Oda has some issues with how he draws women, no doubt, but the anime around the Dressrosa era did some crazy shit with waists, tits, and foreheads, of all things. There are comparisons out there that really highlight the difference. Viola, in particular, is particularly egregious. It’s funny too, because there are times recently that Nami is no more busty than she was in Skypeia, but I imagine that varies based on how recently Oda has seen his wife

Also, I know there is no time for this now but in the future maybe you can have a look at all the cover art requests Oda does (basically he does covers based on the requests of his fans) and a lot of them are very cute since you enjoy the spreads also.

Makino has black hair, Shanks has red hair (famously), the baby has brownish hair. Now, does that mean anything? Probably no. Is that how hair colour works? No, not in our world. Does black + red = brown? Nah, not really. But it's fun to theorize and this is a story 😎

Actually, the main criticism of the one piece manga is how complicated and cluttered the panels are in modern chapters. I think the simplification issue you're refereing to is only with the anime, which will gradually become better with the progration of animation, specially now a days when we get movie quality every episode.

Not sure If was confirmed or just a theory, but if I remember correctly, the reason Shanks’ blade is on that side is because he was left-handed before he lost his arm.

A fun detail of the Water 7 cover page is that all the women there are totally amused by the sight Franky's big mech robot while the men look shocked and concerned. It's a somewhat opposite example of the usual running gag where all the boys go nuts over Franky's robots while the girls remain unimpressed.
