The panel in the Manga where the whales are jumping out the water with the Sunny, onto the new world is one of my favorites. Finally, we're here.

Although this episode's whirlpool shenanigans may seem random and uneventful compared to the whales, I postulate that it determined the entirety of the story after this point. The reason: that current almost certainly spat them out somewhere other than their original path. So the simple act of trying to fish resulted in every step they end up taking. Just like the random ship falling from the sky island, or the random meeting with Ms. Wednesday before that, the campaign is a mix of choices and chance leading to their destiny.

Well it isn't clear about gear 2 in the Anime, in the manga its obvious that Luffy perfected it because when Luffy uses it, he doesn't go the full transformation, he only does 1 limb at a time, which we saw in the Anime when he fought the pacifista. However the Anime mostly still does the transformation, in order to reuse old clips for saving budget.

TOIE is all about the ratings, and people don't watch the filler in Japan. So for them placing the Navy ships at the end of the episode is a way to get people to show up the next week to watch the filler.

The ships at the end of this episode are filler. In the manga for this chapter, oda wanted to create a sence of forboding and mystery with the new world. A changed atmosphere that makes the entrance into the New World all the more intimidating when they first come upon it. The marines presence kind of detract from that sense of entering a truly unknown perilous environment. As usual TOIE messing things up. I just wanted to make that clarification just so you know oda's direction is better.

Finally made it to the new world. At last I can return to the story that I missed and boldcast created the best oppurtunity for me to do that. I am currently so deep into OP in the manga and the anime, i just never felt compelled to revisit this part of the series, but now is my chance. Lets enjoy these next 2 arcs together.

The scene after they emerge in the New World and see the ships is filler. The filler is related to one of the movies.

On Luffy's Gears, I don't think the negative effects of pre-TS apply to post-TS because Luffy has perfected them during the timeskip. He's using Gear 2 more often and "smoothly" than pre-TS (going in and out of it); and also in the manga he's able to partially apply G2 to a specific body part. With Gear 3 we've seen that he doesn't shrink anymore after using it and he has more control over the air in his body.

Finally made it to the New World, what a milestone. Great job wrapping up Fishman Island you guys and for making it this far in general.
