Hope you checkout out Episode 0. It came out in April 16, 2010 and this episode, Episode 450, aired on May 9, 2010. So you should watch it at any time, but I’m guessing this community wants y’all to watch it after the next couple of episodes. It’s not available on crunchyroll, so you’re gonna have to do the pirate way to watch it. There are some standard quality videos of the episode on YouTube.

Yeah, there is a noticeable shift in the presented threat for our protagonist since kuma first arrived on thriller bark. Things have not been easy as they were prior and every enemy, he encountered in this saga eclipsed luffy and the straw hats ability in some way shape or form. Megellen was a character who outwardly looked silly and oda had its share of gags concerning him, but he is NOT to be trifaled with and in fact so powerful, that even IVa, one of the generals of the revo army, Crocodile and Jimbei, two former warlords and straw hat luffy together did not have the skill or strength to take him down. It’s fitting for the chief warden of the strongest prison in the world.

Luffy been taking so many Ls this saga that even his Ws are kinda Ls. He lost to Kizaru and Sentomaru. He won on Amazon Lily but he didn't actually beat the strongest there. And here lost to Magellan and failed to reach Ace. And unlike with Crocodile and Lucci he wasn't able to avenge his defeat by Magellan. And Magellan, man is like a dang Terminator. He gives so little Fs that he didn't mess around with Blackbeard and just doused him with poison. Can't wait for the next arc.

So far it seems proportional to how long he stayed in gear 3rd When fighting Lucci he estimated it'd take him like a minute to go back based on how long he stayed in the form When he punched the demon beasts well that was it, a punch so it didn't last long while he was offscreen

Maybe you noticed or didn't, but fluffy is able to use gear 3rd and only be small for a shorter time frame now versus against Lucci. Though he did only use one attack, so maybe it's proportional.

There are a bunch of reasons for Magellan not going all out from the start, and I like that Oda does this in a "show don't tell" way, through some of the running gags for instance. Magellan's power are taxing in the sense that too much poison upsets his stomach and makes him spend the day on the toilet, so he probably holds off using his most powerful moves unless needed. Also if you remember all the guards piled up in the entrance that the escapees defeated, they weren't shown again in the episode but technically Magellan probably just killed a bunch of jailers to try to stop the jailbreak, unless they magically disappear from there (we just aren't shown that but we can assume they got poisoned by his Hell demon form). So collateral damage would be another reason.

Jimbei was a conscientious objector to Ace’s execution and the possible war, so he resigned from his Warlord status. The Navy wanted to contain him in Impel Down until the execution or war was over. Unless you count breaking out as a victory, Magellan joins the roster of opponents Luffy never defeated from a fight along with Smoker, Aokiji, Kuma, & Sentomaru.

That moment when you successfully escape the world's greatest prison by holding on to a drag queen's enlarged head as he launches himself thru the air and onto a nearby school of whale sharks by winking really hard in order to dodge the pursuit of a titan made entirely of poison. Yup, that's One Piece all right. Impel Down is great all around, but the last half has a particularly strong finish imo. Their frantic escape from the prison and all the twists that come with it keep you on your toes and makes this arc really damn enjoyable.

You guys remember that animation sequence from Thriller Bark with Sanji running towards Oars before hitting his leg?? That's the same animator, Naotoshi Shida, for the scene of Venom Demon vs Gear3+Candle Wall (15:34-16:34 in the reaction) He's an iconic legend and his style is still so mesmerizing to watch It's very noticeable by the way the camera moves from different body parts and angles but mostly the fluidity of the elements on screen Especially when it comes to elements like fluids, water, smoke, lights, flames etc Everytime he's doing a scene you know peak animation is coming!

Venom Demon is one my favorite moves in One Piece Insane looking and really dope! And Magellan one of my favorite antagonists! Very effective when he's not in the toilets lol. Surprised you didn't call it An area of effect attack that doesn't distinguish Friends from Foe😂😭

I love how Magellan is scary the whole time. Like he’s hyped up as being dangerous then we meet him and he’s slightly goofy but immediately beats the brakes off luffy then he just keeps fucking people up the whole time. then finally luffy can fight him with the wax mech and you think “oh now we found his devil fruit counter like with crocodile we can beat him now” and then he whips out the poison susanoo and everyone has to run. Like it makes complete sense why Magellan is in charge of impel down dudes an absolute menace 😂.
