Another thing to ad to your point,most of the important Marine's have their own personal views of Justice like Aokiji beliving in "Lazy Justice" but, the Marine's main version is "Absolute Justice" and even do most people belive that is Akainu's version, Oda stated that his personal version is "Thorough Justice" which seems to go even further than "Absolute Justice".

Akainu is one of the most effectively scary villains in all of one piece because not only does he have the power to kill; but you know he’s TRYING to do it to the best of his ability. Like we meet all these other “bad guys” and they are kind of luke warm like garp and smoker and aokiji are a little bit on luffys side and the whole time your wanting to meet someone who is a marine and actually just does their job without any hesitation. That Marine who does his job to the letter is kizaru he goes where he’s supposed to go does what he’s supposed to do and doesn’t hesitate in doing it. Akainu is a marine who does more than his job he goes above and beyond. The other admirals were trying to stop ace from escaping so he could be executed on the stand properly. When ace escaped they were trying to stop them from getting away and protect marineford and the other marines because that’s their job. Make sure the execution happens smoothly. The other admirals could have killed luffy whenever but didn’t because that’s wasn’t their job. Akainu WANTS to kill luffy and ace because he doesn’t believe they should be allowed to live and so he takes it upon himself to kill them when given the chance. Like I don’t know if this was brought to your attention but Akainu is the person who killed the civilians on O’Hara. The Marines and aokiji killed the researchers and destroyed the research but let the civilians go. Akainu without being ordered too took it upon himself to kill the civilians because he felt that was the only way to ensure the mission succeeded.

It's not about being smart or stupid imo. Just like Luffy, Ace makes a lot of stupid decisions because he's a hothead (Luffy is often just very lucky so he doesn't die tbh). Is it tragic to see him basically throwing away his life based on an emotional reaction provoked by Akainu? Yes, but in that situation anything else wouldn't make sense.

Ace not falling for Akainu's provocation would go against he's character. We've seen Ace going into fights based on emotion alone many times. Hell, the only reason he got caught in the first place is because he picked a fight with Blackbeard.

Akainu is for sure the best admiral. He actually doesn't have sympathy for criminals and will chase them down. He doesn't have any second thoughts and is just doing his job because he hates outlaws. Great antagonist!
