Akainu (Absolute Justice) Kizaru (Unclear Justice) Aokiji (Lazy Justice) These are the motto for these three Admirals and yeah Akainu is the sucks one here

The thing is certain Pirates would also kill babies. Its really a tail about Law verses Chaos. With the Marines being the Law, and the Pirates being the Chaos. Both sides literally have Evil people and good people.
Sanji Joestar
Depends, if this system can demonize an 8year old girl and create general fear of her throughout the world and kill literal babies, I can easily imagine worse discrimination towards Roger's son within them. Basically pushing him to have to ''prove" why he isn't a bad guy.
Jambron
I think my favourite part of this ep is that the Garp moment is really strong and grips you hard then you cut to this really hype moment with Luffy and Gang showing up, in a perilous situation yet bickering just like a family would or a couple's argument. This cracks me up every time and is the best way to release the tension of Garp's tearful distress.
Sloth
I think they would've either flaunted that the Pirate King's son was now working for them to end the pirate era or they would've tried their hardest to keep it under wraps. Garp wouldn't have suggested it if he thought it wouldn't help Ace.
Colonel Violet
"Would that same 'Justice' have accepted Ace within its rank when they find out he was the Pirate King's son?" This is a very good point...

Luffy and the legendary entrances Garp is close to a heart attack atp

Super Novice
Garps tears to Luffy airdropping in, the rollercoaster of emotions. Devastation to hyyyype!

The last few minutes of this episode are a real rollercoaster emotionally
Lūthér Hölâyèãhmé
Garp feels that his grandchildren would have been safe in this world if they became Marines
Sanji Joestar
The worst kind of person is probably the ones that call themselves 'good people'. They'll justify any of their actions as being 'good'. '' It's not important that i screwed you over. My goal is right so if I do a little something to you it's fine, it's for THE good. '' That's how I feel about the iconic Doffy Speech. Justice will prevail cuz Whoever wins is Justice. The Marines call themselves defenders of Justice, they literally wear it on their backs. Their main difference with pirates, is pirates don't claim to be just. They just do their own thing so we have many different archetypes from Luffy to pirates like Kid or Crocodile. But is the senseless killing of babies and pregnant mothers Justice? Is it Justice to blow up a refugee ship? Is it Justice to just kill a deserter? (I get the urgency situation but something like locking them up until judgement sounds more ethical than just vaporizing them and then lying about the circumstances... Very absolute justice) Is it Justice to turn Ace's lineage into an example for the world to justify this war? Would that same 'Justice' have accepted Ace within its rank when they find out he was the Pirate King's son? So many interesting questions are being asked in the background Marineford is so good!

i wish we would get 2 episodes a day during this arc

Akainu is great antagonist. Also speaking about becaming pirate topic, I know pirates defenders will argue with me, but you can be good guy, save contries and peoples as a marrine. You don't need to became a pirate to do good things.

I can’t wait for the next podcast. Now we got the mottos and more discussion points I really been wanting to talk about.
Coqnbauz
Garp has spent the majority of his adult life knowing that, at SOME point, he will either be ordered to go after Dragon, Ace, and Luffy OR he’ll be forced to attend their executions
Artemis
The boys have finally arrived.

when do you guys think it's a good time to reveal to them each admiral "motto"? they already know aokiji's "Lazy Justice"

Despite all of the gigantic chaotic battle stuff going on, Oda is still able to center things on small emotional character moments. Truly such a strength of the way he writes. And just like Oda, he cuts all of that ridiculous gut-wrenching emotional tension with a hilarious moment.
Whoopsie
Doflamingos talking about Justice and Hiriluk about being forgotten are some of my many favorites quotes in OP.
Nukouh
i wonder if it was luffy sitting there if garp would feel any different, you can really see in ace’s face all the regret, garp telling him not to become a pirate, whitebeard and crew telling him not to go after black beard and he just never listens and now it’s all hitting him at once, the animators did so well to capture his emotions, luffy is finally here still pumped with energy can’t wait to see how shit turns out

Edited mine as well :D

Sorry bud, I decided to remove my comment and post it again later once they get a little further in. I agree with what you said though, for what it's worth.

Holy shit what an episode lmaooo. Not Whitebeard moving his left hand (absolutely negging a giant vice admira), Doffy's speech, Koby and Helmeppo deserting, Garp grieving, and Luffyy putting off with the gang like a loot drop crate. Really enjoyed the discussion on the admirals. Akainu, hot attacks, cold heart. Aokiji, cold attacks, warm heart. Kizaru, fast attacks, slow mf lol.

Good conversation that is saved for a future post

EDIT: Gonna save what I wrote for a future post

Great episode and hammers home the theme of "Justice". Doflamingo - Chaotic and opportunistic justice. He doesn't care who wins, as long as he benefits from the outcome. Garp - Moral justice. Duty > family Akainu - Absolute Justice. "Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history. Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values. Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right. This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!"
charlie
Akainu literally melted that guy lmao I never noticed that
Nazim Belaidi
"I don't have pity for villains, but family is a different story". I tear up everytime I see this scene.
ChocoBoshi
You know Doflaminho binged ATLA right before the war and thought he'd try to act cool paraphrasing that mayor dude from the Sokka detective episode

We finally got to doflamingo’s iconic justice speech!
