I think you got there in the end, but just to be sure, his brother was on the team officially. He did go to practice and workout and everything, but because the team was so popular at the time, he just wasn't in the starting line up or bench. He was third string basically.

I always love tsukki's development. That owl and his setter Akaashi are fan favorites. The next two episodes are great. This whole arc is just the beginning of Karasuno's evolution.
