pretty sure "jinshi the emporers son" wears a veil in public(not 100% sure) and if so it'd make sense cuz if his hair was also tied up there's no way anyone other than ppl who are close to jinshi all the time would even question it

I think what's weird is that there are people who've seen both Jinshi the eunuch and Jinshi the emperor's son, but seemingly didn't realize they're the same? Or would they all be part of the conspiracy?

Assisted by the apparent misinformation they have spread regarding Jinshi being several years older than the prince (something they probably only get away because Jinshi is supposedly a eunuch, so might have less signs of maturing).

seeing how sheltered Lingli’s upbringing is kind of helps back up the idea that most people wouldn’t know what Jinshi looked like, if he, like her, grew up sheltered in his mother’s pavilion and took on his “Jinshi the rear palace manager” identity at age 14

I would not get too focused on the real world history, as it is a fictional world (just with a lot of basis on China) to allow a mismatch of influences and time periods without technically being anachronistic.
