The comment about everyone microdosing birth control is actually true: most water treatment plants struggle to remove drugs since they're present in small amounts. Not only birth control but recreational drugs like cocaine. It's still not clear if that has any impact on human health though. I heard that it increases the proportion of female frogs near dense urban areas, but it clearly hasn't increased the proportion of human girls. My takeaway is that we should invest in better water treatment that can remove pharmaceuticals, as a precaution.
