Strong body
🕑 Added 2021-11-23 15:07:05 +0000 UTCThis period of my life, in which I’m putting all my energies into mental activities, I’m deeply thinking over the role of my body in my identity. Now that I spend days forgetting I even have a body, now that I’m not giving it all the love and attention it deserves, I feel that some part of me is being neglected. Quite hard to say it in English 🙈, but basically keeping on separating the parts of me that reside in my mind, from the me represented by my body, feels like being broken into pieces. Feels wrong and non-functional. Still, I stand strong in front of the mirror. Despite the frenetic routine, despite the disconnection with my needs, despite the lack of sleep, despite the stress, my body resists, efficient and beautiful. For a girl that has always been somehow sick, this is quite a satisfying acknowledgment. I’m not that weak then.
We all should thank our bodies more, for resisting through the crazy lives we choose.

In questo periodo della mia vita, in cui sto consumando tutte le energie attraverso attività mentali, sono portata a riflettere sul ruolo del mio corpo nel definire la mia identità. Passo giorni trascurando i bisogni del mio corpo, negandogli le attenzioni che merita, e a volte persino mi dimentico di averlo. Ma il corpo è qualcosa che ho o che sono? Perché io vivendo così inizio a non sentirmi più completa; sento di star trascurando una parte di me. Mi chiedo per quanto potrò separare ciò che sono nella mia mente da ciò che sono nella carne, io che nel corpo non sono mai stata davvero sana. Nonostante i ritmi frenetici, nonostante lo scarso riposo, nonostante lo stress e contro ogni mia aspettativa, il mio corpo si mostra forte e bello più che mai allo specchio. Ora che mi aspetto di crollare da un momento all’altro, sono sostenuta più che mai da quella parte di me che ho sempre considerato imperfetta, debole, suscettibile. Questa presa di coscienza mi sorprende, e mi da sollievo. Sono più forte di quanto non creda. Probabilmente tutti lo siamo.
Dovremmo essere più spesso riconoscenti ai nostri corpi che ci supportano nelle nostre vite folli.
