The Boy Who Laughed
Tormented by the murder of his parents and raised in a household that only fed the darkness he harboured, one with such an already tainted soul could only be salvaged so far, if at all.
If only the new world he found himself in could be so kind, perhaps the boy would not wish such suffering on those whom he considered his enemies.
This is not a meek Harry Potter looking for acceptance, but a boy shaped and jaded by his experience seeking only an opportunity for vengeance.
He remembered his mother’s pleading and would never forget that he was left to suffer a life of misery.
Those responsible would reap what they had sown.
Tom Riddle may have struck fear into the heart of wizarding Britain, but Harry Potter would devour it if necessary to bathe in the blood of those who had wronged him.
Important notes about this story.
- It will be a Dark Harry who is willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goals.
- It will follow canon events until it no longer does.
- Both Voldemort and Dumbledore will be antagonists.
- Pairing is undecided, but there will be romantic aspects throughout.
- The Horcrux will influence Harry, but it won’t be Voldemort as such, more so that it amplifies certain qualities about him.
- It is loosely based on ‘The Batman Who Laughs’. For those of you unfamiliar, a quick Youtube shorts will explain all you need to know, particularly how the Horcrux will affect Harry.
- The Horcruxes will be a key part of the story and Harry’s character progression. (No, he will not be absorbing them).
- This is something of a prequel to my planned Multi-verse story with several already-established iterations of Harry I have already written.
Dead Memories
“If we die, James, what will happen to Harry?”
“He will be raised by Sirius. He is his Godfather.”
“And what if the worst happens to him?”
James said nothing for several moments as a frown creased his brow.
“I don’t know,” he murmured worriedly. “What then?”
Lily did not know either, but it was a thought that continued to plague her.
Voldemort would inevitably come for her son, and would do so until he killed Harry, or somehow, Harry vanquished him.
The prophecy had been clear on that.
For months now, they had lived in isolation, and all she could ponder was the very worst coming to pass.
Voldemort seemed to always find a way to be rid of those that provoked his ire, and with Harry being such an apparent threat, he would do everything in his power to kill their son.
Lily swallowed deeply.
She had spent month after month contemplating what to do, and though she hoped beyond hope they could keep harry safe, she was not foolish enough to underestimate the Dark Lord.
She had fought against the man, had seen what he was capable of, and if there was indeed a way for him to find them, the man would do so.
“I don’t know,” Lily choked.
James wrapped an arm around her shoulder and held her tightly to him.
“We have to do something, James. If we cannot be there for him as we should be…”
She broke off and her husband frowned once more.
“I have an idea,” he said thoughtfully. “Perhaps it is something we should’ve been doing since we came here.”
“What is it?” Lily asked curiously.
James said nothing but went upstairs.
When he returned several moments later, he was holding a pensive with dozens of empty phials.
“If the worst comes to the worst and we are not here for him as we wish to be, we can still be there for him in memory.”
Lily’s eyes widened in realisation and she nodded her agreement before deflating.
“It won’t be the same, James.”
“No, but it will be something,” her husband said passionately. “It won’t be the same, but we can still be here for him. Besides, if all goes to plan, this will all be for nothing and it won’t matter. Think of it as a plan D.”
Lily eyed the pensive for a moment before nodding once more.
“Where do we even begin?” she asked.
- Things will be different for Harry upon entering Gringotts, and the story will move away from canon over time.
- Harry will be influenced by the presence of both James and Lily Potter in their own ways, but he will become his own person, shaped by his experiences.
- The Pairing for this story will be an eventual Harry/Katie Bell (No, I will not kill her this time)
Godfather (Rated M)
Having blown up his Aunt Marge, Harry flees Privet Drive.
Believing himself to now be a fugitive, he does not know what he will do, until he runs into a large, shaggy, who is much more than he seems…
- Instead of going to The Leaky Cauldron, Harry heads to Grimmauld Place with Sirius, who is bent on revenge, but realises that Harry needs him more than he could’ve imagined.
- This will develop into quite an epic story which will see Harry learn valuable lessons from his Godfather, whom he chooses to stay with instead of returning to Hogwarts… for the beginning portion of the story.
- Harry will be heavily influenced by Sirius in many ways, but his time in Grimmauld Place will see him learn much that he would never be given the opportunity to at Hogwarts, changing him in many ways.
- The pairing for this will be an eventual Harry/Hannah Abbot, something we do not see often in Fanfiction.
- Her character will be explored in depth, and she will have her own journey throughout.
- Will fit canon events where required but will inevitably deviate away from it.
The Wayfarer
As Lily Evans pleads for the life of her son, she watches as the Dark Lord raises his wand to seal her destiny, but it seems that Fate has other ideas…
With her husband dead, and no idea of whom her saviour is, the war outside continues on, a war that is seemingly impossible to win.
Despite the setback, the Dark Lord still seems undefeatable, and it is only a matter of time before he makes another on her son…
Not knowing who she can trust, she begins looking for the stranger who saved them, but the identity of the young man will change her life in ways she could never imagine…
- This will be a post OOTP fic, so Harry will be around 16 when it starts
- Pairing is undecided for now, but there will be lots of possibilities as the story progresses
- This is a scenario of what could’ve been had Voldemort failed to kill Lily yet lived for the first war to continue.
- It will be a Dark Fic in places, and Voldemort will be considerably more dangerous than in canon
- Lots of fun characters to explore here, and Harry will interact with many of them.
Intertwined (Rated M) HP/ASOIAF
Ostracised and lonely, Harry Potter could not believe his life could get any more complicated, but as he was standing by the lake, lamenting on simpler times when only a Dark Lord wanted him dead, he is interrupted by the arrival of a silver-haired girl with three baby dragons about her person…
“Bloody hell, you’re naked!” he said, averting his gaze as best he could.
The sooty girl stood unashamedly and stared around in confusion.
“Where am I?” she asked.
“At Hogwarts.”
“Hogwarts?”
“You’ve never heard of it?” Harry asked with a frown.
The girl shook her head, and Harry removed his jacket before placing it over her trembling form.
“It’s cold here,” she murmured. “We’re not in Essos, are we?”
“Essos?”
The girl looked up at Harry, and she frowned.
“Are you Westerosi?”
“I don’t even know what that is.”
Both seemed to be as confused as one another, and Harry took the initiative, though he was careful to avoid provoking the ire of the dragons.
He’d seen what Norbert had been capable of, and he idly wondered what the dragon was up to.
“I’m Harry,” he introduced himself. "Harry Potter."
“Daenerys Targaryen,” the girl replied.
Harry ignored the odd name and looked warily around them.
“It will be bad if you’re found here, especially with three dragons. Come, I have somewhere we can go where you will not be found until we can figure out what is happening.”
“Are you going to kill me, Harry Potter? Is Joffrey your king?”
“I have no idea who Joffrey is,” Harry sighed, “but no, I will not kill you. I give you my word.”
Removing his cloak and the Marauder’s Map, he checked to ensure their path would be clear.
“Here, you will not be seen under this.”
Daenerys shuddered once more as the cloak was placed over them.
“Magic,” she whispered.
Harry nodded and pressed a finger to his lips before leading them towards the castle, unsure on what he would do with a wayward girl no older than him and three dragons.
- This story will begin the night Harry’s name comes from the Goblet of Fire and will follow events until both his and Daenerys’s stories are complete, so yes, it will eventually be Harry in Westeros.
- It will be a Harry/Daenerys pairing.
- I will not give anything else away as it will spoil the story, but it will be an epic adventure with both Harry and Daenerys changing in some ways but retaining the essence of what they should be.
For those of you unfamiliar with the ASOIAF Universe, you needn’t worry.
Everything you need to know will be explained on the way.

Not saying I'm disappointed with the picks, but I was much more excited about the runaway Bella with Delphini story with Avalon being the runner-up. Would have loved to see it included with the others and equally disappointed to see Wayfarer not getting the love I expected. I believe I'll be suspending my sub until next poll.

For sure, I have been here from the beginning, before he even went to Patreon, and I ony once voted for story that won buuutt all of them were HP stories, I dont enjoj GOT universe and I dont want to read about it when Im paying for it. Yeah GoT...it's an acquired taste for me honestly and not as much fan of intertwining it with Harry Potter so much because I would rather the image of the series I literally grew up not be tainted by Thrones and that world. Not so much a fan of Thrones to be honest nor of the author...watched the show primarily for the medieval era setting at first because I kinda like that whole dragons, knights and fantasy setting and all...til got tired of some stuff they had in it and the constant politics.

Very late to the poll and it seems like I am in the absolute minority having selected The Wayfarer (just wanted to read a well written story where Harry still has a parent). Next choice would have been Dead memories but honestly I will be happy with any fic other than the Dark Harry one (cunning even very grey Harry yes, but outright dark Harry not my thing).

Respect everyone’s choice but was really hoping for the boy who laughs; it promised to be a real change of pace. Kind of looked forward to seeing Lee’s take on a dark MC. Outside of the pairing godfather really does look interesting but man hufflepuffs are just so boring lol. Tonks doesn’t count and the only thing interesting about Susan Bones is her aunt. Harry raised by his godfather does sound cool though. After sitting on it a couple of days Wayfarer looks really cool to. Kind of want to read them all actually. Still really want to read a Harry/Andromeda fic to though. Both to complete the set and to see if theirs a universe out there where Harry is Tonks’s dad.

as much as I respect people choices and voted for Godfather (altho I wouldn't mind Boy Who Laughs, just because it promises to be prequel to multiverse thing and I feel it will be awesome , multiverse not story itself) I really dont want to read crossover with GoT and I will be pulling away from here. I just hope Baron will have an option of contacting past patreons when he gets back to writing HP stories.

Dead Memories, absolutely love the idea, but my love of a Katie Bell pairing died with her. Yes, it is your fault. The Boy Who Laughs, is a very intriguing idea that I believe you would write incredibly well.

I'd love to see how you write a Harry being sent to Westeros and he builds something for himself or a being reborn into a Westeros House and then going from there, as I believe you can balance it better than most other stories who attempt to do the same.

I'm going to go with godfather as it seems the most interesting from a pure harry potter standpoint, but I will say intertwined is my favorite of the list so far. Only issue I have is cross overs are really hit and miss. But the premise looks promising. I will have to read the The Sword of the Winter Rose now xD.

I was really hoping that the boy who laughed would be chosen. I love all of the barons stories but that’s the first time he would branch out from the formula of good guy Harry. I was excited to see what he would do with a completely new angle to come from. I still hope it gets chosen, pairings don’t really matter to me in the end, but the baron putting his effort into a new style of story and writing is interesting by itself

So I voted the crossover because personally it’s my favorite option. With that said Lee if you see this maybe write the second place option after TSOTWR is completed if Intertwined wins so the people who didn’t want the crossover to be the main fic still get something even if it’s not twice a week. Obviously you can’t please everyone by writing every option but If your not averse to having two stories going at once like you have now, intertwined could be the twice a week main story and whatever fic comes in second can be the side story after TSOTWR.

Hmm, honestly I was kind of hoping for the Delphini fic that lost to Avalon last time. Stuck between Godfather and Intertwined. Seeing Dany show up at Hogwarts with her dragons could be very interesting, and I do enjoy ASOIAF/HP crossovers. I am always interested in Sirius raises Harry stories, but usually am let down. Have a little more faith in you than most authors though.

I dunno intertwined looks cool, but I like the idea of Harry with a not well known pairing of Harry with Hannah since usually if Harry is with any hufflepuff is usually either Tonks or Susan so this would be nice. Plus...not gonna lie I always enjoy fics where Sirius raises Harry as his own too, SIrius is one of my fav characters so is always nice to see him delved more into than what we got in canon too. So yeah Godfather would be best and hopefully we get, but guess time will tell....would be cool if we could get both somehow especially since we we already have a A Song of Ice & Fire fic already..

I was hoping for something lighter, not fluff or crack but something away from the usual war epic or fight for survival. The Boy who laughed definitely doesn't sound like what I'm looking for. Intertwined sounds like it's going to be a very long story if it has to go through Harry's remaining years then hop back over to Westeros to sort that out. I settled on Godfather because at least Harry will get to know Sirius a lot better and the pairing clenched it for me, it's a very rare pairing and I want to see how you develop it.

My Top 5: 1. Godfather - This is my favourite from the author's choices. It has my 2 favourite characters taking the lead, in Harry and Sirius, and i think it will be kinda fun to read Harry getting his education from an escaped convict with a disgruntled elf along with a banshee of a portrait. Also, i like the pairing, something new and gives a chance to explore a different character most of us don't know. 2. Dead Memories - Always love when the author writes James and Lily and so seeing them as memories as they guide Harry through his Hogwarts will be brilliant to read. The only thing that kinda irks me is the repeat pairing, although there's potential of Katie being written better and differently. 3. The Wayfarer - This is actually a really cool concept, but i don't like the fact that it starts post OOTP. There so much potential to explore with the first war still continuing and explore the effect it has on wizarding Britain, along with Harry growing up with a mother??? Also, who's this stranger? Feel like the author could amend this and start the story as soon as when Lily is saved. 4. Intertwined - Now, don't get me wrong, I really like the ASOIF universe and it would be interesting to see how the mother of dragons effects the HP universe. However, this story is basically a 2 in 1 and so I feel the story will either be too fast paced or extremmeeelly long. We've seen the author taking care with his current ASOIF story and I'm unsure, when Harry & Daenerys go to the ASOIF world, how this will impact his story. Also, i always felt having magic is very OP in ASOIF and so i feel like Harry will almost be a cheat code, especially when facing the Night Walkers (cough cough fiendfyre, runes & etc). The only potential struggle i see is a potential match up with the Drowned God wannabee. 5. The Boy Who Laughed - Reading a long dark fic of Harry becoming evil is not something that I'm really up for. While it's different and it links back to your larger universe, I genuinely feel it would be better to be told in snippets in another story when this 'Evil Harry' is finally confronted. Also, the author will end up leaning into serious trope territory, e.g. bashing of characters, which for me is outdated in big 2024 now going into 2025.

All very interesting choices! I will always be partial to HP/ASOIAF crossovers, and having Dany in HP-world and then eventually shifting to Westeros definitely has my interest, as almost all fics like that just dump Harry in Westeros right off the bat. I hope "Intertwined" wins! The Dark Harry one sounds interesting as well. I really like the idea of "Dead Memories," but backed off at the mention of Katie Bell. There are just so many interesting girls to pair him with, and I've never found those two together to be interesting. No matter what's ultimately chosen, I'll be along for the ride.
