Mr.2 and Mr.3 both have not only contributed so much in terms of the story but also allowed ace, Luffy’s step brother to survive. As an anime watcher, watching the early episodes when these characters were first introduced in little garden and alabasta. I never in a million years would ever think they would become so relevant and even tied to deeper mysteries and organizations in the plot. Along with Crocoboy, Mr. 1, and the forshadowed jimbie. Sometimes in a story, the sacrifice of "avoiding death" or writing characters out, is beneficial because it can strengthen the plot and make it feel like this world truly is deeply connected and the characters are constantly moving and on their own journeys along with the straw hats. This is why I love one piece.

This is up to the present story. My main evidence has been from Sabaody and Marineford. My best evidence was a quote from Shakky which got 21 likes on the previous post. Also the main theme of this saga is literally about strength, so these discussions aren't baseless at all. Oda wants you to think about these things

The power scaling debates I always felt are kind of pointless baseless chatter within the OP community that doesn't really advocate intelligent conversation because it always leads to quarreling amongst each but if you must talk about these things let’s remember people that we are on ep 480 in the story. Keep the discussions centered around and up to the present story only.

The animator you're referencing is Naotoshi Shida, and yes this was him. But it's not the first time you've seen him on One Piece, he also animated Sanji vs. Oars (when he rushes towards him), when the Straw Hats crash into the Human Auction, Rayleigh vs Kizaru (the first interaction where he saves Zoro), Luffy & Mr. 3 vs Magellan, Marco vs. Kizaru (the first interaction), when Whitebeard attacked the Giant Vice Admiral and subsequently tore through space and caused massive shifts, when Jimbei threw an ocean current, Luffy in front of all 3 admirals with shining water everywhere, this scene with Ace finally free, and so much more in future episodes. Generally speaking, if you see a cut where everything is shiny or everything looks 60 FPS, it's Shida!

@Ty, I feel bad for you then for three reasons: 1. This while saga has been trying to communicate a theme to you -> Weakness gets you nowhere. The strawhats suffered a humiliating defeat and have been split up BECAUSE THEY WERE WEAK. 2. This is a shonen battle manga 3. The power scaling makes sense. Jimbei is weaker than WB's top commanders on land btw. He lost to a Rookie Ace. He could be clutch at times, but in an actual fight he's beating no significant marine at Marineford aka the Admirals. Unless you think Jimbei who lost to a Rookie Ace is stronger than Dark King Rayleigh😂 If you want to gas up anyone, gas up Crocodile. He was actually clutch by stopping the execution attempt earlier. The fact that Marco lost to Kizaru doesn't make him weak. That is a terrible argument. It's generally considered that the Admirals on average are a step above the Warlords. Jinbe has done nothing to show he is weak. The Commanders have shown they can at least hold their own against Admirals and Warlords and can very easily take down Pacifists. Considering how even top rookie crews like the Straw Hats and Kid pirates were like ants to these same enemies it goes to show that nearly everyone that is fighting in Marineford are at a much higher level than the majority of people in this world. Heck, Ace was able to give Blackbeard a pretty tough fight despite him losing. And Jinbe himself has shown that he is able to stand against some of the toughest foes at Marineford. And it not just strength. He has consistently been the one thinking clearly, and from Impel Down to now he has rescued so many people so often that it's likely Luffy would have died long before this moment.

Naotoshi Shida GOAT!! He's the animator you were referring to. He's done a few spectacular cuts for One Piece in the past. He's a fan favorite and huge MVP for any project he works on. But yeah, I think Ace tearfully admitting he finally values his life is what broke Garp. Otherwise he might have seriously fought against Luffy.

Sengoku's devil fruit is kinda like an in-joke. Back when Chopper was introduced a fan asked in an SBS what would happen if a human ate his fruit and Oda said he would achieve enlightenment. Which led to this, the mythical Zoan type Human-Human Fruit: Model Buddha.
