The montage was really good! I remember seeing the same reaction on my BF when he watched it the 1st time (my 3rd watch?). I was skeptical if he'd be hooked to the show or not but the smile he had told me everything! So hype! I just feel sad that there'll be no other show that would evoke the same feeling 'cause it's the only one (currently) that is running for so long that is not very episodic that montages like that feels very awesome whether you binge it or watch weekly.

Having no doubt that is haki... there are a number of situation in the series where this was projected.. instinct with Mr. 3, Zoro with Daz, luffy with Crocomom, Luffy with Lucci etc

For me, HxH nen training and nen power is probably the best "power" in shonen, but in OP, for sure presentation of this new cool power was the best, because it wasn't new, we saw it from the very beginning.

I was also going to quote another Zoro training scene in the end of Skypiea (but it's actually anime-only in ep 194) where Zoro says "Water, light, fire. Things whose shape is transient...things with no form...I cut them!" before splitting a boulder without touching it. (In the manga we only see him split the boulder) On a similar note, another anime-only quote even before all that in Drum Island is also a coincidental non-canon foreshadowing, in a flashback between Hiriluk and Chopper where he describes pirates, with a silhouette of Roger: "They have a body hard like stone, the eyes of an eagle, and a voice that tears the sky asunder!"

Regarding previous Haki. It is generally accepted that Zoro used Obs and Arm without realizing when he beat Mr. 1. This is supported by lines like "I knew where the stones wouldn't fall," "I can hear the breathing of his steel," and "My will is flowing into my sword." [ch 195] Then in the aftermath of it all, in ch 213, Zoro was lifting rocks in the desert and said "I have to concentrate harder! I've got to be able to draw on that power at any time"

Concerning Luffy, there's 1 more instance of Haki being referenced But he wasn't there, it was during Jaya when Blackbeard saw his real bounty He said his bounty was way too low for the Haki he felt from him and found the 100M bounty more appropriate There's one other instance i think could be haki related, in Little Garden, when Luffy was in that jungle with a bunch of copies of Mr3, he found the one right on spot and attributed it to his ''instinct''. Almost like it was subconscious. Probably the early stages of Oda setting up what Haki would be. Soon after we reached Skypiea with each priest using it. They also mentioned they needed to stay calm or they'll lose control over their mantra.

From his showings against Roger's right hand, you can scale his minimum potential to that of Dark King Rayleigh (not in his prime, but neither is Garp🤷🏾‍♂️). Put some respect on the light goat⚡️🔥🔥. From Shakky's words and portrayal against Rayleigh, it seems that the Straw Hats have to be 100x stronger if they hope to face him again😬😏

From this stopping point in the manga, to the next chapter, there was a one month break. I bet fans back then felt like they were going on a training arc too before picking back the story!!!

This arc is crazy when you consider the irl time it took. Ep 405, the one where Kuma separated everyone, aired in June 2009. This episode aired September 2011. Over 2 years without most of the Straw Hats aside from brief glimpses while us fans waited for the reunion before realizing we would have to wait even longer. The manga gap was slightly shorter but the rest of the Straw Hats only appeared in Cover stories instead of full chapters. It's insane that one of the most celebrated arcs occurred without 90% of the main cast over several years.
