Thanks for the suggestion. We have already compiled a list with all the cover stories that they can read. We decided not to suggest the narration videos, like Ty said here, because the majority of them either us AI or inject opinion into them. They also open Boldcast up to spoilers in the recommended videos which we obviously want to avoid.

Well it would make a reaction much smoother than having to be on camera reading text. The videos were made before ai. They just use a robotic voice probably because the creator doesn't speak english very well. It would make for more content. Take a look at the video I linked. It's not so bad.

If you join the discord you can see what the mods put together for them under the pinned comments. The issue with these videos are often they are completely ai and the recommended videos are often spoilers. The end of the video you linked has a pop up for a video on that channel that would be spoilers as well. While it can be cool to see the cover stories animated idk how much better it would be than just reading them.

Hey guys, I suppose others have already suggested this, but would yall consider reacting to the cover stories? I am also following another reaction channel, Haylo and Kiss, where they are doing reactions to the manga cover stories. They aren't reading the cover stories but reacting to a youtube channel that has narrated videos on the cover stories. The videos are pretty well made aside from the robot voice they use for the narration. Here is the link to the first cover story which would be Buggy's adventure: https://youtu.be/_QGSjSSviJA?si=wUOc0NNCRNxPwY-C I am not sure if maybe you would want your mods to vet the channel and supply you with the links to the subsequent coverstories so that you yourselves dont get spoiled, but this could be a great way to see the cover stories with Oda's own art in video form.

And of course I won't go into specifics, but Ichigo's backstory is basically the whole series up until "The Blade Is __". Kubo was definitely free for most of the series, subverting typical shonen tropes and employing his own unique writing style

Yeah, Shonen Jump definitely told Kishimoto to stretch that War arc for as long as possible.😂 Kubo I disagree with though🤷🏾‍♂️ Kubo's writing style is poetic. Less is more. If he was influenced by Jump he would have simplified his writing to explain things more clearly or more exposition based like Naruto or One Piece. But this was not his writing style, and he stayed true to it🤷🏾‍♂️

It's really bold of Oda as a mangaka to hold off on Luffy's true backstory for this long. Most start their series off with it so that the readers can immediately latch onto the protagonist, but Luffy is written in a way where he doesn't need that. Just his little introduction with Shanks is enough to keep people invested in him as a character. I truly wish Shounen Jump gave their mangakas more freedom like this. I don't think they're amazing writers and it sucks to always compare them, but Kubo and Kishimoto's stories were forever shaped by their editors. Kishi basically just did what his editors told him to do and Kubo had to fight with them to write the story he wanted to write. In a world where Manga is filled with the same story beats and basic formula, One Piece just feels so free. You can feel that Oda has complete control over his story (for better and for worse) and you can feel the energy that creative freedom brings on every page. Its a common sentiment in the community so this isnt an original idea or observation, but, when I read One Piece, I find myself reverting back into a child: I smile from ear to ear, my heart races, I'm excited to turn the page, my eyes are glued to every single panel, and, by the end of the chapter, I can't wait for more. Love this series, love you guys, and I love that I have the chance to relive the pure bliss that radiates from this goofy rubber boy with you two.
