'Perhaps Xi Kong had been arrogant, but he had never met a Spirit Beast willing to sit down and talk. Those that could speak either just raged… or were horribly arrogant creatures sounding remarkably like some of the Young Masters Xi Kong knew. They were full of entitled arrogance. They thought the destruction they wrought was not just good, but right.' Would replacing an instance of arrogant with presumption or 'entitled arrogance' with 'obnxious entitlement'? Just to lean less heavily on Arrogant in one paragraph?

Jan Alexander

Oh Tao the Traveler wrote it. Haha

Jan Alexander

I like reading the historical passage. I wonder who is writing it.

paul Emmer

Even before the author died I feel as though it was being drug out. it was no longer just the telling of a story but prolong job security just my opinion though I truly enjoyed the series This seems to be even more enjoyable and I have high hopes for the the Journey casual farmer is taking us on

paul Emmer

I would agree and believe she and her brother will return to fa ram and help with that along with rags and loud boy then after some training some will help with the trip south and others will assist with deciphering the past and some will assist in other ways This could end up being a long delightful journey; like the wheel of time series ; but better written and played out

Jeb the Pleb

Man I need a chapter from gou or Xianghua perspectives bit of a bummer that they officially got together of screen

Casualfarmer

that was the intention. to copy old historical texts way of writing that part.

Flover

Sorry for your loss.

Skipps

This may just be my Christian upbringing, but Tao the Travelers tale with the feast and the rebuilding reminds me of "The Feeding of the Multitude". Though that could just be a Prose thing.

Carl Mason

Actually that first comma should just be removed. It is a continuous thought and the following clause is a parenthetical.

BZD

I definitely needed this. My grandfather passed away this morning and this has helped lift my spirits.

Mackoy

Well that was so wholesome. Thx for the chapter, Fat Big D (Fa Bi De) is so chad

MountHermon

This seems apropos... https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/sjle86/rooster_shows_hawk_who_is_boss/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Birb

Xiulan daddy talking mad shit about gou ren when he doesn't know gou ren is jin's bro. Gonna end up as a shocker.

Matt DiMeo

"Tigu had volunteered to come with her, when she had told the girl of her intentions, it had heightened her legitimacy." - one of these commas should be a semicolon, but I'm not sure which way it should read.

Gygax Fan

"The looks and words she had received even at twelve had been appalling. Xi Kong had slain one man over it, a man who he thought was a friend." Yo this is probably my favorite bit of character development/backstory. Dude is emotionally damaged by cultivation ideology but still protects his daughter as best he can and has the appropriate level of acceptance for someone lusting after a 12 year old. Damn good writing thanks for the chapter

Lavagolem

Really liked the chapter. I‘m rooting for Meiling/Xiulan/Jin. There are so many moments in the story between them that I love, with Xiulan‘s Go board tease, how they confide in each other and how Meimei send off Xiulan before the tournament to name just a few. If it doesn’t happen, I hope that we at least see the relationship develop with Xiulan and her partner instead of the background development like with Yun Ren and owl girl. Would be kinda jarring for me when Xiulan would go from blushing around Meiling and Jin to suddenly in a relationship with someone.

Ryan Clark

Absolutely lovely chapter I appreciate your hard work.

BlueMage_VT

And there goes all of Xiulan's grace and composure lol

NoAriGuy

Honestly, i think this was one of my favourite chapters 🥰

jj

forced to insure -> forced to ensure defect noir blemish -> defect nor blemish

mindsystem

My theory is that they get their inborn knowledge from the spirit of the land wherever they are. And also some instinctual/heritage stuff, like the blaze bears all knowing where their "home/sacred ground" is.

Umut Numanoglu

> From the Demon Slaying Orchid sprung forty thirty two I believe there is a typo there. Btw how do I join editing squad?

Monadologist

I think the sworn brother thing came about when Jin confided in her about his background.

faeriehunter

Am I correct in thinking that while Xiulan's father had Jin in mind during the talk/teasing about marriage, Xiulan herself was thinking of Gou Ren instead? Because as far as I can recall only Gou Ren is Xiulan's "sworn brother", not Jin. If Xiulan subconsciously connects Gou Ren to her marrying, then it looks like she's in denial about her feelings for him.

STORRM

refined well, a fine spirt for the soul.

Demian Buckle

Thank you for the Chapter.

RJKY

"Tao" is another spelling of "Dao".

RedFaux

Tao the Traveller shall legendary one day. Just you wait.

paul Emmer

It seems to me that the seeds of change have been planted for a slow return to the harmony that existed before the breaking that happened ages ago I hope CF can tell his story and avoid burn out; this is such a delightful adventure we are taking

Will Iam

Love the chapter. Just a thought but maybe there can be a chapter where Jin teaches math to chiyou and xiulan maybe even double bookkeeping, this would also give him bit more of prestige and it can be from something as simple as a paper order and them noting that he uses strange notations.

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter!! Loved it!! And I like the dynamic of us she going go be with Jin or not XD

Jeff Petkau

> It’d probably just be filed away like all the others, never seeing the light of day again. Hey, is that Chekov's gun on the wall there? After all that resolution, it's fun to see new problems being set up. > been forced to insure should be "ensure", unless he's being forced to buy an insurance policy. > [spirit beasts] that could speak either just raged… or were horribly arrogant creatures sounding remarkably like some of the Young Masters Xi Kong knew. Sounds a lot like Tigu at first. Theory: reincarnation is a thing in Xianada, and spirit beasts are reincarnated cultivators who went down a notch on the wheel because they were dickish young masters and mistresses. That's why they all talk that way at first, and know things (like Tigu's insult in V2C3, "A little blade of grass, grasping desperately for the heavens she can never reach", which apparently Xiulan had heard before) that they shouldn't know. Theory 2: if we have reincarnation, maybe Jin isn't randomly shoved into Rou's body. He's a past life of Rou, so they actually are the same person. (This was actually my theory for the story Qi=MC^2, but maybe it works here too.)

S10NN4CH

I see lanlan's dad is also a man of culture.

Heidao

Papa Kong teasing, or is he, that's for him and author to know. She blushed and was flustered, there's a chance Shame that the secret of the vault was already leaked, and just when the elders gave Bao Wen so much... shame, line extinguishing for him if they find out.

N0ct3m

^.^

Oskatat

I can see how this chapter would have been troublesome to write

ShadeByTheSea

I enjoyed Xiulan and her father's interactions.

Kasinki

Loving it. Thank you for the chap!

Bruno Vieira

Thanks for the chapter

Luke Preston

thank you for the chapter

taukid

Right? He was all excited to share this crazy story and everyone thinks he's making it up.

Nick

Thanks for the chapter

Scipio

Honestly I think that would go well, as there isn't really a romantic interest set up for Xiulan right now, with Gou Ren being paired off, and Yun Ren not really fitting the bill. That being said, I feel like it would be a difficult thing for her story to continue to be hers if she was tied to the Farm all the time to be part of their family, since she has her own plans.

Arnon Parenti

Poor author sama, no one believes his story.

Harley Shockley

I am fully willing for Jin, Meiling, and Xiulan to all be married, despite the fact that I prefer monogamy relationships. They all have very good chemistry, and Meiling would probably be the one to initiate it anyways.

mindsystem

I don't think Xianghua would be cool with a harem, even if Gou was (which I doubt). During her POV she calls him "her Gou", so I doubt she'll let someone else have him if they're in a relationship. And she's strong enough and outspoken enough for it to be made clear were it to become an issue. Xi Kong is probably at least a little serious. He sees her being happy with him and asks what he is to her. She responds with just "Jin" no titles or anything, which speaks to some closeness I think, especially for cultivators who are all about titles and face. So it probably makes sense to assume they're courting or something, especially since they don't seem to communicate much on an emotional level. Also doesn't hurt to have family ties to someone powerful, though as we've seen he isn't willing to "sell her off" for benefits.

Holden

Poor Tao

TheRaptorOfHermes

This was great. hope youre better

Joe

Ye, chapter feels more relaxed. I think the break was a good idea.

Dallas Meck

Of all the stories I follow, I am always most excited to see this one. Part of me wants to stay away for awhile just so I can have a bit of a backlog but as soon as the notification pops up I'm here.

taukid

Yeah, that was great. Jin is gonna be like "Your my sworn sister's father! That make you family!"

Michael Fannon

Glad you're back, great chapter. Glad Gou Ren got some, but he is going to end up with a harem, isn't he? Also I can't tell if Xi Kong is serious or not either.

Ask-if-I-like-lemons

Long chapter! Awesome. This fulfills my BoC dose of the day.

Chad Hagner

I liked this, fun chapter from different perspective. Don't know what it is but these last few chapters have really Slapped.

Gavriel

Patience 😆, don't you mean patience hehe

Joe The squatch

woooo

Doctor Xerox

Really excellent chapter. Its a very satisfying montage that's clearly a part of the resolution to the current arc. :)

WonderBread459

Well done. We’ve seen Xi Kong with Bi Di, now the hype is one for when he finally sits down and chats with Jin. Can’t wait

Some person

I like how this one turned out good show sir

S. Nutter

That was done very neatly, I liked the story type interludes. Reminds me of how some fairytale retelling are done.

Michael Fannon

I thought it was implied that Xiulan's mom died after she left?

Imspinnennetz

Considering that the official is corrupt and greedy, I expect that the imperial bureaucracy will audit him as a comeuppance for his bad behavior.

jak8714

mystery solved, forgot to cancel membership. ah well, one more month with access to advance chapters is hardly a trial.

jak8714

I am delighted to see this, and also a tad puzzled. I was expecting to lose access before the chapter came out.

Aiden King

"Cho sighed and got up too, starting to walk away. He gave her shapely rear a swat and the woman yelped, glaring at him." Sexual assult in the workplace ha ha so funny. It's in character and unfortunately realistic, but should it be normalised?

Deltoren

poor tao

mindsystem

I'm glad to see that, while he hasn't been the perfect father, Xi Kong is still very protective of his daughter, going so far as to kill someone he thought a friend. And also nice to see he's open to trying to be better, that maybe "facing the heavens alone" isn't the right answer. He always has seemed this way to me but it's a nice reinforcement of that aspect. Also, afaik, the only thing we really know about Xiulan's mom is that she left a long time ago. Could she be one of those cultivators that tried to leave the province and never returned? Or maybe she's pursuing her Dao in some hidden place and they'll run into her at some point?

Produx :}

It pretty much IS religious scripture in Xianxia land. Cultivators being actually good people? You could make a religion out of this.

Aaron

It was worth waiting for.

Thransk

Lmao when he started reading off the amount of food and the "three days and three nights" line I felt like I was reading some sort of religious scripture

Ichypa

Xianghua finally got herself a piece, good for her.

Vaughn Fredericks

Awesome stuff as always. Kong would have been forced to insure ==> ensure

Logrus

>Tao told nothing but the truth! It may sound fantastical, but that was why he wrote it! Honestly! Who could make what happened up?! Always love a mild bardic-self-insert :P Great chapter!

Imspinnennetz

I love the flowery language used to explain the mundane things that Jin does to heal the village.
