Ufotable would be horrible for One Piece, Mappa might be good. For now I think that Wit Studio is literally the best choice.
Kiki Varas
Same, I’m waiting for the One Piece upload tonight.
charlie
one piece tonight? im sleeps

It would make great content for a prequel manga

No, I never wanted Boldcast to skip Skypia or Thriller Bark, but when you got an official remake of the arc, with 20 episodes, how it could be even a question?
Jack Shadow
Ok, I'm on discord. You can explain your position.
Matthew Gilroy
You probably thought the same about Thriller Bark, and Boldcast ended up liking it more than Enies Lobby. You underestimate the poor pacing of Enies Lobby and Marineford, and you seem to be implicitly basing your argument off the content of the arcs, which is subjective. Objectively, poor pacing isn't anything new
Matthew Gilroy
Ah yes, Garp, One Piece's symbol of peace, working for a Nazi like Government with Nazi practices shown in Impel Down, that bow down to Celestial Dragons who are clear parallels to the "master race".
Jack Shadow
I'm not spoiling anything, but when you have an official remake and it's good, why don't watch it instead of dragged-out episodes that people will skip and wait for more episodes' reactions being released? I doubt that people will wait for each episode like in Marinford because as I said before, the pacing there is awful, as well as animation.
Matthew Gilroy
Except All Might has fucking morals🤷🏾♂️
Ty
If you join the discord I’ll describe why I think you are wrong there
Matthew Gilroy
From episode one up until a certain point, yes
Matthew Gilroy
My guy Marineford is dragged out too. Thriller Bark is dragged out too. Enies Lobby is heavily dragged out. They'll be fine, and there's no need to spoil
Jack Shadow
Listen, they didn't cut anything important, and if that specific scene was so important we can ask Boldcast to watch specifically that episode. While the "spoiler name" arc is nothing else than dragged-out filler scenes and emotions. I know that your nostalgia is important, but believe me, there's nothing to lose. And again this is 70 dragged-out, filler emotion, bad pacing episodes vs less than 20 episodes with great animation, nice moments, and nothing too complane scenes. Common everybody knows that the "spoiler name" arc is awful in anime. Plus in the remake, there was even less censure in some other moments. It directly follows the manga(for example in one scene in the remake Luffy didn't save innocent people, who were killed, while in the old dragged-out adaptation he saved them). Also, I'm not even talking about how many people could unsubscribe when Boldcast will start to watch this "spoiler name" arc in old animation, with 70 dragged-out emotional episodes.
Ty
It’s not meant for first time viewers. The random stuff they cut makes the viewing experience feel awkward. It’s like watching a YouTube video where every few seconds it cuts
Jack Shadow
More than 70 episodes vs. less than 20 episodes? Boldcast can rewatch the most important(LOR) episodes within old animation, but watching this horrible-paced arc when you could watch the same arc, where the same events will happen, shouldn't be even the question! Also, many people even called that arc the most horrible arc in One Piece anime, because it dragged out jokes, and its events made it the worst arc of One Piece in anime.
Shardonay Hardy
Thanks for the update, looking forward to forward to it

With how much details they pick up and analyze while watching it'd be a great detriment to watch it with fast paced/cut canon content. Better direction, art and all that is great, just not for a first time experience.
BOLDcast
Will upload the rest of season 1 in the next day or two Then it’s just however fast we get to it
Colonel Violet
"is it fear", Yes. He's fucking traumatized by his grandpa, let's not forget lol.

Do not ever recommend the remaster (not a remake) of the next arc to anybody for a first watch-through, it literally cuts canon manga content. It is made for people who have already watched it, not for new viewers. The pacing is horrible (in the sense that instead of being too slow, it's way too fast)...

Remake also has terrible pacing, its just in the opposite direction
Jack Shadow
I can't wait for the remake with good pacing. Also, after Marinford war arc there will be an arc that got full readaptation in a new style and much better pacing, so I guess it would be a good option to you just watch the remake that watching the original awful pacing.
BOLDcast
So you’re telling me that still hasn’t happened in the next 700 episodes? Actually don’t answer that
Shardonay Hardy
What’s the schedule with apothecary diaries ?

i love the animation and original fights of one piece but if mappa or ufotable was to remake one piece from episode one, this show would be a million times better

If you guys dub one piece in English satirically I would watch it. 😂

There is a ton of dog imagery with the Marines. Rightfully so. You have Red Dog Akainu, several dog model Zoans in the Vice Admirals, plus Garp’s stuff. Probably on purpose.

Obviously the implication is he could have already had TWO promotions in all those years.

I like when y’all compare it to the live action. The draw for me for these reactions starting out was a newcomer’s perspective who had seen the live action.
Sanji Joestar
@Eoussama In the Live Action Yes. I guess he's not wrong since he blocked his own promotion but the actual promotion he refused was Admiral.
EOussama
My memory might be failing me, but didn't he say in the Live Action "I could have been Fleet Admiral" to Koby?
EOussama
I love when characters confuse me like Garp did here. You know he's a good guy, but is he really? It's soooo gray.
dumbphilosopher
I wanted to say so much more but..... 🤐🤐
Matthew Gilroy
Ok just to clarify an important thing about Luffy's strength right now: Shakky said in Sabaody to the crew that Rayleigh was 100 times stronger than all the Super Rookies there. Rayleigh was struggling and sweating against Kizaru. At this point in time, Luffy is no where near as strong as anyone here. He is not beating Garp or any admiral
Tony
Garp having a Dog Hat and Dog style ship I believe was on purpose because originally before One Piece was serialized Oda had already made a chapter in which Garp plays the role of Shanks. I believe it was called Wanted Romance Dawn chapter version 1 So instead of Shanks being the person who gave Luffy the straw hat it was Garp who gave him the straw hat. Also Garp was a pirate in there too 😂

Bro at some point I hope to see a flashback of prime whitebeard and Roger vs Garp and Sengoku

Garp facing Luffy We're almost there Can't wait

Regarding Mr1 and Mihawk. It is also notable that Mr1 even though he has the dice dice fruit doesn't consider himself a swordsman. He was an assassin. I also think that he also only faced people, who could not cut iron and zoro was the first one.
Sanji Joestar
Direction and Adaptation can be so cool when combined with a good storyline Can elevate a story/episode so much 🔥
Sanji Joestar
100% agree with Mr1 getting sliced nice and quick It's the type of scene you hope just does its job and we move on Sometimes the anime will take the liberty to extend that kind of scene for show or padding before going back to the main course of events, easy clap, but it feels a bit diminishing I'm glad they didn't do that with him here
Coqnbauz
Garp the Fist!
Sanji Joestar
😂 That's All Might alright 🔥
Sanji Joestar
The comment clarifying about Garp's refused rank probably got it wrong He refused the post of admiral, not fleet admiral. He'd need to be an admiral first to become Fleet Admiral for example. By authority Fleet Admiral>Admiral>Vice Admiral
Sanji Joestar
Peak optimism intro

I loved the discussion, no need to end it... Haha :D Lindsey had a good point with the dragging out ratio. Haven't noticed it before, or rather haven't formed my observation of that into words before. But it's definitely a big reasons why I enjoy watching the big OP clashes and quick emotional moments so much. The pacing gets closer to manga but leaves even a bigger impact on you because the characters are in motion and seiyuu are doing an incredible job.
