The current updater has an issue if you have unpacked one of the included var files, which is most likely the issue you are experiencing here. You can resolve this my going into your AddonPackages folder inside the VaM install, and moving the DJ.TanLines.1.var folder to another name or delete it if you had not made any local changes after unpacking. This will allow the updater to continue.

Yeah once you have it installed on one computer through the updater you could zip up the whole directory and transfer to another computer.

I can't download it. Install fails after trying to download "DJ.TanLines.1.var" and after retrying multiple times, the download freezes. This is a new install, btw.

The updater is currently the only way to download. The full download is over 16GB.

Is there a way to download this over my phone? It's significantly faster than the hotspot on my phone, as my service throttles hotspot usage

The updater doesn't overwrite anything you had, so I would double check to make sure you installed in the same folder. You may now have a 2nd copy of VaM, possibly in the subfolder of another. The updater only overwrites official files.

I just updated to the last version. Everything I had, it's gone. EVERYTHING! Is there a way to get it back? I don't see a point in starting all over with everything I worked on. I'd be out.

100% - there's a reason why CVE lists nearly always contain affected versions etc. this is a fix release, it's important for people to know specific vulnerabilities are addressed.

I will say announcing security fixes is more important than just updates.

If I don't announce security fixes, users might not update or realize there could be a security issue. I did not announce specifics to prevent malicious users from taking advantage of anything. And this release is a relaxation of a broad restriction that I put in place that restricted something that was not a security issue but prevented specific types of plugins from working.
