The big confusion was they mentioned his death in episode one but don't show it until episode 3. Having seen it a week later, couldn't recall him mentioning magic in episode 1 or any link to it in the mention of his death. Got it now, but those first 3 episodes jump around quite a bit & seem like they leave a lot of stuff out before the narrative centers.

Hmmm the truck did hit him after the fight with the ex military guy happened.. like couple days after in fact he was ''training'' in the woods and for some reason went crazy and run in front of a truck which was showed here. You are not actually the first one who though he died multiple times but no just once :D
