal.
As Cona was fixing her collar, her cell phone started ringing. Thinking it was Misty again, Cona almost ignored it. But as she glanced at her Caller ID, her eyes widened. Cona lifted the phone from her nightstand, her thumb hoovering over the Accept button.
It was Simon, her ex. Cona wanted to answer it so badly. But a glance down at herself made her reconsider. She was so out of shape, Simon would laugh.
Feeling depressed, Cona lowered the phone. She walked into the kitchen, pulled out a pot, and started throwing things together, almost mechanically. Though eating at that moment seemed counterproductive, she suddenly needed to.
Cona turned on the fire and filled the pot with two inches of oil. She mixed in a dozen eggs, a block of cheddar, and a package of bacon. She cooked it all together into a giant, horrible, blob, before pouring it out onto a serving platter, producing a small mountain of food.
Grabbing a loaf of bread to go with it, Cona sat down at the kitchen table and chomped away. She tried to think of the taste of the oily bacon sliding down her throat, and not how awkward her body felt or how fat she was getting. She tried not to think about her depression and loneliness since the start of her rapid weight gain. Or the subtle sensations of her stomach getting tighter, even as she sat there, filling it with fat.
If Cona tried to stop eating, even for a minute, she felt nothing but anxiety at the sight of the uneaten food before her. She had to eat it all. Every drop. She was not satisfied until every bite of it made its way into her belly.
Cona covered her mouth as she released a small belch. She leaned back in her seat, her rounded belly resting against her lap. She caught her breath for a while, absently staring at how large she was getting. Finally, Cona climbed to her feet. She wasnt achieving anything by sitting there, feeling sorry for herself. She grabbed her briefcase and headed for the door.
But just as Cona was about to leave her house, her stomach heaved, and her face went pale. Dropping her briefcase, Cona covered her mouth and ran to her bathroom. She missed the toilet, and ended up throwing up on the bathroom floor.
Eugh, Cona groaned as she wiped her mouth. She held her head and looked away from her vomit, oblivious of the grainy beige particles moving around within it.
There was a knock on the front door. Taking a deep breath, Cona somehow managed to straighten herself. Holding her seven-month-pregnant-looking belly, Cona trudged back into the living room and opened the door. Zoe?
Thank god youre up, said Zoe as she let herself inside. I messed up, mam. I really fucked up. I accidentally deleted the Richards account.
What? said Cona, her nausea suddenly forgotten. What do you mean? Show me what you have!
The two went to the couch where Zoe set her laptop up on the coffee table. It hasnt been coming up. I was working on it last night and I dont know what happened. I have a meeting with Richards at eight, and I cant even pull up his file. I was just trying to input the
There was a knock on the front door. More like an urgent pounding. Zoe and Cona exchanged quizzical looks.
Did you tell anyone else from the office to meet us here? said Cona.
No mam.
It was barely 5AM.
Clutching her belly, Cona heaved herself off the couch. She walked to the door and opened it before scowling at who she saw. Misty, Cona breathed in exasperation. Im sort of busy right now. Why her? Why this morning?
I knew I could catch you if I came early enough, said Misty as she nervously twiddled this thumbs. She looked thin and anxious, and always seemed somewhat disheveled. Mistys eyes flickered downwards, to Conas belly, then up again. We really need to talk. She adjusted her spectacles.
Reddening somewhat, Cona self-consciously folded her arms against her abdomen. I keep the place clean. I pay my rent on time. What I dont understand is why youre always bothering me.
If you would just let me explain
Cona stepped outside and closed the door behind her. Im beginning to think that moving in here was a mistake. Im going to have to ask you one more time to leave me alone, otherwise Im just going to give notice
There was a scream coming from inside the apartment. Blinking, Cona turned back to the door.
Cona, wait Misty warned.
Cona opened the door and stared in shock at the scene before her.
Zoes laptop had tumbled to the ground, the screen cracked and some keys scattered around it. Zoe herself was sprawled on the ground, covered in what looked to be slugs. But not like any of the ones Cona had ever seen. They were large and fat, with plump beige bodies, and they appeared to be squirming over to Zoe from the direction of the bathroom. The slugs were slimythe size of tennis balls at their greatest widths, and each about six inches long. Presently they were covering Zoe who was writhing on the ground. At first, Cona wasnt sure what they were doing to her, before she saw one of the slugs work its way into Zoes mouth, the young accountant choking on it.
Zoe! Cona started forward, but Misty grabbed hold of her arms behind her back. Cona struggled, but Misty just gripped onto her tighter, threatening to dislodge her shoulders from their sockets.
Cona was helpless but to watch as slugs forced their fat bodies down Zoes throat. Other slugs were working their way up Zoes leg and into her skirt, and it was only at hearing Zoe wail that Cona realized what was happening. Zoe struggled and squirmed, but it seemed impossible to get the creatures off of her.
Zoes belly was expanding, her blouse becoming taut against her. There was a snapping noise, and Cona watched Zoes belt split apart. Cona stared as Zoes belly continued to swell in growth, diamonds of skin forming between the young accountants buttons. She was getting larger by the moment, her belly taut, and she looked as though she was six months pregnant by then. Zoe somehow managed to make her way up to her feet, and staggered forward, reaching out to Cona and Misty, as though pleading for assistance. Cona was so stunned, she could do little more than gawk at her. She watched Zoes belly swell in pulses as more of the slugs forced their way inside.
Zoe dropped to her knees, seeming overwhelmed by her increasing size. Oh god oh god oh mmmmffffghhh Another slug entered her mouth. She came to look seven months eight months nine months pregnant. Finally, her stretched shirt tore open, her belly surging forward.
Zoes belly wiggled as she struggled against the creatures entering her from both ends. The mound was shiny and sleek from perspiration. Her body was flushed, her face red reddening as every slug present forced their way into her body. Cona watched her employee blow up before her eyes, and somehow it was entirely arousing.
Cona could feel her groin tingling, her lips seeping into her panties. In some, subliminal way, Cona was rooting for the slugs, and she didnt know why. Soon Zoes belly was pressing the ground. She was red, wheezing, and looked like she might pop! Only after every last slug forced their way into Zoes heaving body, did her torture cease. Zoe collapsed to her back, unconscious.
Cona stared as Zoes belly pulsated, Zoe releasing quiet groans as it did. Her belly button was bulging out like a pregnant womans, large, and bloated, and strange. Cona could have sworn she saw it twitch, but perhaps she was imagining it. Slowly, Conas eyes shifted down to her own protruding belly button.
Cona felt her arms being released. She turned to her landlord in shock.
We really do need to talk, said Misty nervously.
